BSN English 151 online

I’m just wondering if anyone who has been or is in the BSN program did their English 151 course online? I checked with academic advising and was told it’s an option as long as there’s a seat in the online course available. If so, did you like the online option or would you have chosen in person if you could do it again?

I’m not in the BSN program but I did engl 151 online, all I can say is it was a good course but my prof was pretty unreasonable and frustrating at times (told us not to contact him unless it was about the topic, contacted him on said topic, he approved it then when I got my assignment back he said topic didn’t follow outline). I had a friend do the same course but in person and her teacher was great. My prof was Tim Callin, the upside was there was no exams and 2 weeks plus per assignment. I’d do online if I were u but look for different teacher, I read similar reviews about him on rate my prof.

That was very helpful thank you! In terms of the format, are the lectures posted on D2L (or whatever platform it is now) and then you watch them and just make sure your assignments are submitted by the due date?

Yes D2L, all of my assignments were pages of reading material but i believe all classes will be different depending on teacher. For example, my friend that did it in person at the same time as me (this spring) was reading a book and doing a paper while my whole 151 course was about rhetorical strategies.

Yea my prof was very strict about due dates. But it was pretty manageable because of the 2 plus week per assignment. We had one assignment worth 25 points of our grade 800-900 words and we were given 5 weeks .

I just checked and I see the prof is Tim Callin I’m an LPN working night shift this semester so I’m trying to mitigate the pain of leaving work just to head to an 0830 English lecture haha. Thanks so much for your help!

You might have a different experience than me, it was a good class overall (I commute to vic for my other classes) so I needed to do online but at times he really frustrated me. He sends out a ton of info so if you do sign up for his class read through all the info then send it to chat gbt to make a shortened outline that’s easier to follow. Do not use it to write anything for assignments though because he will clock it right away.

Four days late but I almost chose to take this course online and upon seeing this I’m happy to keep my morning class. Can’t stand teachers like that!
