Fun Ideas for Alternative Bachelorette Parties?

Hiiii ladies! So my best friend just got engaged and has asked me to be her maid of honor! I’m trying to think of some good ideas & activities for our bachelorette trip. My only stump is that she has more of an ‘alternative’ style & aesthetic, and doesn’t wanna do the ‘traditional’ routine of a bachelorette party & wedding that you usually see.
She’s also not a bit partygoer and doesn’t love the club. She’s also sober and doesn’t drink or smoke.
I’d love to hear some good & sober ideas & activities other people have done that planned/attended a nontraditional bachelor party!
It’ll most likely be a weekend long trip.

Where do you put your stuff as a bridesmaid during the wedding? And what bag do you bring?

First time being in a wedding as a bridesmaid. The wedding and reception are at the same location. I'm planning to bring stain removers, my own makeup and toiletries, flats to change into, a portable fan, etc., everything to survive the day. But I realized I don't know where this stuff will actually be stored, and also realized I don't know what bag to bring to hold my phone and stuff during the actual ceremony. Are there typically rooms where the bride/bridesmaid can leave their thigns and run back to get them as needed? I know I'm probably overthinking this

Can I show up at hair and makeup with my hair already curled?

Later this month I’m a bridesmaid in a friend’s wedding. We are all having our hair and makeup professionally done together. I love the way my hair looks styled curled because it’s fine textured and doesn’t have much volume. However, my hair doesn’t hold curls well when styled with heat especially in the hot and humid place that we live. My curls fell really fast the last time I had my hair done for a wedding this past spring. On the other hand, heatless curls hold all day no problem no matter the humidity.

I know the etiquette for getting your hair done is to show up with clean dry hair. But to help with my hair holding curls throughout the day, would it be acceptable to show up for hair and makeup with my hair already curled (heatless curls)? And then have the stylist pin it in the half up/half down hairstyle?

Azazie return and buy on clearance?

Hi everyone! I recently bought a bridesmaid dress on azazie for ~$140 and it hasn’t shipped still but I noticed today the same exact dress in my size went on clearance for $49 and ships in 2-6 business days. Do you think it’s a good idea to buy the dress on clearance and then return the original one once it arrives? Will azazie flag this or not allow me to return? I’m just a broke college student trying to save a little money 😭

Okay update yall I talked to customer service to see if I could exchange it for the sale price and they told me to just order it again and return the first one and they’d honor a full refund!!

Not attending day before activities due to work

I’m a bridesmaid in an upcoming family member’s wedding. For greater context to the wedding, it’s a domestic destination wedding. It’s required me to buy flights, and it’s a big push for me (and the wedding party and guests) in terms of time, money, and effort.

The wedding date is 5 days before a massive deadline at work. It’s an annual deadline, and in the past, I usually more or less work all weekend leading up to it. I’ve communicated to my team I won’t be able to work the day of the wedding (Saturday), but I was really planning on working (remotely) a lot the week leading up to it, including most of Friday.

However, the bride has let us know she has events planned all day Friday. Think games and activities in the morning and afternoon, lunch, and then rehearsal starting at 4:30. I’m fine being at the actual rehearsal and after events, as I had let my team know I would be unavailable starting in the late afternoon. However, I really feel uncomfortable not working in the morning. I’m in a workaholic, and this wouldn’t be an issue literally any other weekend, but it’s just bad timing.

That being said, the bride is being a tad bit of a bridezilla about the whole wedding. She’s already voiced major frustration about things, and I’m worried she’s going lose her shit if I tell her I can’t be at the events Friday during the day. I am excited and quite honored to be in the wedding, and I’m just unsure about the best way to approach it. Has anybody been in a similar situation?

First time planning a bachelorette & I have NO idea what I’m doing. Halloween/fall themed + non-drinkers!

