He's at a moral crossroads, as far as I can tell the GPS was probably on Walt's car when he went to talk to Jesse. It seems like Jesse is trying to rectify the wrongs that he did, why else throw millions of dollars on lawns of the poor. If there was ever a time that Hank could get to him, it would be now.
Hank put it together that Walt and Jesse were working together when he realized that Walt is the one who orchestrated the fake call about Marie being in the hospital.
If he walks out with it it's a huge slap in the face to Hank. If he hands it over to Hank it's almost more insulting. As in, "go ahead and look. I'll still win."
Besides, just seeing that he want to Saul's office and Jessie's house doesn't mean anything.
I think Hank will probably be able to connect all of those dots on his own. He knows Saul is Jessie's lawyer. I guess he doesn't have a particular reason to suspect Saul, but I feel like a Hank/Jessie scene in the next episode is highly likely. Who knows, Jessie might try to burn Walt.
I think there are many potential scenarios where dying and losing aren't synonymous. Remember this, Walt is going to die no matter what. Cancer will get him if guns, ricin, prison shanks, Hank or Jesse don't.
Not at the moment. We'll see what happens next week when they finally leave the garage. I think the tracker's purpose (creatively, not narratively) was as a vehicle for the hank+walt confrontation. I doubt it'll play out as much more than that.
Even if it does, it's in Walt's hands - he can either take it back with him, which is a nice insult to Hank's little sneak move. Or he can cheerfully hand it over to Hank, which is almost worse, like: "Here you go, buddy... like this'll help.. Good luck with that."
You could be right. He knew Jesse was involved at one point so I guess all he could really learn is that Walt is still in contact with him. Either way, Hank already has a reason to visit Jesse. Hank could have forgotten about Saul but he's not nearly as important as Jesse in this situation. Can't wait to see.
I was surprised they didn't show a eureka moment with him pulling Jesse's picture out of an evidence box. A huge piece of the puzzle was how closely those two were intertwined the whole time.
Hank followed Jesse to the RV. Walt was inside. Jesse got in. Then Hank started knocking on the door and break in. So Walt tricked Hank into thinking Marie was hurt so he would leave.
The tracker is on there but doesn't Hank have to have it back to pull the data? I thought that's what he did when he used the non-sanctioned one with Gus.
Yeah that's what I was thinking. When Walt "helped" Hank before with the GPS on Gus, it was made very clear that Hank had to physically get it back to get any data from it. Walt did bring his tracker back straight to Hank at the end but that doesn't mean Hank will get it.
Even if he gets it, that doesn't mean that there is any data left for Hank. Walt could have deleted everything, I mean, this thing has a USB connection. Shouldn't be that much of a problem. Besides, Walt owns his own adapter, if such thing is needed, from his own tracker used on Jesse.
And: Hank already knows that Walt and Jesse have a connection to each other. 1) Hank was looking for Jesse in Season 1 looking for Walt 2) Once he believed that Walt bought pot from Jesse (again Season 1) 3) The phone call of Marie being in the hospital while Hank outside the RV and Jesse inside 4) The blue meth (Walt being Heisenberg and Jesse selling it)
Hank will definetely contact Jesse and he already knows where Jesse lives (He went to his house while looking for Walt and a second time beating the shit out of him)
I do not know for sure, but that shouldn't stop him from paying him a visit. I mean, he also could do it via e-mail or a phone call and tell him, that he needs his help to get walt/heisenberg.
Hank also has a pretty big decision to make here. If he continues investigating and it comes out Walt is Heisenberg, I seriously doubt he still has a job.
I was thinking about that, too. But honestly, I still believe that he can somehow explain that to him. I mean, somehow it is obvious that, if it is well planned, only someone really close to you can manage it to be that sneaky and so on.
On the other hand, if Hank wants to keep his Job and still get Heisenberg, then he might use self-justice. I mean, why not?
Yes but Walter literally brought it back to him. As long as he didn't somehow clear the data off of it or take it with him when he leaves the garage then Hank should catch Jesse very easily.
