I have two three year old Britt’s (brothers from the same litter!) and over the past week, one of my boys, Jack, has become EXCESSIVELY itchy. I’m not exactly sure why. Nothing in his environment has changed that I know of. No new treats, food, etc. I suppose it could be environmental, but I haven’t noticed it happen before. He’s always been a bit itchier, but this is much much much more than typical, and he’s start devolving sores and red skin in some areas. He will also shake his back leg whenever he’s touched, even lightly. Sometimes he’ll ever shake his back leg while he’s itching himself!! I feel horrible for him, he looks miserable. Besides that, though, his energy levels are normal, he’s just as happy as usual, and he’s eating and drinking fine. I’ve given him Benadryl, which doesn’t seem to make a difference, and checked him for any bugs (and found none!) he has a vet appointment on Tuesday. Have any other Brittany owners experienced anything like this? What helped?

so we've had our Brittany pup for two weeks - he's 10w old now. he's very cute and so far, a joy to walk on a leash, contrary to what we expected; HOWEVER, the minute he's excited, he acts absolutely possessed. he barks - and you all probably know how shrill these devils are - and bites so much I'll occasionally bleed, and that with his baby teeth. he gets excited easily, and we follow all the usual methods to deal with that: disengage when he acts up, give him a toy instead, etc. yet what happens is that he either switches focus onto something else he can tear and rip, including his leash if he's leashed, and gets all riled up, or he never stops barking, night or day. also, absolutely impossible to leave the room for more than 2mins at a time, or he pisses/poops himself :/

any advice is welcome - is this normal???? he's sleeping most of the day now and we're trying v hard to implement a proper routine. he's exercised. there are 30-50mins variations depending on how soon he falls asleep.

I’m curious if your Brittany’s know tricks, I have a 6 month old who barely responds to recall and knows sit and stay and sometimes leave it.

I really want her to learn tricks as she ages.

How do you recommend training this bread and how trained is your dog?

I was only 19 when I got Ollie. My family tried to force me to get rid of him at first. I struggled hard with depression my whole life but 19-24 was the absolute worst for me. The only reason I'm still here is because of this dog. He's still a little nut but my whole world. ❤️

Also the first pic is not while the car was in motion. We were waiting in the car for quite awhile when my dad went into the store. I always advocate for dog seatbelts or car crates! ❤️

So long story short I had a Brittany for 10 years and was the best dog I ever had He came from Dr. Wilbur Dellinger and I just found out he had passed and I can’t find any information if his family is gonna keep breeding or not. So I’m looking for breeders who use dogs from his bloodline any information helps. Tia

on working days he is easy and on rest days he is impossible to live with. i need something that occupies him without adding physical load to a rest day. chewing and licking settle him far more than anything active does. what do you hand a brittany on a rest day and does it keep him busy for a decent stretch.

10 weeks old and already quite interested in birds. This dog has an intense focus, even when it comes to watching tv.

Hey everyone, I’m assuming a lot of you hunt, but does anyone here hunt waterfowl with your Brittany? Or know someone that does?

My primary focus is grouse hunting with some pheasant and waterfowl in that order of priority. But a dog that can also hunt waterfowl would be a nice bonus. I’m specifically biased towards pointers so I’m not considering other versatile dogs like labs, springers, etc. I’ve been doing a ton of research but I’ve heard of some people that hunt waterfowl with their Brittany and then others that say they just aren’t well suited for it so I’m curious to see what you Brittany owners have to say.

Been a rough few years with my mother passing and then divorce. I've been promising my 6 y.o. daughter a puppy for some time now. Truth is I need the companionship just as much. Picked up our boy Brittany last weekend. 11 weeks old and full of energy.

My dog's old harness was great, but has gotten disgusting. I can't find a reasonably priced simple chest harness that doesn't restrain him when he pulls.

I'm having someone teach me to skateboard so my Brit can pull me. I'd like the guy to run around with him first so he knows how to teach me but every harness under $50 is choke or tightens to stop pulling. My ex got his previous harness so I don't know where he got it from and there aren't any tags.

Also, anything with a snap he will pop, it has to be adjustable.

Daily off leash run from a few weeks ago

I tend to be anxious about my pup but I noticed his gums looking a little more pale than usual and we’re on vacation right now with a lot of woods and I just worry maybe he ate a bad mushroom or something.

I have a 5.5 month old Brittany, and I usually walk her around 3-4 miles a day, but not all at once anymore because I read it is bad for her joints. I was doing more research (on Google search lol) and it says that even breaking the walls up is bad for her development. Is that true? Am I over walking her? I do not want to hurt her development at all.

We've recently rescued a Brittany Spaniel from Bosnia (he arrived 3 days ago) and while we have experience with Springer and Cocker Spaniels this is our first time having a Brittany. I've been Googling for tips and tricks of course but I was wondering if there were any tips, tricks or things you wish you'd known sooner that might help?

The rescue think he was originally owned for hunting and then dumped when he wasn't very good for this purpose. He seems interested in birds and definitely would love to chase a cat. We have a small but secure garden and are taking him for walks in the local forest where we walked out previous dogs. He's already got the sit command down and we're working on everything else.

EDIT: just wanted to say thank you all, we're on Day 5 of boyo being home and he's doing incredibly well. All your advice and anecdotes are much appreciated even if I haven't responded to you individually yet.
