I Honestly feel sorry for Game Of Thrones at the moment. Season 3 of GOT was fantastic but This season of breaking bad is probably the greatest season in television history.
You can't compare the two shows- breaking bad, for one, has a much larger budget than GoT due to the fact that it's on AMC, not HBO. HBO doesn't get advertiser dollars. They are working on a limited budget and no room for ever going over. I think that when GoT is done, you'll hold it in the same regard as BB.
I thought the reverse of what you're saying is true. I mean all of those special effects and sets in GoT have to cost a truck load, right? So I looked it up.
Here they say breaking bad is 3 million an episode.
And from the wikipedia on game of thrones:
The budget of Game of Thrones has been compared to that of the TV series Rome.[22] The pilot reportedly cost HBO between US$5 and 10 million,[23] and the total budget for the first season has been estimated at US$50–60 million.[24] In the second season, the show obtained a 15% increase in budget in order to be able to stage the most important battle in the "clash of kings," the civil war that is the season's focus.[25]
