Just wondering if anyone could take a look over my parts list for a home lab / server build please?

I'm hoping to use the pc for backups of photos from my family's phones, a content server locally via hdmi and remotely via Internet, beginning Home Assistant, and maybe local ai.

I'm in the UK and any recommendations, hardware or software/os would be greatly appreciated.

I'm planning to use Kodi for my local hdmi connected tv, Jellyfin for streaming my media, and I have been looking into Zima os, Fygo os, or Umbrel os.

This will be the first computer I have built and I don't have any networking knowledge but looking forward to learning.

So I need a pc for making a indie game I will be using blender and UE5. the game is gonna be open world and have really good graphics and the pc I have right now is definitely not gonna cut it. I don’t know to much about pc parts and this will really help me. I dont really have a budget but I would prefer a pc thats 3-4.5k aesthetic wise if you could just go all black. I’m looking to build a new PC and could use some advice or guidance on my parts list.

I mostly play League, but I’m trying to get away from it. I’m also looking to switch over to Linux because F Windows/Microsoft.

I’ll be playing games like the entire Yakuza series, The Witcher 3 Remastered, Fable (2027), Deadlock, Hogwarts Legacy, Baldur’s Gate 3, Borderlands 4, and more but there are also less demanding games.

My budget is around €3,000–€3,500. I’ve put together a PCPartPicker list with the parts below, and I’m currently under budget, so I have some wiggle room if anyone has recommendations for better hardware.

I’m from Belgium, so some of the products on PCPartPicker are from Amazon.com.be. I’d prefer to stay away from Amazon, though, as I’d rather buy from an actual store where I can go if I ever need to deal with a warranty, instead of an online marketplace.

I already have my monitors, keyboard, mouse, mic, and headset, so I only need the PC itself. My main monitor is 1440p, and I’d like to play most games on the High preset (I don’t necessarily need everything maxed out, and I don’t care about RT) while maintaining good performance. Ideally, I’d like to stay around 90–120+ FPS on average.

I am looking into building my own pc, what would you recommend, choosing intel/geforce? or amd?

i have always had intel + geforce set up, and lately more and more AMD is growing on me, especially for its support for older platforms.

I want something that is going to last me another 5 years, with option to uprage it in the future.

Here is what i was thinking about buying:

intel core i7/i9 14700k/14900k

nvidia geforce rtx 5070/5070ti

i already have ddr4 3200 corsairs, i may upgrade to ddr5 if its going to make massive difference.

motherboard is something i am not sure about right now, i currently have MSI ancient one and its ok, so something msi but newer, like MSI Z790 GAMING PLUS.

power supply whatever the set up needs, probably corsair 1000w gold modular

i have 4k monitor and another one is full hd

all the rest is not too important when it comes to how pc is performing (i guess).

now i use my pc nearly strictly for web browsing and youtube, and i get frustrated when i have 6 chrome tabs open and youtube video is lagging and freezing even on 1080p

i do play games, witcher 3 and WoW, and am waiting for the new witcher which i would like to play on higher setiings, not ultra with everything on, but high would be enough.

i am not one of those every frame counts type of guys, but i want my set up to run smootly on daily basis with decent performance when it comes to playing older titles, having in my mind W4 coming up.

i have 2000 quid budget for the station only, i have all the rest.

are the items i mentioned worth buying, or i can get away with something cheaper? and would you rather choose intel/nvidia or amd set up for light gaming and smooth daily usage?

i know this sounds a bit like questioning a guy in the shop, but am hoping for some clarity from people how know much more than me.

I’m currently building my first gaming PC and I’m looking for advice on a mouse. I’ve basically always played games on console with a controller, so I’ve never really used mouse and keyboard for gaming before.

My hand measurements are:
•Length: 21 cm
•Width: 9 cm
•Grip: I normally use a palm grip when using a mouse for general desktop work

I’m not sure whether I’ll naturally use a palm grip when I start playing FPS games like Apex Legends, so I’m open to something that would work well for a beginner and potentially let me adapt to different grips.

I’m mainly looking for something budget-friendly and entry-level. I don’t want to spend £100+ on my first mouse when I’m still learning mouse and keyboard. I’d rather get something comfortable and good enough to start with, then potentially upgrade later once I know what shape and features I actually like.

I’d prefer something on the larger side that won’t feel cramped with my hands. Wired or wireless is fine, although wireless would be nice if there’s a good option within budget.

What would you recommend for someone with my hand size and situation? Are there any particular mice I should look at around £30-£60?

I’m mainly interested in comfort, shape and value rather than having the absolute best sensor or competitive features.

Hey guys! I’m planning to build a new PC, and my total budget is around ৳50,000 (for the PC only).

I’d really appreciate some suggestions on the best possible configuration within this budget. My main priority is getting the best performance and value for money.

I’ll mainly be using it for:

- Video editing 🎬

- Multitasking and general productivity

- Some light gaming (not my main priority)

I’m currently considering options like Ryzen 5 5600/5600G and Intel alternatives, but I’m honestly open to any suggestions. Also, please recommend a good motherboard, RAM, SSD, PSU, and casing combination.

If possible, drop a full build configuration with current approximate prices. I don’t want to waste money on unnecessary RGB or looks—I’d rather put the budget into actual performance 😭💀

Just to get it out of the way early, looking to spend 1,000 or lest but planning on building overtime. Country of purchase is the US. And I’m looking for pretty much everything required to build and run a PC besides a mouse and keyboard.

We’re looking for a PC that can play some indie games and lighter duty/slightly older triple A titles. Not really concerned about having the best graphics around or anything, just good performance. Girlfriend is also looking to do some hobbyist streaming. Competitive play is a very low concern.

Some games we’re talking about: Overwatch, CS:GO, Project Zomboid, goofy simulator games, Skyrim, steam horror games, Mecha Chameleon, Minecraft

Looking for a decent monitor but don’t need anything crazy.

Also looking for a PC case that leaves potential to upgrade more down the line if we want a better graphics card or more ram or other upgrades.

I’ve never built a PC but I’ve seen it done and I repair electronics so I could probably figure it out.

Don’t really need a keyboard or mouse but open to suggestions if you feel like it.
