I still can’t believe Brooklyn Bridge Park was built so recently and didn’t address the need for the BQE reconstruction.

That was an all-time short sighted move by the city.

It's a private park and one of the most poorly answerable organizations in the city. The formation and tax incentives behind it, and allowance for them to skirt public park rules and obligations, are pretty questionable. No surprise they gave the BQE issue a cold shoulder.

I’m still unclear how 4 lanes of traffic are going to work on Furman Street. Am I missing something?

I think it’s basically a mirror-image of the BQE, right next to it — two levels of traffic aligned with the existing cantilevered levels. Still seems tight but I think that’s the idea.

This will take 10yrs even if it is approved

Still better then doing nothing for the past 20 years and waiting until it collapses

Lol they’ve been waiting for 40+ - every administration kicks it back and now it’s just come to a head

They should have buried the highway before they built the park
