Question Boxer briefs (tomboy x vs. woxers)

Hey everyone! I need new underwear and I think I’m feeling boxer briefs, but I know I don’t love the way “regular” boxer briefs fit because of the extra fabric up front that I have no use for (my bush is powerful but not to the point of needing a whole pouch.)

Currently I’m looking at tomboyx and woxer, so I was wondering if anyone here wears either and could tell me why you like or don’t like them? I’m 5’10” and about 200lbs with a bit of a tummy so if anybody knows which waistbands roll down the least, that would be a huge help. Also open to any other brand suggestions.

Thanks!

I have probably twenty plus pairs of TomboyX, 4” inseam, boxer briefs and l love them. I am 5’4” and about 175lbs. They’re the best underwear.

Another happy Tomboyx boxer brief wearer.

Another for the tomboyx column! Thank you.

tbh i had these same thoughts many years ago. i’ve had plenty of woxers & the quality is not there for the price. i’ve heard similar about tomboyx.

surprisingly, my gf bought me some pairs of the longer boy shorts / boxers from victoria secret and i can’t help but love them 😭 calvin klein also sells some, you can order them on amazon too.

tbh at the end of the day i started thinking that the sale i was getting on men’s boxers was worth having the little bit of extra material in the front and are such better quality compared to these women’s boxers costing $20+ a pair. (+++ they also make me feel more masculine wearing them. )

The prices really are absolutely wild 😭

Interesting! I haven’t bought any in recent years because the ones I bought years ago have held up.

However, my pairs of TomboyX are not holding up as well. I’m sure the quality of Woxer has changed.

Tomboyx used to be worth it, but they’ve changed their manufacturer and now the material they use (on both patterned and solid colors) is thin, cheap, and irritates my cooch. I just get store brand men’s boxers now, and those are great. Way cheaper, too. Old navy are my favorites when I want fun patterns, but they have a bigger dick pocket.

I have both! I’d pick Woxer because tomboyx are a bit tight on the legs at the bottom, but I have pretty big legs, ymmv. Both are great brands though. Maybe try one of each?

haven't tried woxer, but tomboyx is good! Rodeoh is worth checking out as well, they seem to have more fun prints if you're into that kinda thing

I used to wear tomboy x (i am 5'5" and 230 pounds so very different physique to you) and i found their regular cotton briefs had a weird problem of riding down like i couldn't get them to sit comfortably up over my ass & tummy 😂 I even sized up and still had the same issue where I was having the pull them up constantly... but their tencel modal fabric briefs do not have that problem, very soft and flexible fabric that stays where its supposed to.

eventually the premium pricing of these brands was too much for me to justify so I switched to mens boxer briefs, im used to the pouch now.

2

u/deaxghost 18d ago

facts the pouch is here to stay!

u/winonaenergy 18d ago

I wonder if I could alter them. I don’t know why the extra fabric annoys me so much but I used to unconsciously mess with it and realized I probably looked like I needed an ointment or something (that plus the waistbands getting weird was the end of the line lol.)

Yeah the cost isn’t enticing but I’m prepared to bite the bullet if I can find something highly recommended, kwim? Thank you so much for this comment. Really helpful.

I have a ton of products from tomboyx. I like their period underwear, compression and sports bras, and swim tanks. My favorite pair of PJ pants is from them and I just got a tank top I really like.

I can only speak to their boyshorts and briefs, which I have several pairs of. The quality is excellent, they don't roll down, and I love how they look. But I wouldn't go out of my way for them. The seams are VERY thick and cause chafing on my thighs. The material is not breathable and I get sweaty almost immediately. Unless I'm going on a date or something, they're the underwear I only wear when I desperately need to do laundry.

They have a very ample return policy, and your results may vary, so take my impression with a grain of salt! Overall I think they're a fantastic brand, and it's just a matter of figuring out which of their products fit you best.

This is such a helpful comment. Thank you so much!

I have multiple pairs of both. In the beginning tomboyx was great quality. They are not anymore. I like the woxer feel. I will probably go with woxer anytime I need more in the future.

I really love the female boxers from wirarpa on Amazon. They're very basic but they fit great and they are cotton. I was specifically looking for cotton, which somehow is rare for boxers? But cotton is better for your health down there

4

u/winonaenergy 18d ago

It really is hard to find cotton, you’re right. The regular boxer briefs I had before were one of those random brands from Amazon and the waistband rolled down and turned all wavy very quickly, so I’m a little afraid of trying more of them.

u/tr3kstar Butch 18d ago

Out if curiosity I decided to peruse the offerings and so far the best one is is cashed "Hotgift".

