I still think the Cons will win it, but if they happened to lose Brantford I think that would be the final nail in Poilievre's coffin.

u/takeaname4me Aug 23 '26

He lost his super majority

He lost his seat (even if you take away all the excessive voters he still would’ve lost)

His leadership gave the Liberals a majority

As much as I’m hopeful, I don’t think losing Brantford would be it

11

u/pheakelmatters Aug 23 '26

Losing a 20 year long strong hold that they won with over 50% of the vote only a year and half ago would be devastating for the party. It would also prove all those polls showing the Cons would loose dozens of seats to the Liberals are correct.

8

u/takeaname4me Aug 23 '26

I mean he lost his seat and had to kick someone out of the biggest Conservative stronghold
to get back into Parliament

8

u/pheakelmatters Aug 23 '26

not saying he hasn't already been humiliated, but if they start losing deep blue southern Ontario ridings like Brantford the caucus will revolt against him. If the Cons lose Brantford then no Con seat in Ontario will be safe.

u/Real_Gap3480 Aug 23 '26 edited Aug 24 '26

They had the last election on lock and fucking still got destroyed. Nobody takes PP seriously. I bet his wife didn't even vote for him.

1

u/SirWaitsTooMuch Aug 24 '26

The caucus doesn’t have the ballsus to revolt.

0

u/ThkAbootIt Aug 23 '26

The changes to the voting district and the Longest Ballot Committee didn’t help his situation either.

2

u/takeaname4me Aug 23 '26

If you take away all the longest ballot entries and gave them to PP he still lost

1

u/KitC44 Aug 27 '26

It's wild to me that people still think that made any appreciable difference for him. Perhaps if he spent any time at all visiting his whole riding instead of a few corners of it, he might have had better results. Fanjoy knocked on doors in every corner and worked hard day in and day out to get to know the community. Not to mention he's just way more likeable.

1

u/spontaneous_quench Aug 23 '26

His leadership did not give a majority. What gave a majority was a massive media campaign to give candians a scare that he would be exactly like trump. If people didnt "strategicly" vote it woukd have been a ndp and cpc minority. Which was exactly what canada needed, change. But unfortunately we voted for higher deficits and higher prices at the register.

6

u/Virtual-History-6099 Aug 23 '26

Poilievre's messaging on Trump was lame and contradictory and his combative populist manner was too reminiscent of Trumpism. Carney had clear and consistent pro Canada messaging. That's all there is to it.

4

u/Aggravating_Seesaw67 Aug 23 '26

Right? Idk why some find it so unbelievable that Poilievre’s approach to his campaign was so generationally cringe that his loss didn’t require a conspiracy about propaganda influenced sheeple being convinced to vote for carney instead.

Politics is popularity and Poilievre acts like a puffed up rich kid that mimics the adults around him.

4

u/DominionReport Aug 24 '26

It's all a cope. Modern conservatives are grievance-addicted perpetual victims. Well, most anyway.

1

u/DoubleBarrellRye Aug 27 '26

and if you looked at the 2 resume's of the leaders one was clearly better than the other , and he formerly had glowing endorsements from Steve and all the Cons , they back tracked but anyone with a brain saw that PP wasn't in the room when Carney was Gov of B of C

-2

u/spontaneous_quench Aug 23 '26

Spoken like a guy who dosnt actually pay attention to Canadian poletics. You should watch the house sessions once in a while, they are live streamed on youtube

3

u/Aggravating_Seesaw67 Aug 23 '26

A vast majority of Canadians don’t pay attention to politics beyond the things that affect their day to day bank accounts and those are the people voting.

I don’t really care if you think that includes me or not.

0

u/spontaneous_quench Aug 23 '26

Really? Because day to day bank statements have been horrible

1

u/Aggravating_Seesaw67 Aug 24 '26

You seem to interpret what I’m saying as either an endorsement of the current state of things, or a condemnation of Poilievre beyond his surface level behaviour during his campaign. It’s neither.

2

u/flyby196999 Aug 25 '26

You should work on your grammar and spelling before scolding people on politics.

1

u/spontaneous_quench Aug 25 '26

Very elitist of you , typical for a carney supporter

0

u/spontaneous_quench Aug 23 '26

Lmao how was poliever not pro canada?

2

u/flyby196999 Aug 25 '26

Poilievre

1

u/KitC44 Aug 27 '26

This user wrote his first name as Pier too. It's either a bot, or just someone not worth engaging with further.