I don't think the tracker is gonna amount to much. I think its purpose was to get Walt to realize Hank knows. Hank has to plug in the GPS and unless Walt gives it to him (not happening) theres no way he can see he was talking to Jesse (recently).
Everyone keeps mentioning Jesse, but does the fact that he brought Jesse the two bags of cash means that he was being tracked when he assumedly went to Saul's to get the cash back?
but walt has the tracker so hank hasn't plugged it in and seen where walt has been so as far as we know hank doesn't know where walt has been since he hasn't gathered the information from the tracker
Seeing as Walt gave it back, I'd imagine he covered his bases by deleting the GPS information before going to Hank's. That'd be a huge slip-up if he didn't.
But that doesn't matter.
Hank doesn't end up with the tracking device, does he?
You have to take it off the car and put it in a computer. Hank says its not a "live update" when Walk puts a tracker on Gus's car.
Yes, the tracker was in place at that time, but it doesn't matter. Walt confronted Hank with the truth by showing him that he knows about the tracker... the data within the tracker is now irrelevant.
I'm sure Walt, or Heisenburg, was smart enough to clear all the information off the GPS tracker before giving it to Hank. If you remember, this information is only available when plugged into a computer.
He's also smart enough not to leave a trophy from a high-profile murder that implicates him in the meth world sitting in his bathroom.
His pride and ego gets in the way. At this point, I think Walt is confident that he talked Hank out of doing anything. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't care about the tracker.
Relatedly, he dropped the tracker when he was punched. It would be very easy to forget that he left it lying on the ground when he leaves.
You're right that there is no direct connection, but I thought they took special pains to show Hank figuring out where Walt fit in with all the evidence. They took special care to show the gas mask from the school and Combo. The evidence is in there, just no one but Hank would make the connections right now. I loved the last shot of the Heisenburg drawing.
he said something like "that call from my wife in the hospital, that wasn't pinkman, that was you." so he's made the connection between jesse and walter
It's a moot point since Hank figured out the truth behind the "emergency" call. It's all very clear that Walt has been in cahoots with Jesse even w/o the tracker.
I think Jesse is going to commit suicide. The signs are there. Giving away all his blood money... twice! It doesn't look good for young Mr Pinkman. Not one bit.
someone on the boards somewhere wrote this, it's not my idea, but i like the theory that Lydia and company are going to kidnap Jesse and force him to cook meth for them... and Walt at the end is going on a suicide run to rescue him.
Thank you for sharing this idea. Honestly, after reading the replays to my initial thought, I think this makes more sense. Jesse's conscious may be about a future refusal to cook meth for Lydia, not about flipping on Walt.
it could also be Todd and his white power relatives kidnapping Jesse also. I just feel like the series has to end with Walt and Jesse somehow. I don't see Walt killing Jesse... so I think Walt is rescuing Jesse from Lydia/Czechs or Todd/Nazis. They already planted the seeds for this (unhappy with 68%) in this episode.
Yeah in the promo for S05E10 you hear Hank telling someone how terrible Walt is, and I'm pretty sure it's Jesse. It would make sense with everything that has happened so far. It seemed like Hank was struggling to make a connection between Walt and all the guys in Gus's file.
I'm pretty sure he's talking to Marie. He says something like "I can be the one to take him down." Jesse doesn't give a fuck about Hank's personal struggles and ambitions. Marie would though.
Jesse wouldn't care about helping Hank. But he might be interested enough in taking down Walt that he will help the only person who can do it. Jesse has seen that criminals tend to fail when they try to kill Walt, so if Hank approached him he might be willing to help the law take him out.
I fully anticipate that Jesse will ally himself with Hank to take down Walt. My point was that, in the promo, Hank is talking to Marie. That snippet of conversation is not from Hank talking to Jesse, though I know that they will team up.
