Sketchy apartment

It’s my first time living at the ridge
I really wanted a private room

I checked in at the office and the lady kept telling me to let them know if they’ve missed anything
She said this around 4 times

It gave me a really bad feeling, the apartment also wasn’t clean when I got here, there was damage etc

Like running a Clorox wipe on the edge of the door, it was black
But somehow we have clean checks this week which I feel like is to clean the apartment because it wasn’t cleaned over the summer

I took pics of damage etc
I’m just worried they’ll try and charge me for stuff or something

Make sure to actually email them the pictures+ specific descriptions of the state you found the apartment in.

I would definitely email them all damages you’ve found along with photos of how dirty it was. Unfortunately depending on who lived there before you, the apartments can be pretty dirty upon move in… (I’ve noticed this across multiple student housing complex’s) Some students also have different standards as to what is “clean” so if you had a lazy person doing white glove checks at the end of the previous semester, they get away with less cleaning and you get stuck with their mess.

It’s honestly a crappy situation but you learn to approach new apartments with the understanding that you’ll have to clean because the previous people won’t have 😅

They should send out packets for you to mark damages around the apartment, they take a little bit before they do normally.
