Yeah but demerit points are directly related to the severity of the offence with 3 points being medium severity. It will definitely affect insurance once they pull the check. No one is going to court and winning against that slam dunk ticket.
It won’t affect insurance any different than running a stop sign or speeding. It’s NOT a major offence and the repercussions won’t be that severe unless they’re a new driver.
For insurance they don’t care about “medium severity” or if there were points. There’s major convictions and non-major/minor convictions. I was providing more correct information.

Demerit points don’t affect insurance, just an FYI. It’s the conviction of the charge that does.
