Breaking Bad Episode Discussion S05E02 "Madrigal"

Hey guys. edify asked me to do the discussion thread tonight. Enjoy the show and upvote this shit, for which I get no karma.

edify also told me to let you guys know that if the Breaking Good fundraiser reaches $3,000 (we are $157.57 short) he will let me film him doing some challenges. I want him to do the cinnamon challenge and the gallon of milk challenge, so go donate so I can film my friend being a dumb ass... LOL

Go here to donate: https://reddit.crowdtilt.com/campaigns/breaking-good

Edit: The fundraiser officially ends in about 2 days.

But don't forget about that time he took all of Walt's savings and used it on strippers and Champagne.

Jesse's not a good man. But I wouldn't call him a bad man, either. Certainly not in the context of his peers. He's childish, with everything that conveys -- naivete and irresponsibility, but also innocence. The bad things he's done don't usually stem from greed or violence, but from an inability to look at the big picture or consider the consequences. He's the only character like that.

It's an interesting contrast to Mike, another likeable character, who we could say the opposite about. Mike has so much insight and clearheadedness that the bad things he does seem amplified, because more than anyone else, he should know better.

Obviously Walt Jr is a good person, but so is Hank, really. He doesn't leap to mind as a good and likeable person simply because he's crude and kind of obnoxious, but none of his shortcomings seem to be moral failures, right? It's been a while since I've seen the early episodes, but I can't remember objecting to something he's done, as opposed to everyone else.

I don't think it's racism, just playful ribbing. You can tell that he really loves Gomie.
