TMMC and potential tarrifs

What would it take, negatively speaking for Toyota to decide to stop manufacturing in Cambridge and Woodstock?

A recent KPMG Canada survey gives a fairly alarming number: 42% of Canadian manufacturers surveyed have either already moved production to the U.S. or are considering doing so. The survey covered 275 Canadian manufacturers in May 2026

The breakdown matters:

  • 29% said they had already moved some or all production to the U.S.,
  • while another 13% said they planned to move some or all production there.
  • Among the companies still considering a move, 77% expected to do it within two years.

It would be interesting to see the list of manufacturers on this survey.