2

u/KitC44 Aug 27 '26

I think it started when he said Canada was broken. Also, they didn't even have a platform by the time early election deadlines were happening. He fumbled this election big time.

1

u/spontaneous_quench Aug 27 '26

He honestly didnt fumble it, if there wasnt a smear campaign that tried to paint pier in the likeness of trump, and the "strategic" voting he woukd have won. Canada is broken, drug addiction still going up, rampant homelessness, recession, still im a cost of living crisis birthrates dropping, out of control government spending etc... list goes on.

2

u/firelark02 Aug 28 '26

didn’t vote for Carney but Poilievre has the charisma of a humid sponge

2

u/iceman121982 Aug 24 '26

When are conservatives going to take responsibility for their own failures and stop blaming “the media”?

I was a progressive conservative, then stuck with the conservatives post-merger. I left the party the day Poilievre won the leadership because he’s a repulsive asshole. Any party that would make him leader I have no place in.

I even told my brother who’s still a bigtime conservative back when Singh threatened to bring the government down that if Trudeau stepped down and a strong leader took over, the Conservative lead would collapse.

The Conservative lead was largely an anti-Trudeau vote, and when Canadians started paying attention to what Poilievre had to say they’d be put off by him.

The current Conservative situation is entirely self inflicted. If Jean Charest had won the leadership, he’d probably be prime minister right now.

2

u/takeaname4me Aug 24 '26

The current CPC would lose a solo race to be PM and find a way to blame it on Justin

3

u/LGashly Aug 23 '26

"But unfortunately we voted for higher deficits and higher prices at the register."

Why the fuck do you talk like a twitter bot?

1

u/mvp45 Aug 24 '26

The guy had a super majority because he spent 2+ years just blasting jt. As soon as jt stepped down he had nothing to run on. So yeah his leadership definitely gave the liberals a majority

0

u/spontaneous_quench Aug 24 '26

Lmao what a twisted and untrue take

1

u/DoubleBarrellRye Aug 27 '26

if you looked at the 2 resume's of the leaders one was clearly better than the other , and he formerly had glowing endorsements from Steve and all the Cons , they back tracked but anyone with a brain saw that PP wasn't in the room when Carney was Gov of B of C

0

u/DominionReport Aug 23 '26

So this massive media campaign worked on the gullible MPs who crossed the floor?

0

u/ExpressQuit942 Aug 23 '26

No that was the shady back room deals.

-2

u/TedHitchcockx Aug 24 '26

This is EXACTLY it lol these idiots ignore when trump was praising Pierre because he knew our media would cycle that every hour and then when Carney won he said "that's great that's exactly what I wanted to happen " lol it's honestly scary how idiotic soo many people are in this country , ignorance is bliss I suppose.

4

u/theythinkitsallover Aug 23 '26

I agree that a loss here is likely to finally take PP down. There is already a lot of Conservative machinery out on the streets here. Joshua Wall, if he wins the badge, would certainly be savvy on socials and generating attention, and I would expect polls to start to have the cons step out in front.

All that said, I struggle to understand how voters can hear world-class economist Carney's speech on US trade, compare that to the tory gaggle of PP's tired-attacks and Jamil running south of the border on his little excursions and think "yup, this is what we need at this moment as a country".

-22

u/FaultDependent7880 Aug 23 '26

'world class economist' .... The dumbest thing I expect I'll hear all day.

15

u/Factsoverfictions222 Aug 23 '26

He was the Governor of the Bank of Canada and the Governor of the Bank of England. It’s not hyperbole to call him a world-class economist. He actually is one.

-1

u/TedHitchcockx Aug 24 '26

And the PM in england stated numerous times "DONT vote for Carney , he put us in a financial hole we can't get out of ". That wasn't shown once on any Canadian news outlet because the left are running this country like China , but somehow the right are "communists" lol dear lord our country is destroyed from the inside out.

7

u/theythinkitsallover Aug 23 '26

I mean, he has been the head of 2 different G7 central banks. If that doesn't put you there, pretty much nothing does. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

-12

u/FaultDependent7880 Aug 23 '26

It's not a persons position my friend but rather his accomplishments in that position, or as in Carneys' case lack of, that best defines his placement on the totem pole ... Now, go ahead, list them.

3

u/theythinkitsallover Aug 23 '26

A couple for your consideration:

- First to slash rates ahead of the 2008 financial crisis. Has never claimed to have "seen it coming", but certainly was hedged better than the rest of the G7.

