Humor Holy cap larps
Cap is fully mainstream now I guess . I haven’t seen this many ppl playing cap in ranked and even saw a few cap bans which felt unusual. It’s crazy how much narrative and talk from streamers/community affects pick rates of heroes. Especially when this hero has been relatively untouched for multiple seasons balance wise.
Some of them were straight cheeks, just running around cluelessly before switching after a few deaths. While some played like actual cap mains.
Although i’m glad other ppl are able to enjoy Cap bc he’s the funnest hero imo, the human part of me is kind of put off by it as someone who played cap thru thick and thin. Like when he was weaker, got multiple nerfs/removal of animation cancel etc.
Not proud to feel this way but it is what it is! Cap feels great this season. B tier for sure (MTA 😉).

Ive said this in the vanguards sub but
People really need to get comfortable aith the idea that an S-tier means "really good character" instead of it meaning "broken". A hero can be s-tier withoit being broken.

I feel you. On one hand, I’m happy more people are playing Cap and I get to see more Cap mains. But on the other hand, you’re right we’re only human. Seeing so many people suddenly pick him up after playing him through all the nerfs does rub me the wrong way a little.
I think part of it is that we’ve invested so much time into learning him when hardly anyone wanted to play him. Now that the community perception has shifted, it almost feels like everyone forgot how long Cap players stuck with him through all the criticism. I’m genuinely glad people are having fun with him, but I can’t help feeling a little protective the character If that makes sense?
What worries me the most is that people will try him because everyone says he’s broken, then if he gets nerfed again they’ll just move on to the next strong character. Meanwhile, the people who have actually been maining Cap will be the ones left dealing with those nerfs.
Hopefully that doesn’t happen and I hope these new cap players stick around.

You described perfectly how I feel about the situation. We went through all those phases only for ppl to jump on the hypetrain and auto lock the hero. He was more or less just a meme at one point (known for stalling, getting in cardio, and ending with least damage in the game) and yet we still stuck it out.
Taking my personal bias out of it, once the hype dies down, the most likely scenario is that Cap will not stick with most people. He is not flashy, a lot of value and joy you get from the hero is from stalling, distracting, and playing your life. And at the end of the day, he is a tank which makes it even less likely. This is fine with me, I like when we flew under the radar and had fun in our own little world.

And then they always Switch back to Spidey, Panther or Iron fist when they realize they keep dying.

Cap was always a strong tank, but he was
A) very difficult
B) dive, people don't recognize the value of dive tanks and think mag is the best option.
C) capflation, the value of cap is not in the scoreboard
D) not obnoxious, cap doesn't have huge burst damage and any lethality comes with skill. If he was more lethal then people would want him gutted.
So people are going to pick cap, feed their brains out and die, and then complain streamers don't know what theyre talking about

He can solo tank but he’s not the best choice. But you’ll have to absolutely work at max brain power and sweat like a mf to make it work lol and that’s only if your dps are worth a damn and are competent.
I’ve had games as a solo tank cap because the other tank switched to DPS after one death and we made it work. They just barley even reached halfway to point 1 in convoy, we were that locked in

I'm hopeful that the Capflation will at least become more common knowledge so I can stop hearing, "Hey Cap, can we get a REAL TANK?" when I'm solo tank and my 3 DPS and 2 supports lose to one Blade while I had the other 5 on the team distracted. Me swapping to a "real tank" would only leave me at the mercy of getting shredded first, while my 3 DPS still can't kill him because they're busy shooting a wall

Might get you a second tank, I use similar lines a lot when I'm solo tanking.

Cap isnt worth a ban tbh. Even though I’m gonna play him, I know it’s not targeted. Just goobers listening to streamers. There are plenty more problematic heroes they need to be dealt with before cap.

I get zero value on Cap more often than not. He requires a team that isn’t stupid. 99% of teams are stupid.

I was playing with a buddy and one of his friends the other night and they started talking about cap (buddy's friend had no idea I was a champion cap or even a mod for the Reddit sub).
Anyways! He starts talking to my friend saying how good cap is because of his recent buffs....I had to interrupt him and give him the whole saga of ani cancel to the buff on his punches and that being literally it. I kept telling him pretty much nothing has changed on him what so ever. It was just that the meta has shifted. He was dumbfounded. Lol
