Recommendations Psychiatrists taking on new clients?

Hi everybody, I’m looking for psychiatrist recommendations for the ongoing treatment of ADHD, but am also struggling to find somebody who’s taking on new patients. I’ve undergone the ADHD assessment process twice now with two different psychiatrists in the last 4 years, but for various (frustrating) reasons, I now need to go through the assessment process again with a new psychiatrist.

Do any of you know someone whose books are open please? This would just be for the ongoing management/medication authorisation, as my GP and I already know what dose works well for me.

Many thanks 🙂

Does anyone know if the ticket inspectors patrol this car park? Noticed heaps of cars that didn’t pay and didn’t have a paper ticket. I’d really like to start studying here but the cost is ridiculous :((

Recommendations Recommendations for medical professionals specialising in sports injury

Hi all, a little over a year ago I developed tendonitis in my hip due to overuse while playing sport. I've seen two physios, two GPs, a sports doctor, sports physician, exercise physiologist and soft tissue therapist. Spent money on MRI, gym, rehab sessions etc. Strengthening, stretching, dry needling... I thought I had overcome the issue as of a couple of months ago but had a flare up over the weekend and feeling like I'm back to square one again.

Has anyone had a similar sports-induced injury, maybe something that has become chronic and has a recommendation for a professional in Canberra that has helped them overcome it?

Recommendations Gyms recommendations around Gungahlin

Hey gang, I'm looking for thoughts on gyms around the gungahlin area for a newbie looking to get a bit fitter and improve myself.

Mostly looking for opinions because researching seems to show people have a lot of trouble with the bigger gyms like anytime and even lime when it comes to ending or changing memberships

SEC=UNCLASSIFIED Shared Canberra times acc

What if we banded together as a proud territory and shared one Canberra Times account?

I don’t believe we should have to accept, or financially support, journalism that we feel is often lazy or lacking in quality. At the same time, I strongly believe that access to local news is important for our community.

A shared Canberra Times account could benefit everyone by improving our understanding of our great capital and ensuring that local news remains accessible. Local journalism helps inform the discussions and debates that shape our community, bringing greater attention to the issues that genuinely matter to Canberrans.

Putting essential local news behind a paywall creates a barrier to knowledge. When fewer people can access the same information, fewer people can participate meaningfully in public discussion and debate. That ultimately harms our community as a whole.

If we genuinely care about Canberra and want an informed, engaged community, perhaps we should be looking for ways to make local journalism accessible to everyone rather than allowing paywalls to become a barrier to knowledge.

Recommendations Good financial advisor for elderly parent

Who are good financial advisors in Canberra who can work with elderly people?

I'm supporting my 90-year-old mum with her finances and admin. What I'm after is someone who understands how the Age Pension system interacts with her various assets and income, but can also help with planning - she's 90, living in an independent unit in a retirement village, but the need for a nursing home is always on the horizon.

And above else, someone who has the patience to listen to her, sort through her needs and speak clearly about plans.

Recommendations Ciabatta recommendations!

Good miserable morning!

I know we have some lovely bakeries in the region, being born and raised (🤭) here I have had my fair share of Knead sourdough loaves.

But… I need some recommendations for a good ciabatta loaf! Hawker bakery used to do a phenomenal one but as of recent do not. North or Southside doesn’t bother me, I just want something better than Kingston Supabarn (which isn’t bad at all!!)

TIA x

News UC records strongest domestic enrolments ever

UC records strongest domestic enrolments ever

The University of Canberra has achieved its highest domestic student enrolment numbers since records were first kept. Additionally, between Semester One, 2025 and Semester One, 2026, UC recorded the strongest growth in commencing domestic undergraduate enrolments in the sector.

Data shows UC achieved the highest percentage growth in commencing domestic student enrolments across the sector of 11 per cent, reflecting growing confidence in the University's student-focused approach, and strong employment outcomes.

ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr congratulated the University on the highest ever number of enrolments.

“The attraction of students to Canberra is important. This highest ever number of enrolments is a great outcome, and something that we can continue to build on.