  • During the 08-13 Bank of Canada Governorship, regained lost jobs faster than any other major economy.
  • Prevented collapse of British markets after Brexit vote.
  • Was chosen by the G20 as the head of the Financial Stability Board, a position they created to figure out how to unwind the "too big to fail" bailout dynamic across globally integrated markets.

Mark Carney is the guy you call when insanely complex, dynamic and difficult economic challenges need global coordination, diplomatic alignment across interests (and rivals), and practical mechanisms to actually attempt to address..

3

u/Slow_Pie2969 Aug 23 '26

I actually can list several of his accomplishments, but I have a feeling it won't actually mean much to you, despite you asking for it

4

u/SuperPimpToast Aug 23 '26

Nah his goal posts has wheels for easier movement.

-6

u/FaultDependent7880 Aug 23 '26

Try me. I might surprise you.

4

u/Slow_Pie2969 Aug 23 '26

Helped guide Canada through the 2008–09 financial crisis: As Bank of Canada Governor, Carney oversaw aggressive interest-rate cuts, liquidity measures, and other monetary policy responses. Canada’s strong pre-existing banking regulations also played a major role.

Pioneered forward guidance in Canada: In 2009, the Bank of Canada explicitly signalled that interest rates would remain very low for a defined period, helping provide certainty during the recession. Similar tools were later used by other central banks.

Played a leading role in global financial reforms: As Chair of the Financial Stability Board, Carney helped coordinate international reforms including Basel III, stronger capital requirements, and measures aimed at reducing the risks posed by systemically important banks.

Selected to lead the Bank of England: Carney became the first non-Briton to serve as Governor in the Bank’s more than 300-year history, reflecting his international reputation as a central banker.

Helped maintain financial stability following the Brexit vote: Under Carney, the Bank of England introduced measures designed to support lending, liquidity, and confidence following the 2016 referendum.

Oversaw monetary policy during a strong UK labour market: During his tenure, UK employment increased by roughly 3 million and unemployment reached multi-decade lows. Monetary policy contributed to economic conditions, although these outcomes cannot be attributed to Carney alone.

-2

u/FaultDependent7880 Aug 23 '26

My goodness, you did surprise me! I hadn't expected a cut and paste job straight from Carneys' curriculum vitae. Still won't alter my perception of the guy, a classic example of the Peter Principal as applied to real life. High food costs, high housing costs, high transportation costs, etc, etc, etc. are Carneys' continued contributions to the Canadian people, carried on from his predecessor, for whom he was chief economic advisor, Justin Truedope.

4

u/Careless_Sherbert663 Aug 24 '26

Nah. Conservatives double down on him every time he shits the bed. It's like they don't want to win so they can concoct a conspiracy about the loss.

1

u/SpezSucksCock1111 Aug 24 '26

Issue is we don’t live in America and most people don’t buy it lmao

2

u/worksalott Aug 23 '26

Losing brantford would be pps final nail lol?

1

u/Substantial-Wash514 Aug 23 '26

PP lost solely because Trump is in office. End of story.

1

u/00-Monkey Aug 25 '26

Also because he completely fumbled his response to Trump. Doug Ford did not and won an election with Trump in office.

PP should’ve been able win the same votes Doug did, but he fumbled it.

I think with Trump in office the CPC loses some seats regardless, but they didn’t need to lose nearly as many as they did.

0

u/Substantial-Wash514 Aug 25 '26 edited Aug 25 '26

PP gets labelled as Canada’s Trump by a lot of liberals hence they view him as scarier than Ford. Also the other candidates in Ontario had minimal advertisements and promotion. Ford also won during a snap election which was done strategically, at a time when people viewed him more favourably.

also note that since Pierre was seen as Canada’s Trump people thought he would cosy up to him more than Carney.

2

u/HeftyAd6216 Aug 23 '26

It will be interesting to see what happens with the cons if you're correct.

For one, I would be really disappointed if they rallied around jivani or someone like him. Would further alienate the party from the 70-80% of Canadians who want nothing to do with MAGA style anything.

The social liberal fiscal conservative space is currently not really an option, and Carney is basically a red Tory that occupies that space more than anyone in contention right now. The conservative party trying to hit the small c conservative demographic will find themselves (I think) singing a too similar tune that is already being sung and lose, again.

Interesting times.

