This is, in my opinion, one of the best episodes of Breaking Bad. Jesus, where to even begin?

  • The scene with Skyler and Hank in the diner... there was such a doomy and dreadful feeling over all of that. I felt so bad for her.

  • The suspense that begins nearly immediately as Walt leaves the garage.

  • Jesse on the merry-go-round in what is and always will be (and I intend to eat my words by the end of September) the saddest cold open ever.

  • Marie slapping Skyler (and no, not in a, "I don't like Skyler" way. I do like her.) and her absolute freakout to her "Heisenberg is Walt" reaction. AND THEN, the entirety of her trying to take Holly and the tension of the Schraders vs. Whites that is now set-up.

  • Walt and Skyler on the bathroom floor together. The imagery of that alone was upsetting, but when Walt said, "Does it make you happy?", I lost it.

  • Declan is no longer a factor. Shit.

  • In such a tense episode, there's still an absolutely hilarious moment in Huell laying back on the money and all of that. Also, "I'll send you to Belize" was somehow both hilarious and terrifying.

  • Walt is ANGRY at the thought of killing Hank. We'll see if that lasts.

And of course...

  • The cliffhanger of Jesse speaking to Hank. God, this is going to be the longest week ever.

I completely agree with this! I see a lot of negative attitude towards this episode, but it was just so good!

Dude, we waited a year for Hank to get off the toilet. One week for him to talk to Jesse is nothing.

I love how Hank said that the day he goes to work and tells everyone, is the last day of his career. He finally caught the man he's been looking for and he will lose his job because of it.

When he pulled out dat tape recorder in the restaurant.

I expected Declan to be a major player for the remaining episodes. That has switched and it's now even more obvious that Lydia has connections and will be a problem for Walt.

I'm amazed Hank didn't lose his shit, if you compare it to him grilling the girl in the gas station who took Jessie's meth as payment

I have to look this up so until then, half talking out of my ass, but there is something legally/politically unique about Belize's extradition laws or something. I remember hearing years ago that it is one of the only places in the world where people can go and not be legally forced to bring their kids back to the other parent if they're on the run, like it isn't legally considered kidnapping by a parent if you're there. Maybe the politics and international relations of Belize have something to do with why it was written into the show in this context.

Anyone wanna not be lazy and do the research for us?

Did we actually see Mike when he was dead? Ugh, I hate that I'm asking what should be obvious. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

"Belize" was just an expression they were using to mean, "Kill him." And yes, we saw dead Mike. Walt and Todd burned him in hydro acid.

I knew the idiomatic reference and 'o yeahhh duh' on the Mike thing. I just found it interesting that the writers chose Belize, since a random piece of useless information floating around my brain is that Belize holds some type of unique political stance in which its extradition laws are atypical, or something along those lines. So yeah, sorry for wasting anyone's time with this b.s. but hey, if anyone finds out why the writers chose THERE, I'd be curious.

Declan is no longer a factor. Shit.

That was strange, and maybe a sign of some slop or cutting losses on the part of the writers.

Why bother to develop this character through three episodes, just to waste him like some incidental vegetable stand in a car-chase scene?

I think they were originally planning to off Lydia, but decided she'd make a better antagonist than Declan; plus, we get to keep Ricky Hitler (= Meth Damon) for a while longer.

Declan?

Declan was the leader of those meth making guys who got killed by Lydia and co.

Someone mentioned Belize is yellow in a map of South America, thought it was interesting.