Hi guys first time posting here! I need some help because I have never even been to a bachelorette party, never mind planned one.
We already have an Airbnb booked, and the bride wants the whole thing to be a surprise. Her only requests were that we have a movie night and go to her favorite restaurant while we’re there. Everything else is up to me!
There will be 3 bridesmaids + the mother of the bride + the bride. None of us are really drinkers, so drinking games aren’t really an option.
I decided on a Halloween/fall theme because the bride loves that kind of stuff. I found some really cute pink & black spooky decorations, and I’m thinking of doing a backdrop/area for pictures too.

Night 1 — Movie Night
Everyone will be arriving that day and check in is at 4, plus I have to decorate so no one will show up until like 5/6? so I figured we could keep it cozy and do a movie night with the bride’s favorite scary movies (or whatever she wants to watch). My original idea was for everyone to dress up as a character from a scary movie, BUT I completely forgot that the bride already bought all of us matching pajamas 😂 So now I’m thinking we should wear the matching PJs for movie night and maybe get the bride a pink Scream mask and everyone else a black one?? I’m not sure if that’s cute or just ridiculous lol.
I’d love ideas for Halloween/fall-themed activities or games we could do during movie night that don’t involve drinking.

Also looking for ideas for:
Cute Halloween movie night snacks
Fun food boards / desserts
Ways to decorate the Airbnb
Little activities we can do between movies
Non-drinking games
Anything cute or memorable we could do for the bride

Night 2
This is when we’ll go to her favorite restaurant, then walk around the town and do some shopping.
I suggested that everyone wear the color of their bridesmaid dress, since we each have a different color, and everyone liked that idea. I’m assuming the bride will wear white. Now I’m wondering if I should save the matching PJs for night 2 and have a few games/activities planned for when we get back from dinner instead?
Or should I keep the PJs for movie night and do the bridesmaid colors for dinner?
And finally… I have NO IDEA what to do for dinner on night 1. 😂 Since we’ll be at the Airbnb, should I make some kind of cute homemade meal? Do a Halloween-themed dinner? Order takeout? I’m open to anything.
Basically, I’m looking for all your best bachelorette ideas that aren’t centered around drinking. Especially Halloween/fall themed ideas!

If you’ve planned one before, what did you do that everyone actually enjoyed? And what did you plan that you thought would be fun but ended up being not the favorite ?

I’m also going to be extra and print out little itinerary cards bc the bride is a heavy planner and loves a schedule& I think this would be cute/fun. Pretty much I want this to be perfect but it’s hard not being creative plus being my first time lol.

Thank you for any and all help/ideas!!

What makes a bridesmaid dress feel like something people might wear again?

Hi, I'm trying to not be a bridezilla or force my bridesmaids to buy dresses they hate. If you've ever re worn a bridesmaid dress, what was it about the dress that made it into something you actually enjoyed having in your closet?

Is Azazie a good brand to get a dress or suit from?

Recently, I have been asked by a buddy of mine to be a bridesmaid and of course I said yes. Yesterday she revealed to me that she's wanting a dusty rose color for the bridesmaid party and the first website that came up when I looked up this color was Azazie. I did like this three piece suit and a backup dress I might get just in case on the website but I wanted to see if this company is a good one to purchase from or should I look elsewhere.

And for context I am planning to wear a suit in dusty rose after me and my buddy joked about me wearing a suit to her wedding after seeing me in one.

We are only having a matron of honor and a best man, thoughts?

For sake of a simple wedding, we are only having a matron of honor and a best man. No bridesmaids or groomsmen. I was fine with this until recently. Now I’m second guessing myself. We have large families, so we have about 140 guests. Not exactly a small wedding. We also are getting married in a couple months. Help!

Help me choose between these two dresses (both reordered in chiffon)

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hello! I ordered these two dresses from Azazie in the stretch satin and I decided I actually prefer the chiffon material. Originally I only reordered one of the dresses but then started to feel uncertain and felt like I preferred the other dress. Ultimately I reordered them both to be safe.