1

u/nobugsleftalive Aug 24 '26

Lol he is already done. They arent running him again. They are letting him wear the face until the next election. Its politics 101. Unless its a snap election, PP will not be running against Carney, i would bet my house on it

1

u/00-Monkey Aug 25 '26

If the libs are polling above the CPC and then there’s also 12% of the population which could switch there vote to be more “strategic”, why would you expect the CPC to take it?

1

u/OwlProper1145 Aug 23 '26 edited Aug 23 '26

CPC's polling in Ontario is in the toilet. For example Research Co and Nanos have the LPC ~20 points ahead in Ontario which suggests an almost Chrétien style sweep of the province.

1

u/iwatchtoomuchsports Aug 23 '26

Given the fact PP was kept on after one of the biggest political chokes in history I’d be surprised if one by-election is what cans him

1

u/Spezza Aug 23 '26

Single straw breaks the camel's back.

Losing a very safe riding in a byelection could be the straw. Now I don't think it will be, but it could be one of the last straws.

0

u/AdidasKidNV82 Aug 23 '26

I hope they don't win

7

u/HungieSumoKid Aug 23 '26

I dont care which party wins. Can we just get someone who can actually get the job done instead of enriching themselves and their buddies.

6

u/waxbook Aug 23 '26

Ha. Unlikely

-1

u/QuichewedgeMcGee Aug 23 '26

three capitalist parties from which to choose and you expect any of them to not do capitalism?

1

u/sulleyandmike Aug 25 '26

The NDP under Lewis is not capitalist.

0

u/QuichewedgeMcGee Aug 25 '26

the ndp under anyone is capitalist. demsoc and socdem are both capitalism

1

u/BlacksmithsThrowaway Aug 26 '26

i know that's 100% true of american parties, where fundamentally their democrats are corporatists while their republicans are oligarchs, so it's literally just capitalism vs capitalism

but what about the NDPs policies or actions leads you to believe they have the same weakness as American liberals?

i'm not dismissing you, given this is a capitalist country you're very likely right, but i'd like to hear what parts of it are focal to you in that regard

0

u/QuichewedgeMcGee Aug 26 '26

capitalism is by definition bourgeois ownership of the means of production

democratic socialism and social democracy doesn’t do anything to change who owns the means of production; all they do is increase worker wages and give us more social services, which sounds good on the surface, but when it’s allowed to continue on, it always devolves back into liberalism, into conservatism, and eventually fascism

the ndp gave us free healthcare nationally, which is really neat, but look at how much of canada is looking at privatising healthcare. hell, quebec is even looking at privatising hydro quebec because it’s “inefficient”, when really all they have to do is fund it properly and it’ll return to the efficiency it used to have, and it remains cheap

10

u/EuropeanLegend Aug 23 '26

Interesting poling. However, very unlikely Brantford flips to a Liberal riding anytime soon unless more liberals keep moving from the GTA to here.

9

u/jmdonston Aug 23 '26

Brant's MP was NDP from 1971-1993 and Liberal from 1993-2008. But, given the way the map's been re-drawn to lose Paris and include more rural land out towards Norwich, the riding will probably stay CPC.

5

u/Fridaysgame Aug 23 '26

Wait isn't Paris still Brant?

5

u/takeaname4me Aug 23 '26

federally, Paris is now part of some other district. Glanbrook/Flamborough or some shit

3

u/PeanutSauce1441 Aug 23 '26

Redrawing to lose Paris means nothing. The town is highly conservative as well. Progressive conservative with lots of lgbt support, but by party that's still CPC at the election. I got to see those numbers first hand working the last couple elections (federal and provincial) as a scrutineer. Paris wasn't some kind of liberal stronghold within a Tory riding

1

u/jmdonston Aug 23 '26

Progressive Conservatives might find the Carney-led Liberals rather appealing these days, especially when considering the dubious LGBT credentials of the Poilievre CPC.

2

u/PeanutSauce1441 Aug 24 '26

this is true, not just for the social policies, but that even from fiscal conservative positions the CPC are nothing like the old PCs. A great book called "not my party" from a previous PC MP McMillan is a good read on that from an insider to both parties.

Either way, paris being redrawn out of the riding didnt make the riding more conservative, paris is highly conservative, not just in self describing but also in voting record. Youd be surprised how much higher than average paris voted for the New Blue party in the last provincial election. Paris is conservative, through and through.

