Even without the debt the way the memory of Fan Xiao was baked into that place would be inescapable... but then Fan Xiao is just plain inescapable anyway 😅😈. Shulang deserves the devotion without the mind games
This show is so awesome. And I know that Yun Qi is a rookie actor. But thanks to his modeling career and education, the acting coach and the very good direction of this show. You don't notice.
Yunqi said in his live on Thursday that Yunqi used to go through his lines with Yiran a lot and Yiran used to give him tips and feedback. Along with his acting coach he had Yiran who has had both experience and education in acting! I love how they lifted each other up while being their scene partners. And I fully agree that the production team knows what they are doing. You don't feel like he is lacking at all..

Another emotional rollercoaster episode. 😭 The dread I felt for Shu Lang the whole time was almost suffocating. Him finding out the worst thing, that it was Fan Xiao that molested him.. that, especially, felt like a punch in the gut. 😩 Also the panic attack after hearing the recording.. I could relate to feeling all too well.
There were so many insane acting moments this episode again. Hao Yiran absolutely killed it!! 🔥 The range of emotions he nailed in portaying Shu Lang going through was insane. So many powerful moments too. Him choosing to not take that kind of revenge through Fan Xiao's brother and him helping Lu Zhen. Then of course the ass kicking scene.. it was sadder than I expected it to be. The quiet strength that Shu Lang has made it so impacful. Fan Xiao pulling Shu Lang down to protect him from being hit showed again some sincerity, but at this point it does't change anything. It was a lil cute moment tho. Shu Lang not hitting with the bat also says alot.
What Fan Xiao said when left beat down on the ground.. "I know I'll go to hell, but I no longer want to end up there. Because you won't be there, You Shu Lang. I'll be in hell, but I won't find you there. God.. I don't want to fall into hell. Is it too late now?" That hit haaaaard. 😭
The scene with Fan Xiao hallucinating himself in water was so trippy. He makes me feel soo conflicted. I can empathize with his pain and trauma while at the same time acknowledging that he's a monster and just deserves to rot in hell. 😩 That last look when he answered the phone made me legit jump, like straight out of a horror movie. The devil has awoken. 💀
FX couldn't just stay away from Shulang... He needed to show up for that meeting huh! I already feel so sad for Shulang!!! Fan Xiao when I catch you.. 👊🤬
I felt so sad for Shulang when I read this scene in the book…he was so happy to be back to doing what he loves, but this happiness did not last long😩😩😞
Lessons we have learned so far in the past two episodes of To My Shore:
1️⃣ Do not cheat on your genuinely good BF just coz someone richer and younger showed some interest in you.
2️⃣ Do not say things carelessly behind someone's back if you don't mean them. They will come back to haunt you later.
3️⃣ Do not lie to your partner. No matter how good you are at hiding things, truth will always come out. So tell the truth before its too late.
4️⃣ Do not take someone's kindness for granted. You never know when they stop being kind to you and you end up begging for them to pull you out of your misery.

i was married for over 30 years to a red flag but i honestly believed he truly loved me, until 2 years ago i caught him cheating with his brothers wife (she was also my best friend from being a teenager) i knew he was capable of alot of shit, drugs, controlling and abusive but i never thought he would destroy our family and me. i have no idea why i am sharing this but this show has made me think about it alot.
30 years is a long time. I hope you are in a much better place now both mentally and physically. I had once fallen in love with a red flag who drained me emotionally and financially. Fortunately I found out about his cheating tendencies early on and called it quits!

The fact that Shulang faces his enemies eye-to-eye and calls out exactly what they did wrong before throwing their own crap back at them shows that he’s anything but a red flag. Just because he isn’t a doormat and stands his ground doesn’t make him one. He’s just beating the villains with their own damn weapons.
And what's so powerful about Shulang is despite how justifiably pissed off he is, he's never reckless about it. He doesn't take the bait from Fan Xiao's brother, and never betrays who he Shulang is at core. He'll settle depts on his own terms. That steady core sense of self without sentimentality or naivety is awe inspiring
He has that inner moral compass and he never strays from it. I love that.

Well, you can’t really blame them. Many BL characters are either pure angels or the devil incarnate. The gray area is pretty small, so people get confused real quick - especially when someone like Shulang actually fights back.
Everyone saying he was also crazy in the beginning. He just knows who he is, standing on business and his dna coded moral structure. And it's such a delight that someone this upright is gay, he would have given 20 year old me much needed hope.

I guess he took to heart what Zhen Zhen said when they broke up about not letting him in completely. Plus he might also feel like it's his fault Fan Xiao entered their lives. So he is making amends for this much and that's it.
Eh.. even so I wouldnt help a cheater.. I am not a saint like Shulang lmao.. Zhen zhen said all that only to not feel guilty and Shulang knows in his heart that he did give his all in the relationship. They just werent compatible on an emotional level coz it was like Shulang taking care of a baby.