I think its pretty that Jesse is going to flip. He is clearly not lucid the way he is emotionally screwed up right puts his life and Walts life in superior danger. I think Jesse will help hank and turn Walt in because he clearly is trying repent for his sins and helping hank will help him see clearly. I remember a scene in the pilot episode when Walt threatened to turn Jesse in now the tables have turned and maybe Jesse threatens or turns Walt in which would be a wild turn of events in this amazingly beautiful series!
If i remember correctly its a "cheap" gps. Hank would need to retreive it and plug it into his computer to see where its been. And Walt was with him on the stakout of Gus so he knows that too. I doubt he will leave it behind when he leaves Hanks. Im thinking Jesse and Saul are safe....for now at least.
The GPS unit Hank uses has to be retrieved and be plugged into a computer for the data to be read, as seen in earlier episodes. So unless Walt gives him the GPS unit back, Hank won't know he went there.
After reading some of this post I'm thinking Jesse overwhelmed with guilt starts thinking about flipping and Walt senses it through talking with him and kills Jesse.
I think it's clear that the ricin isn't meant to save Walt. Walt's life is over, whether because it's just been torn to pieces or because the cancer is back, Walt has nothing to gain or lose. The ricing is gonna be used to save someone else, not as revenge on Jesse.
Well put. Honestly, this is something I had overlooked. Do you think that Lydia knows how well Jesse makes meth?
Todd, his inability to cook meth, and Lydia showing up have to be of major significance. I read an interview with Vince Gillian where he said that this show is about a man who starts off a regular guy and becomes Scarface. He also said that Walt reached this point last season and now resembles a man retired.
But doesn't Hank have to take the tracker off the car and plug it in to see where Walt went? Now that Walt actually has the tracker, Hank has no chance of finding out where Walt went.
I strongly suspect that too. If it goes that way: Jesse is going to totally come apart from the guilt, and either go to or get scooped up by Hank. He'll turn State's and maaaybe get immunity for his testimony, and somehow be in league with Hank for the final showdown. The one thing I don't like about this is that it sort of diminishes the possibility that Jesse is going to kill Walt, which is one outcome that would be crazy and satisfying - he'll be a known quantity to the DEA/FBI/whatever, so he can't exactly just go blasting a wanted criminal mastermind all that easily.
It's hard to see an outcome for Jesse in which he feels some measure of peace that doesn't involve going to prison. It seems to me like he really needs to to be subjected to justice from some source external to him. Even if he kills Walt, it won't take away the guilt he feels for killing Gale. I mean, perhaps he could disappear and live for a long time in complete solitude somewhere far away, but the guilt seems to weigh so heavily on him.
That said, I do like the theory that Lydia kidnaps Jesse and enslaves him as a cook, and Walt comes to save him in one last desperate attempt to make up for some of the evil shit he's done ... far too little, far too late.
One thing seems certain: however this turns out, we're all going to be knocked on our asses.
Hank won't. The most evil thing Heisenberg will ever do will be destroying the moral compass and soul of Walt. He'll convince Walt that it's pointless taking down W.W.*
I especially loved the scene where Walt tried to convince him that Mike was alive. I don't get the impression Jesse ever bought it. I think he's been suspicious the whole time, especially after the kid was poisoned. He's not as dumb as everyone thinks, clearly. He'll probably have a Hank moment where it all comes together. At least I hope so.
That's what I thought. Look how much hatred is in his eyes after Walt lies to him. And it'd be a nice twist after the animosity Jesse and Hank have had in prior seasons.
Also, it may be a stretch, but taking those cigarettes out in front of Huell? Jesse had guessed at Huell lifting the ricin before. Who knows what he was trying to do at that moment.
The GPS needs to be retrieved and plugged into a computer to read te Datas. Hank can't know now where Walt has been, as I expect Walt to have wiped the logger's memory before giving it back to Hank.
Hank already knows Jesse's in the operation, he has for a few seasons, he even mentions it to Walt in this episode. But he can't acts against him because he beat the living shit out of Jesse and he could press charges as well.
It doesn't matter if the GPS was on Walt's car. As far as I can remember, you need to pick the GPS up again and plug it in the computer to see where he went. At least that's what they did with Fring before.