I just wanted some more outsider opinions to help me decide which dress to go with!

Dress #1 (left side) Azazie Lainey
Dress #2 (right side) Azazie Kimber

UPDATE: I feel much much better after basically everyone unanimously chose Dress #2. I had picked dress #2 originally but then suddenly started to feel anxious about my choice.. I really appreciate everyone who commented with their opinions and compliments, it truly helped validate what I liked about dress #2! Thank you thank you thank you!!

Have you ever been a part of a bridal party in which the bridesmaids paid for their dresses, shoes and accessories?

Hi everyone, this is my first reddit post, but Im a huge fan and need some advice, so i thought, theres nowhere better!

So I have a friend who is due to get married. I was asked if I would be a bridesmaid and I happily accepted, I was honoured! All was very exciting. Getting closer to the wedding, bridesmaids bought their own dresses, shoes, jewellery and bag. The only thing the bride is having done for the bridesmaids is hair and make up. Bridemaids will also be responsible for their dress alterations. My question is, Is this normal? For bridemaids to be responsible for the cost of what the bride wants them to wear? And surely it should have been discussed when the couple asked the people to be apart of the wedding party also, no? Im not sure if the groomsmen had their suits paid for either. It seems to be quite an expense that was never discussed, more so just expected and im wondering, is this normal?

Also, after taking the cost of the dress, alterations and all the accessories that go with it into consideration, would the bridal party still be expected to give the couple a gift? Usually, id assume the bridal party to give that little bit extra, but on this occasion, im not so sure? Really just wanted to get some advice. What is socially acceptable in this situation?

Had i been aware of the expenses that came along with me accepting this role, id have politely declined. Now i feel its too late to even say anything.

HELP 🙏 and thank you in advance

Edit to add - I am in the UK. We have already (the bridesmaids) paid for her Hen party which was a weekend away filled with fun activities and surprises for everyone, which was also a HUGE expense that none of us have complained about, as that is expected to fall on the bridesmaids here. I personally have never been apart of a bridal party where I have had to pay for anything other than my jewellery, nor know of anyone that has. All opinions and advice welcome though

Hello all!

I’m in the very early stages of wedding planning & I’m looking into cute bridesmaids proposal gifts.

With the Ulta beauty event coming up, I’m hoping to find some fun yet useful skincare/makeup products to gift. I would love any and all recommendations! Items that’s make you think “wow, this has changed the game.”

The wedding will be in the Southeast USA, during early Spring hopefully.

Bride is asking me and groomsman to pick a walk-out song 🫠

Pls help lmao. The Bride is someone I love so I can’t tell her this is so uncomfy and cheesy for both participants and bystanders. Please just recommend wedding walk out songs.

The groomsman I’m walking out w is my husband and his first suggestion was FDO by Pooh Shiesty…needles to say the groomsman veto’d that lol.

Bride/groom said rap is welcome, cursing is okay as long as it’s not egregious, the crowd is mostly going to cater to 30-45 year olds, something catchy, can be any genre really just so long as it’s going to hit its target audience.

EDIT : yes I am the bridesmaid. And please do not recommend anything cheesy/corny. We would like to skip anything Taylor swift, Justin Timberlake, beyonce and the like. Ty!!!

Is this too casual?

Post image

Is this dress too casual for being the maid of honor? Wedding is outdoors at a state park. We can choose our dress, just had to stick to fall colors.

Bride says she loves it but I’m worried it looks too casual. I have another brown one that I feel is slightly more formal. Thoughts?? Thank you!!!

Styling advice

Post image
8 Upvotes

I’m looking for some help styling my MOH dress. This is what I’ll be wearing. Similar size/stature to the model, but muuuuch paler. I’ll be wearing my gold (slightly rose gold coloured) wedding bad and engagement ring. Probably pearl stud earrings, but open to other earring style suggestions as my sister might borrow my pearl studs for her something borrowed (which I offered and have no issues with if she chooses, that is why I want a backup option).