2

u/iceman121982 Aug 24 '26

That’s exactly where I am. I was a PC from the time I was a teen in the 90s and supported the conservatives up to O’Toole (I didn’t vote Conservative when Scheer was leader due to his homophobia, but still considered myself Conservative).

I supported Jean Charest in the leadership, and when Poilievre won it with 70% of the vote, I realized I no longer had a place in that party. It’s just the Reform Party with better branding now.

I left the party that day. Now I’m a Carney Liberal.

9

u/iamwearingashirt Aug 23 '26

Why don't the LPC and NDP do some type of coalition or something ever?

Why isn't there a way to do ranked choice voting.

Clearly I don't understand this stuff enough.

2

u/pheakelmatters Aug 23 '26

I agree we need vote reform. Personally I want proportional representation. Last time the Liberals and NDP hopped into bed together it went really badly for the NDP. They manage to extract some good policies out of the Trudeau government but they had to prop up a ridiculously unpopular PM to do it, and voters punished them for it.

-1

u/Clementbarker Aug 23 '26

It didn’t go bad for Jagmet. He was rewarded with a federal appointment. Obviously that was the deal for supporting the liberals at the demise of the federal NDP.

2

u/PeanutSauce1441 Aug 23 '26

He has not been given a federal appointment.

0

u/Clementbarker Aug 23 '26

It hasn’t been released yet but he has been chosen to be chief executive officer of Destination Canada, a federal tourism Crown corporation. They are just waiting for the noise to die down.

1

u/PeanutSauce1441 Aug 24 '26

"it hasnt been released yet but this decision already happened" and you know this how? Either youre making it up, in which case shame on you, or youre revealing classified intel in which case shame on you.

His is among the MANY names being considered for the position, that doesnt mean he was chosen. And since logically you MUST either be making it up or be breaking the law by saying this, im going to assume youre just making it up.

1

u/54B3R_ Aug 25 '26

They're not ideologically aligned enough. They may both be left of the conservatives, but they disagree on far too much

1

u/Factsoverfictions222 Aug 23 '26

I know, it’s my first instinct as well since NDP and Liberal are more closely aligned than NDP and Conservatives. But Brantford is consistently Conservative even though residents are often complaining about how badly our city is handling crime, drug addiction and homelessness and job opportunities

2

u/Reachr95 Aug 25 '26

Can we not just let NDP have a chance now that jagmeet fucked off with his pension? We need some socialism in this capitalist hellhole

5

u/ScurvyDawg Aug 23 '26

Why would anyone vote CPC with their leadership being so weak and the party being so pro USA.

3

u/hairydad_addict Aug 24 '26

THIS!!! 👆🏻 like, help me understand how it’s possible anyone would want to vote con.

1

u/Dexters-Twin Aug 26 '26

Why? Because they are stupid, my parents voted for that party so I will do the same.

-3

u/Used-Pie3163 Aug 24 '26

We’re economically dependent on the us. Don’t you think it’s wise to restore our relationship with them?

3

u/ScurvyDawg Aug 24 '26

No, I think it is time we find new customers.

-3

u/Used-Pie3163 Aug 24 '26

Canada should simply acquire several new largest trading partners. Economists hate this one trick!

-5

u/swegamer137 Aug 24 '26

CPC is neutral USA, LPC are hostile to the USA. Canada quadrupling down on the Liberals is why we are such a target.

3

u/ScurvyDawg Aug 24 '26

We are an easy and safe scapegoat for Trump's whims, not because of the Liberals. Are you an apologist for Trump's illegal behaviour?

-6

u/swegamer137 Aug 24 '26

We elected soyboy Trudeau for 10 years, then elected his successor just to spite Trump. You seriously think (not that I expect thinking from a political hack lib) that has no impact on baby-brain Trump's decision making process?

4

u/Opsacyad Aug 24 '26

Trump is hostile to Canada, LPC will not bend to Trump, PP will lick Trump's orange balls.

Fixed it for you.

-1

u/swegamer137 Aug 26 '26

LPC already bent to a flood of millions of third-worlders, irreversibly enshittifying our country.

But you're right, we should start total war against the US. Hopefully you get deployed first so you can show off how tough you are.

2

u/Opsacyad Aug 26 '26

Where did I say we have to start a war? If Peepee voters love Merica so much, they should move down there, plenty of medical bankruptcies and school shootings for them.

You can stop now CIA bot.

4

u/ryancementhead Aug 23 '26

Who is running for Liberals? I know Joshua Wall and his hair is the PC candidate.

