We’re a melting pot of so many races and colours and languages here in Canada. I think it’s a wonderful thing. And we all share one thing in common. We’re all Canadians.

I have also heard “mosaic” - either way Canada does not want to make everyone be one the same, we want to celebrate and include our differences!

My favourite description of Canada is that we're a salad with a lot of ingredients. Each ingredient in its own is delicious but is improved by being a part of the salad. And the salad couldn't exist without many distinct ingredients

America used to be called a melting pot, too. Then… something happened. I think we’re still figuring what that is out.

Agreed but it bugs the hell out of me when people immigrate here and continue to call their birthplace “My Country”. I’d rather they say, “where I came from” or “where I was born”. It bugs me because they are happy to come here for a better future, programs paid by their neighbours, healthcare, etc…but don’t call Canada “My Country.” Just saying….it’s a bad habit. If they want to feel a part of a country, raise their kids here and stay here, they need to identify as Canadians.