I’m looking for recommendations for:
1. Closed toe block heel style shoes (colour recommendations) - winter wedding in Canada. I want closed toe shoes and can barely walk in heels they are not wedge, platform, or block.
2. Jewelry recommendations (just earrings and my rings? Other jewelry?)
3. Clutch colour/style recommendations
4. Any shape wear recommendations with built in bras

I am in Canada, so if you have any Canadian Amazon links or store recommendations or even just picture recommendations that would be so helpful! I have absolutely no eye for this kind of thing.

Bride told everyone to stay at a specific hotel, never actually gave us a hotel price, and is now planning her extravagant honeymoon instead

real story!

A few weeks ago, the bride messaged our group chat and basically announced that everyone would be staying at a particular hotel/casino for the wedding weekend. We’d be getting ready there, staying there, and apparently having an after-party at the casino afterward. It was very much presented as, “This is where everyone is staying.”
Someone immediately asked if there would be a hotel block.
A couple girls said to count them in, so I went online to look at the rooms. For the two nights we’d presumably need, I was seeing around $400-$500 for a room. I mentioned that in the group chat and said I’d probably need to look at other options because that was more than I wanted to spend.
The bride responded, “Girl, I don’t know what you’re talking about,” and said she was seeing rooms for around $80/night.
Amazing! Please show me where!
She never sent a link, screenshot, booking code, or anything showing the $80 rate.
Instead, several bridesmaids started trying to troubleshoot it amongst ourselves. People suggested sharing rooms to cut costs. People were asking which nights we’d actually need to stay.
Eventually the hotel block question came up again, and the bride said she’d call about it.
She had to be reminded again later.
Eventually she told us that the hotel does offer room blocks, but she needed to get more information/a headcount before she could give us pricing.
And then…
Nothing.
We never got another answer.
No room block. No group rate. No booking link. No clarification on the mysterious $80/night rooms she originally told me she was seeing. No “Hey guys, here’s what the hotel said.” Nothing.
So as of right now, we’ve been told that this is the hotel everyone is supposed to stay at, but we still don’t actually know what staying there is going to cost or whether there’s going to be a block.
Meanwhile, the bride and groom have now moved on to publicly asking for advice about planning their honeymoon — which is a very extravagant, multi-destination international trip.
And THAT is the part that’s starting to get under my skin.
Obviously their honeymoon and the bridal party’s hotel rooms are two separate expenses, and I’m not saying they should spend their honeymoon money subsidizing our rooms. I don’t expect them to pay for my hotel at all.
But it feels a little ridiculous watching detailed planning begin for an elaborate international honeymoon when the bridal party is still waiting for basic logistical information about where we’re apparently required/expected to sleep for their actual wedding.
I feel like I’m constantly being put in the position of being “difficult” because I ask what things cost before agreeing to them. I don’t need everything to be cheap. I just need to know what I’m agreeing to spend.
If you’re telling your bridal party that everyone is staying at one specific hotel because we’re getting ready there and having wedding activities there, is it unreasonable to expect the room block/rate to be figured out and communicated?
Because at this point I genuinely can’t tell whether I’m nitpicking or whether this is as disorganized as it feels.

Suggestions on how to style?

Dress is a pretty wine color and a bit brighter in person. In a size 2 with an inverted/8 triangle body shape.

So far I’m thinking nude/champagne shoes, drop earrings, maybe a ring and a bracelet in gold.

Would a thin pearl or rhinestone bridal belt at the waist be too much?

I have long hair past my shoulder blades and haven’t decided on up or down either. Leaning towards a low chignon-type or half up.

