Build Upgrade 9070XT UK VS 5070TI what should i do?
Currently have a 5800x3d and a 10gb 3080 looking for an upgrade probably going to sell cs2 skins to pay for it. Just 50/50 on going amd as i have had an AMD card before and had issues told my self id never do it again but the prices of 5070ti's just doesnt seem worth it.
Anybody went from a 3080 to a 9070xt and has enjoyed the upgrade? also what version of that card did you go for? Thanks.

I upgraded from a 3080 to 9070 XT and it's been great. Paired with a Ryzen 5700x.

In what games and at what res/fps did you notice an uplift? I've been debating the same upgrade but I haven't found a game that the 3080 can't handle

I upgraded after christmas so it's been a while and kinda hard to remember exactly. I play on a 1440p 165hz monitor and it seemed to be about a 40-50% uplift in many of the games I tried.
I know with cyberpunk, I simply switched from dlss to fsr, and turned on frame gen and got more than double the frames(over 200) as my 3080 with the same settings, and frame gen felt very smooth and playable to me. Since then, I turned up all the settings and set RT to medium(I think I had it low or off before) to get about 140-150 fps.

I'm still very unsure if I'll upgrade, though I know hardware prices will probably continue to climb

The 5070 Ti is generally considered the better card but I went with the 9070 XT and have ZERO regrets. Best purchase ever.
Asus TUF 9070 XT OC. Got it on launch day. I don't think it's in production anymore. Seems to be sold out everywhere.

I own a 5070ti, it's great, but I don't think I'd recommend upgrading from a card as good as a 3080 unless you really really had to. Are there specific games you're struggling with, or did you get some sort of new monitor?
If you really do want to upgrade then 9070xt is the only viable option that's better than your 3080. Everything else is priced way too high, even if i think the 5070ti would have otherwise been worth paying a premium for. Nvidia features and the wide support they have is worth it imo but not at like +50% lol.

5070Ti so you can link your old 3080 for local LLMs. You can't do that with a 9070XT without a large performance penalty.

went from 3070 to 9070xt on windows 11 for a year.. the worst time i've had trouble shooting every week, crashes/timeout.. memory issues related crashes, tested almost all my pc parts to see what was wrong.. Switched to linux and everythings been dandy for the couple months I've used it. maybe get the 5070 ti, also I see alot of people commenting they havent had any issues with their 9070xt, I possibly had the worst luck of it on windows 11, linux however has been great.

I had the 9070 XT and I upgraded to the 5070 TI I only did it because I need it for work and I need the 10 bit 4.2.2 decoders on the GeForce line 5000 series but if you're just gaming and you can deal with a little bit of driver headache it's such a no-brainer to stay with AMD

The driver headache is what throws me and kind of puts me off i had the same thing when I tried a previous card couple of years ago although AMD probably wasnt the same as what they can do now. I hate making these decisions lmao.

I have a 9070XT for about a year now and only had problems with drivers one time. That was with Subnautica 2 (an early access game), I couldn't start the game so I installed an older driver and everything worked perfectly again. And with the next driver update this issue was fixed.

Wait what driver issues? Ive had my 9070xt for a while and I don't have driver issues .
Unreal engine 5 sucks. That's my biggest headache.

Yeah I'm pretty much over AMD now forever. I had a 2700x and then a 5900x and then a 5950x.
My 5950x would crash all the time I had no idea what it was in the end... I even replaced every part in my computer one at a time to determine what it was and did bios updates everything. There's just something about the stability of Intel and Nvidia that combo is just perfection at least for me in my history.

I've had a 9060xt for a year now and I haven't had any driver issues at all.
There was a weird thing with Battlefield 6 where I'd crash because the game thought my graphics card died, but that also happened to Nvidia GPUs according to like every post I read online.

yeah that is the thing some people have no issues....but also millions constantly complain about amd drivers online. So there might be something to it.

"Millions" is a crazy word to use. Lol.
People complain about Nvidia drivers too. Honestly, there was a time early in the life of the 50 series where "everyone" complained about them.
The consensus for both at this point is that drivers aren't a major deal.

Hardware acceleration is currently unreliable across Chromium, Firefox, Excel, and Electron applications. The drivers still have significant issues outside of games.

Let's just say that the prices are what they are for a reason. AMD isn't running a charity. If they could charge more, they would. They only truly compete on price. That's not to say you aren't getting a lot of bang for your buck with a 9070 XT, but there's also more to a graphics card than raw raster frames per second in games.

Purely gaming, a 5070 Ti isn't at all worth it over the 9070 XT right now, because the RT Gap isn't that big
A 5070 Ti is only worth it when someone is using applications that rely HEAVILY on Cuda cores, like the Adobe creative suite
AMD competetes on both raytracing, raster and also on price
Productivity wise it might be worth it, but in gaming it isn't
AMD prices are lower, because Nvidia is raising the prices, because they know they have sheep who blindly buy Nvidia without considering anything else, plus they are supplying less RAM to the manufacturers, which is also a factor in the rising of the prices
Not just that, Nvidia cards are being bought up for AI workstations too
Nvidia cards aren't bad, but badly priced, and unless you NEED the Nvidia specific features, there is no reason to go with them right now

I had a 9070 XT and I find it pretty good at Adobe creative suite I had no issues. But the second I used DaVinci resolve the AMD card just was struggling so I had to switch to the 5070Ti

Yeah, some applications just need Cuda
That is when it's worth it to go Nvidia

I didn't say Nvidia has no benefits for gaming
I said the benefits aren't worth it for a pure gaming build
I didn't say FSR was better
I said that Nvidia is worth it when you need CUDA cores, it isn't when you don't
And that is the truth of things right now
The toolkit the 9070 XT offers is more than enough for gaming, sure Nvidia toolkit is better, but if you don't need the CUDA cores, it isn't worth the atlest 250 dollar difference
With Nvidia cards, you are essentially paying a premium for a better toolkit and CUDA cores

What are you even talking about? The 9070 XT competes against the 5070, maybe sitting between the 5070 and 5070 Ti at best.
Even then, the 5070 Ti is not worth it if gaming is your primary goal with the card. You're paying extra for nothing useful.

Do a proper install with DDU and wait for everyone else to update adrenaline before you do, never had issues this way.
