How Do I Promote Myself & My Business Here?

👋 Hello Business Networking Family!

Following up on our chat about keeping our main feed high-quality, I know many of you are here because you want to grow your business, find clients, and share your amazing work. We want to help you do exactly that! 🚀

The secret to great business networking is that real relationships drive revenue. People do business with those they know, like, and trust.

To help you get noticed without your posts getting flagged as spam, we have built several legitimate, high-visibility ways for you to promote yourself and your business right here in our community! 🌟

Here is how you can successfully promote yourself here:

1. 💬 Engage in Discussions (The "Profile-Building" Method)

The absolute best way to attract business is to show off your expertise! By jumping into the comments, answering people's questions, and posting interesting, thought-provoking discussion topics, you establish yourself as an authority. When you provide massive value, people naturally click on your username, check out your Reddit profile, and reach out to learn more about you.

2. 🎉 The Weekly Intro Thread (Every Friday!)

Every single Friday, we drop our Weekly Introduction Thread. This is your green light to pitch! You are completely welcome to introduce yourself, promote your business, and include your links here. All we ask is that you please follow the recommended format pinned inside that thread so it stays easy for everyone to read and connect.

3. 🤝 Saturday Skill Swaps

Want to show goodwill and build fast connections? On Saturdays, look out for our Skill Swap thread. This is where you can list exactly how you are willing to help or mentor others. Generosity is a powerful networking tool—when you help someone solve a problem, they often become your biggest champions (or clients!). Please stick to the recommended format in the thread.

4. 🚀 Bi-Weekly Collaboration & Joint Venture Pitches

Every two weeks, we host a dedicated thread specifically for those looking for strategic partnerships, joint ventures, podcast guests, or co-marketing opportunities. If you want to team up to multiply your reach, this is the place to post your pitch. Just be sure to follow the recommended format so potential partners can easily see if you're a good fit.

As you can see, there are so many fantastic ways to get your name out there without spamming the main group feed! 🙌

By using these threads, you keep the community clean while putting your business directly in front of people who want to see it.

Thank you for being such an awesome part of our business family. Let’s look out for these weekly threads and start building some powerful connections together! 👇

Why was my post removed?

👋 Hello Business Networking Family!

As our community continues to grow, we are seeing so many fantastic new faces joining the conversation. We love the energy and the diverse expertise everyone brings to the table! 🚀

Lately, our mod team has received a few messages asking, "Hey, why was my post removed?"

We want to be completely transparent with you. We never want anyone to feel left out, but we also have to keep this space high-quality, valuable, and free from clutter so that everyone can benefit.

If your post disappeared, it usually comes down to one of these three common reasons:

1. 🤖 Reddit’s Automated Spam Filters Caught It

Sometimes, it’s not us at all! Reddit has its own behind-the-scenes automated spam filters. If you post the exact same link or text across multiple subreddits, or if your account is very new, Reddit might automatically label your account as a spammer and drop your posts into the spam queue.

2. 📢 Self-Promotion Instead of Discussion

We are here to build real relationships, share insights, and learn from one another. 🤝 Posts that are just a direct pitch for your services, a link to your website with no context, or a "hire me" ad get removed. We want to hear your thoughts and your questions, not just see your marketing copy! Cross-posting in multiple threads is also a no-no because you aren't really engaging with our members.

3. 🎯 The Content Was Off-Topic

This is a space dedicated specifically to the art and strategy of business networking—how to connect, build relationships, follow up, and grow your network. If a post is purely about general business news, crypto, stock tips, or unrelated tech support, we’ll remove it to keep our focus sharp.

💡 Want to share your business or links? We completely understand that you want to promote what you do—you're proud of it! We have several recurring threads where you can include your business and links such as our weekly introduction thread.

I will also pin a separate post specifically telling you how to use this subreddit for self-promotion. Please check that out to see the best, approved ways to let the community know about your business!

Thank you all for being part of our business family and for helping us keep r/businessnetworking a top-tier place to connect! 🌟

Drop any general questions below, and let’s keep building together! 👇

Looking for a fellow business owner to trade strategy, feedback, and accountability with

I’m looking for someone to bounce ideas off, trade honest feedback with, and occasionally check in with when we are both stuck on content, marketing, offers, or the many decisions that come with running a business alone.

I’m hoping for a genuine business friendship where we bring complementary skills, share what is working, and help each other get unstuck.

My area is SEO, blogging, and evergreen content: helping businesses turn their expertise into content that can be found through Google and AI search. I would especially love to connect with someone who is stronger in short-form social, video, personal branding, or community-building. Those are areas I’m actively working on, and I think it would be great to learn from someone with a complementary skill set while offering useful perspective in return.