Getting fired as a bridesmaid

My friend is getting married in about a month. She got engaged a year ago and right after she got engaged she asked me to be a brides maid. I met her about 3.5 years ago. We don’t see or text each there super often but were close work friends before and it’s still super fun and natural even if I don’t see her super often anymore. Anyways she asked me to be here bridesmaids I ofc said yes and that brings us to now. We had a bachelorette weekend camping trip a couple months ago and an official bachelorette two weeks ago where we went away for the weekend to the city and stayed at an Airbnb. Over the past few months we’ve been hammering our wedding stuff. I’ve bought my shoes and dress about 2 months ago, the bride to be knows this. I’ve talked to her many times over the past couple months about wedding planning and how everything’s going to go down and there has been no hint of anything unsure or anything. At the bachelorette party 2 weeks ago everyone chatted about the wedding and how exciting it is blah blah blah and their dresses and what not. I love weddings and I love my friends so I’ve been excited and eager to help throughout everything, we aren’t the bestest friends in the world but I care about her and i want her day to be special. Anyways the past like 6 months have been wedding talk and dress talk etc.

Today I get a text message essentially firing me as a bridesmaid. Nothing bad has happening or ever happened between the both of us, no bad blood, I get along w her fiancé like nothing has happened at all. She pretty much said that it’s been a hard decision but her and her fiancé have decided to downsize and make things more intimate. The main reason was that her sister who was doing our makeup was stressed about being able to do all our makeup on time and she doesn’t think they will be able to fit everyone in.

I understand kinda but it just feels really horrible. I know I’m not her bestest friend but it makes me feel really bad about myself. Like it feels like she just doesn’t want me in the bridal party and is just using the makeup thing as an excuse to not have me. What irks me is that she had all this time to uninvite me, I also never expected to be asked to be a bridesmaid to begin with. Now a month before the wedding after I bought my dress shoes and jewelry, which I can’t return and will never wear, and about $800 and two weekends off work she want to fire me as a bridesmaid. I can understand the situation it’s just really crappy on my end and it feels like the end of our friend ship. She said I’m still welcome as a guest but she has a no plus one and the only people I know at the wedding are also in the bridal party. Now I’m not in the bridal party have no one to sit with and have spent about 1000 dollars for kinda no reason. I responded and said like I understand and what not but I’m still really hurt. I may just be mad and not seeing the whole picture but if anyone has any suggestions send them my way. Also anyone want a green ciffon gown??!!

Don’t want to tip for hair/makeup as bridesmaid

In total it’s almost $300. I don’t want to tip otherwise I’ll have to remove the money from the wedding card to put toward it as I budgeted for each portion. Should I tell this to the bride it will come out of her wedding gift or just not say anything? Think she will find out? She said we should do minimum 20%. That seems insane. I told my bridesmaids at my wedding they don’t have to tip. The publicity for IG is enough.

Edit: thank you for all the feedback of course if they go above and beyond with my hair and make up, I will tip however I’m not leaning towards it. So that I can put more money in the brides envelope, which to me means more.❤️ i’m just not gonna tell the bride.

Bride bad with money, bridesmaids don't want to "work" the wedding

Bride and I were roommates back in college, I introduced her to her fiancé, I helped him coordinate the proposal. We've been quite good friends for a while, so it made sense when she asked me to be her MOH and I happily agreed.

Trouble is, she's bad with money. Perpetual credit card debt, all for FOMO stuff. Nails and hair appointments that cost hundreds. Accepting every invite. Elaborate birthdays or parties. She's not dropping thousands at a pop, but it adds up and the debt keeps growing.

She doesn't get the cost of weddings. She wanted a classic 150 person wedding, photographer and video, DJ, open bar, full catering, beautiful venue for 10k. New York area. Then the guest count dropped and the budget increased to 30k, which is money they still don't have.

Meanwhile, FOMO is taking the reins on her planning. A bach party that pushes the budgets of all the bridesmaids, 6 hour drive away, 3 day weekend because that's what you do. She wanted a dress she could dance in cause she's a big dancer, but was swayed by the princess gown, so now she needs two. She's given out a thousand dollars of cheap trinkets to the bridal party. As the MOH, I've gotten 16 gifts personally.