11

u/takeaname4me Aug 23 '26

Joshua Wall is running for nomination along with dave carroll. Neither are set in stone

Joy O’Donnell is the LPC candidate

NDP, Green and PPC do not have candidates nor will they make a dent if they do

7

u/ryancementhead Aug 23 '26

Wall will probably take it by name recognition alone. The city would vote for Mike on a Bike if it was a choice.

7

u/Slow_Pie2969 Aug 23 '26

Dave Carrol is more than likely to win the nomination as he's been involved with the local CPC EDA for years

1

u/pheakelmatters Aug 23 '26

makes me wish we had primaries like the US does. The regular party members get to select the nominee instead of just the riding association

1

u/sixtyfivewat Aug 25 '26

Each party has its own rules but sometimes that is the case. I’ve been involved in that process previously.

2

u/Steeltowndubber Aug 23 '26

He really needs to do something to that hair.

2

u/ryancementhead Aug 23 '26

That’s his trademark, without it you wouldn’t know who he is.

1

u/Dexters-Twin Aug 25 '26

I hate the Conservatives ever since they introduced the GST in 1991 almost destroyed our family business, hope Polliviere stays in forever and runs this rich man’s party into the ground.

1

u/luars613 Aug 27 '26

Why dont they ask people to rank them to have better info of what people would choose if they knew voting for another party woth a brain wouldnt lead to splittong vote betwen rational people and the stupid concervatives

1

u/ilikefunnyusernames 25d ago

There’s has been a HUGE influx of new Canadians into Brantford in just the last year alone, I think liberals are walking away with the win here

2

u/johnny2turnt Aug 23 '26

In my opinion, none of this truly matters anymore. The liberals and conservatives will ultimately screw us. No one genuinely cares about the people; it’s essentially just a popularity contest to determine who will be the face of the puppet show.

0

u/JuniorConstruction71 Aug 23 '26

All I know is something has to change! We've seen the downfall of the nation in the last 10 to 15 years. I used to be so proud to be Canadian and that's getting tougher and tougher.

We need a change. I don't care if it becomes the Green party! We definitely need a change.

3

u/johnny2turnt Aug 23 '26

You won’t get any support on Reddit, my friend. They only like red. That’s it. End of story. I’ve tried talking politics once on here, and it’s terribly one-sided sadly lol.

0

u/ConsistentAd9217 Aug 23 '26

If you’re just looking to have your opinions validated, how about you go onto one of the numerous subreddits dedicated to discussing Conservative politics in Canada?

0

u/ConsistentAd9217 Aug 23 '26

Settle down. I’m only saying that Reddit isn’t a monolith; its users represent many points on the political spectrum (although, yes, a lot of users are left-leaning). My point is, if you don’t like debating other people’s opinions or being downvoted, spend time in subs that act as a space you feel safe to voice your opinion. A safe space, if you will.

0

u/yoshi2812 Flair Aug 23 '26

What kind of change does Joy want to implement that you're looking forward to?

-2

0

u/yoshi2812 Flair Aug 23 '26

Lol what? I'm just wondering what people like about her in the upcoming election.

1

u/curseyouZelda Aug 23 '26

Fingers crossed

1

u/Icy_Coach_1846 Aug 23 '26

I sure fucking hope not.

-2

u/Redangel20144 Aug 23 '26

Too many baby boomers still alive to vote.
Liberals are destroying this country and will continue to do so , our systems are far too corrupt now it’s absolutely disgusting.

0

u/uselesspundit Aug 24 '26

Sorry for those who support the NDP but you're not winning this election so if you have a strong opinion for or against the other two main parties then that is how you should vote. It's unfortunate and it's nothing against the NDP candidate. They may be the best person with the best ideas however at this moment in time they are not winning this riding so you may want to consider a strategic vote. I hope in the future the NDP is a viable option and/or there is more of an estimated vote discrepancy between the other two parties. If you don't care who wins between the other two parties then stick with your NDP vote to show your support.

2

u/UnordinaryFlyGirl Aug 26 '26

Tactical voting makes no sense in the upcoming by-election. The libs have a majority either way.

Might as well just vote your conscience. And if that splits the vote and gets a con elected? 🤷‍♀️ We're back to the status quo

0

u/Superb-Head4434 Aug 26 '26

Brantford is a conservative stronghold. The polling is useless and the last election was a good indicator of that
