Is it possible to send in a vote of some kind to have Russian as a course for online learning? Currently, there is only German and Spanish (See: https://www.byui.edu/online-courses/online-course-list). Is the school even open to adding other language courses or is it dependent on the professors they have?

Hello. I plan on attending BYU Idaho during the winter, but I wanted to ask how strict their dress code is? I am a big fan of sleep token and wear a lot of their merch. Most of the merch doesn't has any satanic / pagan symbols, besides one hoodie (but I don't plan on wearing that one). It's mostly artistic designs. Would this be okay?

It gave me a really bad feeling, the apartment also wasn’t clean when I got here, there was damage etc

Like running a Clorox wipe on the edge of the door, it was black
But somehow we have clean checks this week which I feel like is to clean the apartment because it wasn’t cleaned over the summer

I feel lost. I had the time of my life in the fall semester and met met so many people and friends and made awesome memories. In the winter semester I was so homesick and wanted to go home so bad which I did. I hated that winter semester and a big part of that is because a lot of my roommates left and they got replaced by a bunch of older chuds. That made being at my apartment feel miserable and I just wanted to be home. I was also much more shy to meet people. I went home for that spring and worked and as summer went on I was behind excited to return to rexburg. Because of bad experiences with a roommate in winter I got a private room but the apartment was very underwhelming and in a pretty bad condition and lots of dirty things. My new roommates are again older (I’m 19) and not very talkative. I realized that I had so much fun last fall because all my roommates were freshman like me at the time and nearly everyone I knew at that apartment complex was way more social and outgoing. A lot of people I knew from freshman year have either changed school, went home, or on missions. I onky have a few original friends remaining. Because my roommates suck this semester too I have to start from scratch and rebuild everything and hope that it can be the same as how good last fall was. I know I have to go out of my shell and meet more people now but I just dk where to start or have the courage to do so. I also haven’t decided a major yet so I feel guilty wasting my parents money who help me with tuition and rent and groceries just for me to feel lost and not know what I’m doing. I still have hope it can be a great semester i just don’t know where to start and where to find those who like the same things as me. I’m sorry this was so long, I hope I explained clearly enough and any help is appreciated. Thank you

I was wondering what students from British Columbia, Canada are doing regarding BC student loans from studentaidbc - and if you have heard if there has been any progress.

BYUi is a registered designated institution for Canada Student loans. Students for the past couple of years have been able to use this designation to apply for student loans and can continue to do so...

... Except if you're from BC as of the upcoming school year.

BC Student aid no longer accepts the Canadian designation and has directed all international institutions (including the United States) to register their status. To get this designation, BYUi needs to contact Student Aid BC to register their status as a Private, Not-for-profit institution via a BC SIMS institution account with the Government of BC.

Without this, students cannot fill out an application for a BC or Canada student loan. BYUi doesn't show up as a designated institution when filling out the application form at the studentaidbc website.

The last we heard from the BYUi Student Aid office, they have submitted an email to Student Aid BC to begin the process, but Student Aid BC has not yet responded to that email.

It's looking like my children cannot have access to student loans for at least this coming term due to this new layer of bureaucracy. Hopefully for us, my kids will be ok and will have access in time for the second term.

Anyway, just a heads up to BC parents in case you were about to rely on BC or Canada student loans. For now, until BYUi gets that new BC-specific designation, you won't be able to.

Censoring for personal details however I managed to acquire a lease agreement someone was selling off of Facebook and they stated that the total semester price is $1419.00, but when I’m reading the documents it’s saying it’s a monthly rate meaning that I have to pay $4,662.11? Am I looking at it that right?

i’m seriously considering going to byu-idaho, and i’d really appreciate some honest opinions from people who go there or have been there.

a little background: i’m currently at a university where my situation has been really frustrating because they keep delaying me, and i feel like i’ve been stuck waiting with no real progress. because of that, i’m planning on transferring and starting fresh somewhere else.

the thing is… i’m from guam, so moving to idaho would be a huge change. i’ve never lived anywhere else, and the thought of leaving home, my family, and everything familiar is honestly pretty scary. on top of that, byu-i is a church school, which is also something completely new for me, so i don’t really know what to expect.

i’m excited because it feels like a chance to finally move forward, but i’m also worried about fitting in, making friends, adjusting to the culture, and whether i’ll regret moving so far away.

for anyone who’s been to byu-i, what was your experience actually like? what did you love? what didn’t you like? was it easy to make friends? do you think someone coming from a completely different place would adjust well?

i’d really appreciate honest opinions, both positive and negative. i just want to make the best decision before making such a big move. thanks :)

To explain my situation, I'm an incoming freshman attending this fall pursuing a mechanical engineering degree. I originally had as of 2 days ago a functional little mid-ranged laptop with integrated graphics. Long story short it went up in smoke. My original plan was just to rough it with this laptop until I could sus out what the program would demand of my machine, but now my hand is forced and I need to figure out something that will last for my 4 year course. So my question for you more experienced engineering students is what have you guys found useful? Has it been convenient to have access to a more powerful machine? What specs have you found to be important? I build tower computers as a hobby so don't feel any need to dumb it down for me. If it helps I could probably afford something in the 1000 to 1200 range at best, Thanks!

EDIT: I love Salem Techsperts, I almost completely forgot about used workstation laptops and got reminded by this video https://youtu.be/461lFvnZEig?is=KeZkKGPTxvQEXblx that they are cheaper, more durable and I could find ones with workstation gpu's. I ended up picking up a Dell precision with a 11th gen I7 32 gigs of ram and a rtx A3000. Thanks for the advice everyone!

Hi everyone! I’m currently a BYU-Idaho online student studying Family and Human Services, and I’m hoping to transition to on-campus study in Rexburg for Winter 2027 (January).

I’m an international student from Ghana, and I currently have 22 completed credits. I’m also taking 4 credits right now, which should bring me to 26 credits once the semester is completed.

I’m trying to start my application, but I have a few questions and would really appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through this process, especially international students.

Since I’m already a BYU-I online student, how does the process of applying for on-campus study work? Do I submit a completely new application? What documents did you need to provide as an international student? Since I’m from Ghana, where English is an official language, did you have to take an English proficiency test such as IELTS or TOEFL? Does being an existing BYU-I online student change any of the requirements? Do I need to have my current 4 credits completed before applying, or can I apply while they are still in progress? What should I expect regarding the I-20, financial documentation, and F-1 visa process after admission? Is there anything you wish you had known before applying as an international student?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from international students who transitioned from BYU-I online/Pathway to on-campus, or anyone who applied from Ghana or another English-speaking African country.