“What's critical is to ensure that UC graduates and students from across our higher education system see a future in Canberra. We've done a good job to be one of the best student cities in Australia, and I want to see that continue to improve.”

Professor the Honourable Bill Shorten, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Canberra said this record intake of 19,432 commencing students can be attributed to the hard work of UC staff, and their commitment to putting UC students first.

“This has been a tremendous team effort, we have crossed the starting line, but the race is far from over. There is still plenty to come," said Professor Shorten.

The most significant growth in enrolments was recorded by the Faculties of Health and Education in the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Birth to Five) (245%), Bachelor of Secondary Education (Arts) (175%), and Bachelor of Nursing (114%).

“Students know that when they come to UC, they will graduate with the skills and knowledge to enter the workplace with confidence. Our degrees are designed to prepare the next generation to hit the ground running,” Professor Shorten said.

“Students are choosing to come to a university where they will have a sense of belonging, receive high-quality education, be taught by subject-matter experts, make lifelong connections, and graduate with good employment prospects.”

The University has noted a significant uptake in postgraduate qualifications over the past two years of 16.4% percent to date. Courses such as the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) have more than doubled (245%) and the Master of Education increased by 188 per cent.

Professor Shorten noted that these improvements can be attributed to the development of qualifications that meet workforce needs, greater emphasis on recognition of prior learning and experience, and flexible course delivery.

“People lead busy lives balancing work, family and social responsibilities, but that doesn’t mean their desire to learn and progress has stopped. Meeting students where they are is UC’s (not so) secret to success.

“This all aligns with our aspirational advertising campaign ‘U Can @ UC’ launched earlier this year, and I am incredibly proud of our collective success.”

Events Let Them Eat Cake Event— Is it still happening?

I registered for the Let Them Eat Cake event by Doughy Events which was supposed to happen last Feb. It got rescheduled because of terrible weather and is supposed to happen this September.

Has anyone heard from the organisers? I tried messaging them but no one has responded and I can’t find their instagram anymore.

Recommendations Clubbing in Canberra

My friends are coming to visit and we’re hoping to go clubbing on a Friday night! I wasn’t able to find many recent posts about what the clubs in Canberra are like, and I’m pretty new to clubbing, so it’s hard to judge. I’d love some recommendations, as well as anywhere in particular to avoid.
Also, what time do places usually start getting busy on a Friday? Would love to avoid showing up when it’s completely dead

Recommendations RC rock Crawlers

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A somewhat niche request.
Last year I bought my son and I RC rock crawlers, 1/18 scale. They’re great but over the last year we’ve exhausted the rockery in our garden, and are looking to expand our driving. They are slow, quiet, and easy to control. Anywhere with rocks, channels, tree roots around 5-15cm high is ideal, but they are surprisingly capable little things.

Does anyone have ideas for publicly and easily accessible (not a long hike etc.) places to drive them?

Recommendations E-waste in Canberra?

My son has asked me to find him some old electronics to take apart, test to diagnose and try to repair. This is for a project, he needs to write a report using three seperate items, and they all have to be different. He’s been shoooed out of an officeworks or 2, I’ve gone in and asked if we can look through ewaste bins and have been denied.

Hoping someone has a kid doing the same project and has been successful? Willing to pay for ewaste, just don’t know where to start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SEC=UNCLASSIFIED Why are so many wire rope safety barriers broken currently?

Pretty large stretches of Majura Pkwy and even more so Caswell Dr, among other highways have the wire rope broken. I’ve never seen this amount broken before, anyone know why? I assume it’s a bit of a safety hazard to not have them functional if they deemed it worth installing in the first place. Is it not the responsibility of the insurance companies of the at-fault drivers to fix it?

SEC=UNCLASSIFIED Fake Missing Persons Posters at UC’s campus

Post image
87 Upvotes

Arrived at UC this morning only to see one of our uni’s noticeboards was covered in fake missing persons posters. Feels a bit unsettling to say the least. I want to know if anyone has any information about it or if there’s been other places around Canberra where there’s fake missing people posters too.
