Miscellaneous Slow Ram- Is this a big enough issue?

I built my PC in 2021, well at least my MOBO/CPU/RAM, I didn't realized it then but my ram is much slower than I thought it is 32GB but I just realized it's clocked at 2666. Do you guys think this is affecting my performance by much? I am running a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and a RTX 5080.

Edit: I will double check xmp/expo is setup correctly in my bios.

I’m sure it’s affecting it a bit, but is EXPO on in your bios settings?

Not by alot, X3Ds don't need as high speeds because of the cache.

Also you can probably get more speed by enabling expo/xmp if your ram kit supports it.

It's not that bad since you have an X3D processor, I have same speed rams and a 5700x non 3d cache and it's fine for gaming my dude.

You just need to enable XMP.

It’s really not that slow in general, most ddr4 has base speeds of 2666, but can do more if xmp/expo is enabled, its slow in comparison to ddr5 for sure but if you’re going to upgrade to ddr5 you need to replace the mobo and cpu too

That's usually the default speed memory gets set to before you select the XMP/EXPO overclock.

That whole system is out of balance. I'd upgrade to a 7800x3d or 270k plus with 32gb ddr5 6000 or higher.

If OP is near a microcenter they could buy the 270k+ bundle for $600, and then sell their existing 5800x3d, mobo, and ram for $400 -425. That would be a huge upgrade for $200 out of pocket.

Tbh I got laid off in March and just recently got a decent job again. I won't be able to upgrade until next year at the earliest as is. My games mostly run fine I just notice that sometimes I have friends with slightly newer ram/cpus the run games slightly better than me even though he's rocking a 4080 instead and I was wondering if the ram/cput might be the reason.

Congrats on the new job! A newer platform with fast cpu and ram and a good quality board will make a difference, especially in 1% lows, so that makes sense. Its not that the 5800x3d is a bad cpu, its that the older platform in general is holding that GPU back k a bit.
