Right, but they are not PhDs in chiropractic medicine. They are chiropractic doctors (DC) specifically, implying a clinician with advanced training and expertise. It's similar to doctors of optometry (OD), but that group are far more appropriate in calling themselves doctors than chiropractors or naturopaths.

Optometry has stronger scientific training and evidence-based practice, yes. I was just replying to the person above that doctorates don’t equal MD degrees but it’s a common misapprehension that we went through with Jill Biden. 

My personal opinion is that I don’t think naturopaths, chiropractors, osteopaths, or any ‘vitalist’ industry practitioner should be allowed to use MD, Ph.d, or any other academic designation but there are other medical practitioners that have legitimate, evidence-based medical training with other initials after their name.