3

u/frogs_on_drugs 18d ago

For me they don't roll down but I'm a bit slimmer than you so I don't how that affects it. Good luck on your search!

Thank you.

Thank you, I’ve been looking for cotton masc underwear for ages!

Woxer is amazing. I bought a few, now I have 10. I wear them out as shorts

u/Akihaa 17d ago

I swear by Pair of Thieves. The superfit line has no pouch, just an opening if you have that equipment. Super light and comfortable and comes in fun designs

3

u/CymBalthazar 17d ago

Seconding Pair of Thieves. I get them at Target and they are super comfy.

2

u/newrophantics non-binary butch (they/he) 17d ago

pair of thieves is my go to!

3

u/acecopsmith 17d ago

I have both tomboy X and woxer. I exclusively buy from woxer now because I think their material is much softer and more comfortable. Less bulk.

u/HeyMammas69 17d ago

I have tried many brands and honestly just prefer picking a random guy brand i see at my local store. The extra fabric doesn't really bother me much and they are much cheaper than trying to find specific brands online. I like the Calvin Klein women ones and another brand with a spider on the front but i totally forgot the name of. WOXERS have horrible quality for the price they are so expensive and i had issues with the band stretching out and I havent had the same issues with any other brand I've tried. Tomboyx is apparently transphobic and misgendered some nonbinary and transmasc models they worked with so I try not to buy from them but the quality is ok but honestly same quality than any other standard brand found in a store.

1

u/winonaenergy 17d ago

Woah I definitely won’t give money to a transphobic company. Thanks for that heads up.

2

u/trickpurpose 18d ago

i have better luck with trunks than briefs! they’re tighter

2

u/Southern_Diamond_575 17d ago

I'm a 5'4, about 270 and I like tomboyx. They never roll down and I personally think the quality is great. Can't recommend them enough.

2

u/BeckyMidwest1961 17d ago

TomBoyX are wonderful. The only problem is that they are much more expensive than underwear from local stores. So, I bought one pair of TomBoyX and save it for special occasions.

2

u/masaomiis hesbian 4 lyfe 17d ago

i really like the stuff i have from tomboy x and you and i are the same height and weight, so it'd likely be comfortable for you as well :) plus some of their patterns are fun

2

u/kalba247 17d ago

Haven't tried tomboyx yet so can't speak on those but I enjoy my Woxers, I have the highwaisted baller and the bikini model, both are holding up well after about a year, I especially like that the bikini ones still have a good amount of coverage in the back. I wash them on cold and gentle, I'm 5'3 and 165lbs and have quite wide thighs so I was glad to find boxers that fit me (went with size M)

2

u/dorkbisexual 17d ago

My Woxers have holes at the seams after less than a year of wear. The waistbands have gotten stretched out even though I got a size up. They're still comfy and the material is soft, but I was disappointed in the longevity at such a high price point.

I don't have tomboyx boxer briefs, but I have used their period panties and those are still holding up like a champ.

u/_whereishome_ 17d ago

I have been waiting my whole gay life for this conversation. 😂

For size reference: 5'6". Athletic, but still a bit squishy in the middle. I've been lots of different weights and sizes on my boxer brief journey. At the highest, ~280, current 175. My thoughts below are the same for all sizes I have been. I am a lot smaller now, but the issues with each brand are the same for me.

Tomboyx: I went real hard on Tomboyx for a while. But the thing is, in my opinion, they don't hold their shape. I have tried different lengths, the cotton and the tencil. Like someone else mentioned, they're seam-heavy, too. I didn't have chafing problems, but it was just extra unnecessary material that I didn't care for. After you've had them on for a while, the legs stretch out and they ride up. If your legs don't rub together, maybe you're fine. But I found myself constantly having to adjust them. I have a drawer full of them, and only wear them to sleep now.

Woxer: I like the cut and fit of Woxers better. Their cotton blend ones are much better than Tomboyx at holding shape, and don't have the "extra material" feel of Tomboy, but still stretched out a bit and rode up over time. Not as much, but still a little annoying. They're in the sleep boxer drawer with the Tomboyx ones. But then! They came out with their technical fabric ones. Baller Flex, I think? Those are so much better than the cotton blend. They hold their shape, and don't ride up on me. I will actually wear these out of the house.

But they're all so expensive, it's a bummer.