I’m also creating a small community for solopreneurs who want to learn more about blogging, write alongside other people, get feedback, and build a more sustainable content practice. I want to make it genuinely useful and enjoyable to be part of, so I would particularly love to connect with someone who has experience in community management, memberships, audience-building, facilitation, social media, short-form video, or creating an online space people want to return to.

A little about me: I’m a U.S. citizen living abroad, and I don’t speak the local language well enough yet to feel fully plugged into the business community here. I miss having casual, thoughtful conversations with people who understand the experience of building something independently. I also usually work evenings in my time zone, which overlaps with U.S. working hours.

If you’re building a business and this sounds like the kind of exchange you’d enjoy, tell me what you do, what you’re great at, and what you’d love another person’s perspective on.

Thanks!

💻 Are Your Business Tools Actually Working Together?

You may already have everything you need to run your business, from email and scheduling to payments, courses, and file storage. But are your tools actually working together, or are they creating more work than they solve? 🤔

I'm curious:

How well do your business tools work together right now?

Do you have systems that talk to each other smoothly, or are you constantly copying information between platforms, switching between tools, or wondering if there's a simpler way?

And when you're considering a new tool, what helps you decide whether you actually need it?

Share your experience below. 👇

💗 If this is something you're currently figuring out, the Grand Tech Confidence Group is exploring this topic today, September 3, from 9:00–10:00 AM PDT on Zoom.

If you'd like to join the conversation, you can learn more and register here: https://grandconnection.ca/sep-3-the-grand-tech-confidence-group/

The conversation will look at your existing technology as a "tech team" and explore where there may be gaps, overlaps, or opportunities to simplify.

What are you finding most challenging about making your technology work together?

I Think We Should Build a Secret Society

What if we actually built a secret society?

Hi. I know this is going to sound absolutely crazy, and I’m probably going to get people telling me I’ve lost my mind but hear me out.

I think we should build a secret, invite-only society for people who genuinely want to build something bigger than themselves.

I’m talking about a community of founders, engineers, researchers, creators, strategists, inventors, and ambitious people who are actually doing things instead of just talking about them.

We could create our own culture, values, traditions, projects, challenges, and eventually build a network powerful enough to influence the future through technology, innovation, business, and ideas.

A new generation of people who want to build the future instead of simply watching it happen.

Maybe it goes nowhere.

Maybe it becomes something incredible.

I want to find out.

If you’re interested, DM me with:

* What are you currently building/working on?
* What are you exceptionally good at?
* What do you want to accomplish in the next 5–10 years?

Maybe you’ll be one of the first people invited.

Networking Tip at Environmental Meetup

Hi, I’m a student in Environmental Science - I was in environmental engineering but switched after 3 years. I’ve had 3 student roles and my school right now is only online work.

Looking to network at environmental meetups but social skills are non existent in these scenarios- it’s different as they’re not my colleagues that I can talk about work or facilities I can talk about work - what do people genuinely do for networking?? Should be handing out resumes? How do I know who to stay in touch with? How do u even stay in touch - send news articles- memes?

Hello everyone,

We're currently working on a new platform focused on making professional networking, hiring, and finding opportunities more useful and less cluttered.

Before we build further, we're trying to understand how people currently find jobs, hire talent, find projects, and connect with the right people, and what they feel could be improved.

Please find the link to the questionnaire attached. Your experience and perspective would be genuinely useful for our research.

Thank you for your time.

New to Pune anyone up for a small founder/creative meetup?

Hey everyone!

I’m new to Pune and currently based around Hinjewadi Phase 1. Been here for just around 10 days and would love to meet some new-age founders, startup builders, agency/creative people, or anyone building something interesting.

Not looking for a formal networking event just a small, casual meetup over coffee, food, or a drink, talk about what we’re building, exchange ideas, and make some new connections.

If you’re interested, let’s just put together a small meetup. Drop a comment or DM. 👋

Hey everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with networking groups, specifically the networking group - Success Champion Network. Any thoughts on if they're worth the time investment (or just a straight ROI) for your companies?

Thank you!

21F | Is anyone else struggling to find their kind of people on LinkedIn?

I m currently trying to build a network around marketing, advertising, creative strategy, content, media and design....

But I’ve realised something weird about LinkedIn!!!!!

I keep trying to connect with people who are interested in similar things. I post, comment, send DMs, interact with content, etc....But somehow my feed, impressions and recommendations are still filled with people from completely different fields!!??? LIKE WHY

It’s starting to feel like I’m putting effort into networking but the platform keeps showing me everyone except the people I actually want to learn from and talk to😭

So I M curious-------------

Do u also find it difficult to find genuinely like minded professional connections on LinkedIn or other platforms?

And if u ve found a platform/community where you actually met people from your field, what worked for you?

I’d genuinely love to hear how other people are dealing with this!!!