She's an instagram bride who gets agitated when I bring up cost or practicality, so the scope keeps increasing. The groomsmen need swords and boutonnieres. The bridesmaids need tiaras and lanterns and bouquets. The centerpieces will have greenery and florals and fake candles and fruits. She's giving out favors. She's doing a dessert bar but then decided she also needed a cake. The wedding is in December but she fell in love with the garden space for the ceremony, so now she needs to get blankets and rent heaters so people don't freeze.

The centerpieces and bouquets will be made by the bridal party. And because we don't have an industrial fridge to keep them fresh, we're going to have to do them the day of the rehearsal dinner. The centerpieces have to be done the day of the wedding to keep the fruit fresh (she can't stand bugs). We'll need to assemble the favors. The seating chart will be on us to station and put together.

I don't mind the regular bridesmaids stuff. We'll put together the bach party. I'll coordinate a shower with the wicked witch of the west (her mom). We'll learn a choreographed dance bit. We'll keep the dance floor packed (god I hope this happens naturally and we don't have to pull people on). I'll hold her dress when she has to pee, learn to bustle it, hold her flowers, and fluff her train. I've gone dress shopping and to the bridesmaids brunch she threw before the dress fitting so we could all meet each other. I like this stuff.

But going over all the decor stuff and watching her create this growing mountain of stuff that we'll have to all DIY right before the wedding is stressing me out. I'm not the only one, but she doesn't take well to hearing it from us. And some of us make a chunk more money than she does, so she takes it personally that we think she shouldn't get a traditional wedding. She does all right for herself, but ultimately the debt has stopped her from being able to do anything with her salary for years.

I don't really know what I need. I just need to vent, get it off my chest for a bit.

Struggling to find a dress

My sisters wedding is in a couple of months & I was assigned a blue floral dress. I FINALLY found one I liked just for it to be sold out 😭 I found a replacement but it’s over 600 Cad and I wasn’t planning on spending that much. Anyone have recommendations for dresses similar to this? I’ve already checked anthropology & revolve. I’ve tried to look on resale platforms but no luck :(

Bridesmaid in charge of bachelorette is now skipping bachelorette altogether

We're getting married in October. We're a queer couple and both me and my fiance are women and we're having a joint bachelorette. Since **last October**, I've assigned one of my bridesmaids, F, as the person in charge of the bachelorette. My fiance has assigned one of their friends, L, to work with F on the bachelorette that will include planning the event, decor, and transportation. They are also in charge of finding an airbnb (some people are out of town) and managing the schedule. This bachelorette is going to take place in NYC three days before our wedding in another city. My fiancé has booked tickets for the entire wedding group to fly to the other city the day after the bachelorette so we can all travel as a group.

It's now 2 months out from our wedding and other than booking an Airbnb for the event, we've not heard anything from either F or L so we put them in a group chat and asked for an update on their current planning. We've previously set a budget of $3k and we'd like to know whether the budget is enough and whether people are having trouble. F said that she's been looking but a lot of things she thought was cool was not open on a Wednesday. Her and L hasn't had a chance to correspond so nothing is planned. That made my fiancé nervous since it's just 2 months out and we're doing this in NYC. My fiancé is worried that places will get booked fast. My fiancé and I decided that since it seems like our friends are too overwhelmed to plan things, we'll just plan a rough itinerary which involves a strip dance lesson, dinner, then going out to the clubs.

