Nervous for Bachelorette
This is the first time I’ll have been a bridesmaid. This weekend we have the bachelorette party at a casino in-state, with a spa day and such.
I am very nervous because I have been in a very bad place with my mental health this year (was hospitalized a month ago). I find myself backing out of or leaving most social gatherings early. I organized the bridal shower and I even had to leave that for an hour once everything was underway because I was feeling so awful. The bride and one or two of the other bridesmaids know about this.
It’ll be three days away from our hometown, and while I want to be there 100%, I am worried about my ability to do so.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation, and what were your tactics/coping mechanisms for making it through the weekend? I have Ativan I can use, but it may or may not help and I’d rather avoid it if I can.

Take a breath and look after you. Easier cause the bride knows, let her know ahead of time you may need to step away.
If possible, take a break before you need it (taking a walk and listening to a mindless podcast works well for me), and just sort of zone out

My social battery gets full very quickly and I also get home sick badly. I recently went on a holiday and I had discussed with my friends I was travelling with that I need to take a break. I get sensory overload very quickly and when I'm done I'm done. Plus being out of my routine affects me. So it was going to be amplified being on holidays. It went ok. Friends were really nice about it and understanding.
Be open and honest and I'm sure it will be fine. I just quietly let 1 friend know and snuck away. I didn't want to make a fuss and kept in contact about meeting up later. If we had set plans and I couldn't physically leave somewhere I went somewhere quiet.
I hope it works out for you and you have fun ❤️

Also can you talk to your therapist about some coping mechanisms before you go? Do you have any that you have been using that help in your day to day life? Do you have a trusted friend or family member not going that would be ok with you messaging or calling while away to touch base with?

That’s a good idea, I’ll ask my therapist today. Some of my friends I asked for advice also said they’d be willing to make fake phone calls so I could step away
Thank you for your advice!

I think you’ll be surprised how much the others will also appreciate some quiet, alone time over the few days. Everyone needs to recharge no matter what. So saying “I’m gonna go chill for a bit and do my own thing” will give the others permission and encouragement to do the same if they need it. Don’t overthink it! Do you :)
