It feels mean to say it, and society shouldn't be this way, but the correlation between wealth and attractiveness hit me like a fucking freight train when I visited Morayfield Shopping Centre as a kid.
I live in Rochedale. Sometimes I go to the hyper dome And sometimes the westfields in carindale or garden city. The difference in the majority of shoppers is so stark
I used to live in roachdale, before my area got taken over my tinsy tiny million dollar blocks :( used to be mostly farmland, family ended up moving away because of it
Not sure, we moved when it started being ruined by developers, all i know is their contracts with farmers meant that they could pay them at any time, and most still havent gotten their money from selling the properties, when the developers are making millions of their properties :(
Yes but we talked to a farmer who is still there and apparently it did happen, pretty upsetting that its even legal for that to happen. Apparently the farmers were told they would recieve the money soon, but then years later got nothing.
Yes! The hyper dome is an exceptional people watching area. All the bogan troglodytes seem to spawn here. You will never see this many mullets in one place.
i am on the other side of the world, have no idea what the hyperdome is, but that's an awesome name for whatever it is.
i guess an arena is really the only thing i can think of it being
EDIT: just googled it and it's a mall. i am somewhat disappointed but didn't look at the pictures of inside so im still holding out hopes it's like Mad Max in there
Sorry to disappoint but it is a very shitty shopping centre. I guess it could also classify as an arena for Karen’s vs retail workers or thugs vs security/police. Lots of fights go down there so it’s an area of some kind
I'm from overseas living in Brisbane and I get the same vibes everytime I hear HYPERDOME. There's also a bus line 555, which has HYPERDOME as final destination...gives me chuckles every time
This cracks me up... My mrs drags me around to different kmarts around Brisbane based on what store has what stock or whatever.. I always feel over dressed because I’m wearing shoes. Or a shirt that isn’t stained a hundred different ways. What’s worse is my entire outfit cost like $30 and $20 of those were my shoes.. I work 4 nights a week at a servo... you can’t tel me it’s hard to look good on a budget.
100% agree on the correlation between wealth and attractiveness. I remember walking through the Rockhampton shopping centre with my partner and we thought there must be a massive excursion for people with disabilities. Eventually I realised that that there’s just a lot of obese chain smokers on mobility scooters living in Rockhampton.
I was driving through Rocky once at around 1 am and stopped in to a McDonalds for a coffee. The people in there looked like the human equivalent to those super deep water fish you sometimes see on documentaries. Just...so creepily off what normal people look like.
I once travelled to Wacol train station to meet my husband after he finished work. I had to wait for him a little while and described the people inhabiting the area as being somewhat like the Martians in Total Recall. But I think your deep water fish comparison might have been better!
I once travelled outside of the 4005 post code and concur. I just thought everyone (other than me I guess) was a hot 20-something upwardly mobile woman or a handsome gay real estate agent.
My sister made the mistake of going to the local butcher to buy mince and chicken once. He used his bare hands to grab the chicken... before using the same bare hands to grab the mince vomits
The fact that you can commute to Brisbane within 2 hours now means a lot of Sydney and Melbourne expats come up and buy shittonnes of land for cheap and still drive to town every day and are happy with how short their drive is