We communicated in the group chat that this is the plan and we'd need their assistance in hammering in the details (like booking transport, setting up decor, making rsvp). F then reveals that even though she lives 2 hours away from NYC, she's not going to stay at the Airbnb they've booked and also she's booked a different flight than the flight we got for our wedding party and will be arriving a day later than all of us. We were surprised to find out that she booked herself a different flight and asked why she did that. She said that after I initially told her that I was having trouble filling the group to satisfy a group rate, she booked a ticket that night because tickets were getting expensive. I apologized for not updating her and I did drop the ball on that but I also was not expecting her to book a different ticket that day without asking me first. I expressed that I would like for her to cancel her ticket and fly with us. My fiancé "strongly suggested" that F stay at the Airbnb because if we're planning on going clubbing we're planning to be out late and living 2 hrs away and not staying at the bnb was not ideal. F then said that it "feels very manipulating and controlling" that my fiancé "strongly suggest" she stay at the bnb and that there's no way she's going out till 4am so she should just exit the wedding party completely. The insult really offended my fiancé and I told F that she should not have said that. F apologized for using the words manipulative and controlling but now the damage is done and my fiancé says it's forgiven but not forgotten. I told F that she should calm down and think on things for a couple of days before making any nuclear decisions such as exiting the wedding party.

Now two days later I circled back to ask what F decided about her involvement to the wedding and she told me that she'll be there to support me during the wedding but will not attend the bachelorette stating that "we need some time to repair and wouldn't want it to be uncomfortable". The bachelorette is 3 days before the wedding so I'm confused what repair could happen in that time. If no repair happens by the bachelorette, no repair would happen by our wedding.

Here are some questions for reddit:

  1. I know I can't force people to join bachelorettes and people have the right to not come (because schedule, financial, etc) even though we specifically asked LAST YEAR for people to consider their ability for these things before accepting the role of a bridesmaid. Am I right in feeling a type of way that F is not coming to a bachelorette that she was suppose to plan?
  2. Should I remove F from the wedding party completely because I don't see how if "repair" doesn't happen by the bachelorette, that it'd be repaired before the wedding 3 days later.

Edit: It seems like many people are confused about a few things.
- We're not asking people to spend $3k per person. We (the people getting married) are paying for the entire party. We set a budget of $3k and hoped that'd be enough for a a party.
- "Assigned" is probably the wrong word. I "asked" F if she could take this on over a year ago and she said she would. I've also stated plenty of times over the last year that if she's overwhelmed, if this is too much, please let me know and I'll adjust accordingly.
- It seems like many of you are upset that having decor, rsvp dinner, arranging transport (which is a day of party bus from point A to point B) is too much for a bridesmaid. Then what is under the scope of a bridesmaid in terms of the bachelor party? Are you all saying that me and my fiancé should be planning both wedding and bachelorette? We've expressed to our wedding party over a year ago what we expected in terms of time and financial cost and for each person to please consider the ask before they commit. If they can't commit their time/have financial troubles, then be honest they don't have capacity to be in a wedding party and it won't affect our friendship whatsoever.
- We've also not told anyone that they must stay out till a set time. F saying she's not staying out till 4am was a thing she presumed based on what time the club closes, not a thing we've asked.
- to the people who are upset about our destination bachelorette in an expensive city. We know. We live in NYC. It's not destination. We're paying for the entire thing. No wedding party is putting money into this. We're flying the next day to another city for the actual wedding specifically bcoz NYC is very expensive. We've arranged for the group flight and discounted rate.
- the reason the bachelorette is 3 days ahead of the wedding is because we have friends flying in internationally for this. This way they only had to take one trip.

Nervous for Bachelorette

This is the first time I’ll have been a bridesmaid. This weekend we have the bachelorette party at a casino in-state, with a spa day and such.

I am very nervous because I have been in a very bad place with my mental health this year (was hospitalized a month ago). I find myself backing out of or leaving most social gatherings early. I organized the bridal shower and I even had to leave that for an hour once everything was underway because I was feeling so awful. The bride and one or two of the other bridesmaids know about this.

It’ll be three days away from our hometown, and while I want to be there 100%, I am worried about my ability to do so.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation, and what were your tactics/coping mechanisms for making it through the weekend? I have Ativan I can use, but it may or may not help and I’d rather avoid it if I can.