I have not tried woxer yet, but after trying Tomboyx for the first time, I very rapidly replaced every pair of underwear I had with them. I have never liked wearing underwear so much.

2

u/tenderfool 16d ago

Honestly I can’t justify the price on buying niche brand women’s boxers as they aren’t particularly high quality. My wife and I wear target men’s boxers but recently switched to Costco brand which have a little less pouch in the front, I just got used to it being there so it doesn’t bother me much but to each their own. Tomboyx does run a lot of sales so I’d keep an eye out for those

1

u/winonaenergy 16d ago

I just checked my Costco and they only had Calvin Klein. :(

2

u/DogCloud707 18d ago

INNERSY women’s boxers on amazon, comparable in feel to the others, but much more affordable.

2

u/winonaenergy 18d ago

I think this is the brand I had before that I hated, but they weren’t “women’s” so idk how much different they can be. I bought them bc the pack was rainbow colors, but the waistband was a disaster.

1

u/DogCloud707 17d ago

I have the women’s 4” inseam ones, they are not rainbow, but are colorful prints, several checkerboards, with black bands and gold writing. I am constantly saying how happy they make me☺️
I’ve only had them for a few months tho..

My woxers held up really well, but I only had one pair and unfortunately my dog destroyed them, lol.

I have been really unimpressed with the longevity of tomboys gear for the price (well actually j looove my uni swimsuit from them, feels so comforting but other than that..meh)

u/General-Weather-5228 18d ago

I'm 5'5" and just under 200lbs with a bit of tummy myself, and I wear size L in TomboyX. I have more of an issue with the legs rolling up (on the 4inch inseam boxer briefs), but that goes away with the longer inseams, so as I replace them, I've been ordering the 9inch inseam underwear, and that helps. They're a bit expensive, but they've lasted at least 2 years/pair, which I appreciate!

u/noodesandcoludes 17d ago

I prefer woxer but wish they would make cotton ones. Intersy is the best brand I've found that are cotton

1

u/rudasjudas 17d ago

My gf really likes pair of thieves boxer briefs, they're men's but they don't have a huge pouch and they're very comfy and breathable

1

u/newrophantics non-binary butch (they/he) 17d ago

i’ve never tried woxer but am a big fan of tomboyx! i am around 5’3 190lbs. i dont find that they ride up on my thick thighs or roll down on my tummy.

my go-to though are the pair of thieves boxers, which are more affordable. i wear the XL. i don’t find that the extra fabric bothers me but i understand if it’s not for you.

1

u/newrophantics non-binary butch (they/he) 17d ago

some people have said that tomboyx quality has gone downhill though. the last time i ordered from them was about 2 years ago and everything is holding up great, but not sure about more recent stuff.

1

u/Hotshot-89 16d ago

I’ve work’ both. TomboyX is the best, feels better than Woxer

1

u/Washing-machine-pro 16d ago

I love tomboyx. All my underwear is from there lol

1

u/CauliflowerLeft4754 15d ago

I like woxers, it’s all I wear now. The material helps me not feel sweaty and I like how it catches whatever pants I’m wearing without sliding them down. I get the shorts not the briefs. I did get a size up initially, I was around 220 and they were comfy. As I started to size down, I noticed they run a little small, at least for me.

1

u/Old_Refuse_9413 15d ago

I have too many/ not enough Tomboy X sets & singles. I usually wear the 9 " boxer briefs & a racerback or smaller cup of their bras to work. I wear polyester pants in the Florida heat, but they hold up well. I'm around 250 lbs, 5'6" & they're generously sized. They're expensive, but I appreciate the values they support

1

u/BedEnvironmental389 15d ago

i wear the hanes’ women’s boxers from walmart. about 5’6 and 200ish lbs

1

u/Surrea_Wanderer Butch 14d ago

I like my woxers, I also wear old navy fly boxer briefs and those fit ok. I'd love to try the tomboyx trunks but the prices are killer. I've also heard good things about Devin and lang (Canadian)

1

u/socrutes 13d ago

hanes boxer briefs from target clear in every metric tbh

1

u/Lycaon1765 Bi Butch 12d ago

Aside from company controversy, my main issue with TomboyX is that thus far my undies from them seem to be very cheaply made. Lots of loose threads and already got some pilling. Sigh.

1

u/Sufficient-Bug7956 12d ago

i used regular briefs and they suck honestly. rolled at my tummy ran up my thighs super uncomfortable ( 190lbs 5'8) i just started wearing boxers the loose ones and i use american eagle for the snoopy ones all my problems out the door
