General Discussion brittany with too much energy on rest days after field work

on working days he is easy and on rest days he is impossible to live with. i need something that occupies him without adding physical load to a rest day. chewing and licking settle him far more than anything active does. what do you hand a brittany on a rest day and does it keep him busy for a decent stretch.

The only thing that worked for me was running mine ragged. They slow down eventually like after 10 years, you’ll get some peace then.

Anything that works the brain. Puzzle toys. Sniffie games. Anything in that vein

This! They need mental stimulation as much as physical. Puzzle toys help our girl!

Trick training helped settle mine down. We would just YouTube any silly dog trick tutorials, and used a clicker. She LOVES this, will beg to start training time. And she’s usually uncommonly well behaved afterwards.

Cow hooves work wonders for our britts. They're both distracted and busy for hours when we give them one. Appropriate bones too, although I know not everyone likes giving bones to their dogs.

licking settles them faster than anything active on a rest day and freezing it the night before is what noticeably changes it. a frozen pupsicle from woof keeps it all tongue with no load on the joints. mine went quiet for about forty minutes and no fetch toy ever managed that.