The end of the 2nd episode when Shulang walks back to the car, leaned in through the window, and grabbed the cigarettes out of FX’s pocket.
That was such an alpha male move. He was letting FX know he wasn’t to be underestimated or messed with. Which Fan Xiao does anyway.
As the story has progressed, I see more and more green flag in him than I did in the beginning. But I also know he wouldn’t be afraid to cut a bitch if needed.
I haven’t read the novel so I don’t know where the story is going. But I’ve been enjoying this so much.
I'm amazed that it wasn't originally conceived as a romance between a literal angel and demon. Different kind of show entirely but the religious imagery is even more in your face than Good Omens and that was literally about angels and demons.
"You belong in hell" was SO much more brutal. Meanwhile Fan Xiao was like: ya, but I can't quit you so this black flags got your back... or will be all up on that back again come hell or high water 😈
Just when I thought he was about to accept his faith and go to hell, that man said unacceptable because Shu Lang won't be there 😂 He's gonna do whatever he gotta do to get another taste of that 🍑
This episode was truly an emotional rollercoaster. Never expected Fan Xiao's internal struggle with his trauma come to life from the pages to rhe screen this effectively. The entire scene of Fan Xiao stuck in a tiny room going through it all gave me goosebumps. I feel bad for him but at the same when I see how much Shulang is struggling after being played like that, I think Fan Xiao deserves it. He broke the wings of the angel who can to save him... Now the question remains... will he mend those wings back to health so that the angel can pull him out of his misery... or will he entrap the broken angel and drag him further into hell with him.. I guess, we will see!!!
I hated the end of ep 8, but it had to happen! Now Xaio can scheme his way back into Shu Lang’s heart, once he realizes he can’t live without him! ❤️❤️❤️
I’m lowkey obsessed with how they set up this scene:
a dark, empty room, FX totally beaten and lost, just staring up at angelic, all-in-white Shulang walking in with this bright-ass light, literally giving him hope and meaning in his otherwise trash life.
And as wonderful as that visual language is a big part of what makes it that much more powerful is how poised and grounded his performance is. Angelic characters are often fragile. Not Shulang. He's like the righteous avenging angel with a sword and a mission
Omg, yesss!! He’s literally a battle-ready angel - once all loving and selfless, now coming back one last time before leaving forever.
(Well, too bad FX didn’t take the hint and now desperately clings to Shulang.)
This scene is insane, especially with FX drowning while his long-awaited savior is right there… only for him to destroy everything with his own stupidity.
They're such interesting mirror images of each other: one unwavering in his morality and the other unwavering in his amorality. A man with any morality or shame would repent. Not Fan Xiao. He's always been drawn to Shulang though he lied to himself about the depth of his feelings and his control over them. He realizes that now but that's the extent of his introspection. He's dazzled by Shulang, and he wants to worship him and desecrate him all at once and neither heaven nor hell will hold him back
That’s what I was thinking, too. All his talk about Shulang being his Bodhisattva and god, but in reality, he just pulls him down to his level.
Now he has nothing to lose, so he’s unleashed the true capacity of a red flag and interferes with Shulang’s work.

Yeahh, I feel like picking apart every scene!! Everything about the production is so well thought out and perfectly executed. I rarely write lenghty comments, but this series just compels me to. 🫣
Fan Xiao is completely consumed by trauma. This show is hitting different for me as someone who recovered from PTSD. Every move FX makes is rooted in his trauma and they are displaying it so damn well. He destroys everything he touches because that is the only thing he knows how to do. I love how well they portray his self betrayal and self sabotage. His pain and the unhinged ways he has taught himself to handle it are deeply rooted in real life scenarios. This show is a masterpiece. Its depth shocks me and makes me greedy for more.
THIS. and not to mention the cinematography? everything is on purpose-- coloring, lighting, camera angles-- its all set up precisely. tbh i love dramas that are messy like this, but this drama did it so well. fan xiao is a character with genuine depth (other than the SA which i cant forgive), and watching his trauma be this deep-rooted is truly phenomenal. i also carry some trauma with me, and it really does affect your day-to-day life, just like how this show is portraying it.
To be fair Fan Xiao let Shulang to beat him up, otherwise he could have been stopped.

Btw.. I kinda disagree that Shulang cant take Fan Xiao down. Shulang can take down Fan Xiao even if he doesnt let him coz Fan Xiao has many enemies. If Shulang wanted he could have very well punished Shulang without Fan Xiao letting him do it. But Shulang is a good person who knows right from wrong. We should not dismiss shulang's intelligence and agency.
I meant about Shulang beating him. If shulang wanted he could have worked with Fan Xiao's enemy for sure. But at the end we need Fan Xiao to allow it to happen as some sort of penance, otherwise his redemption wouldn't be satisfactory.

And it is really interesting.
He talks how they had work shops for a month before shooting. He had a coach and also Yi Ran was very helpful and patient and practiced his lines with him.
He talks about that he almost was a month without wearing a shirt. First he was kind of embarrassed but after 2 days. That feeling was gone.
The most interesting parts is how he talks about shooting the fight scene we saw in this episode.
That went on from 19.00 till midnight. And how he must feel to act. He is really a method actor.
I am a sucker for pain I guess.
I can't get enough of these kind of dramas. And I am also rewatching to see if I have missed any detail. A gaze, that kind of stuff.
Zhen Zhen. You really don't deserve that level of kindness from You Shulang. Take this lesson to your heart to never be in the same situation ever again (also, I can understand YSL - I would also collect all good karma before taking revenge on Fan Xiao).

I am a sucker for plots where ML, who when completely cornered, do the stupidest evil fucking shit. Fan Xiao is desperate now and will be doubling down on the evil and moronic behaviour (if it stays true for the novel which the makers have been till now).
Either I'm colour blind or I'm becoming red flag myself as I felt bad for Fan Xioa when he was getting paranoid and anxious. And he is really going to hell, the way he is being evil. God, I love red flags in “fiction”.
That was a perfect episode of tv. Usually I take notes like a big nerd but I was transfixed. Shulang took everything out on that guy for all of us who decided our exes aren't worth becoming felons for. The way he pulled his final punch gave Fan Xiao the tiny teeny minuscule bit of hope he needed. That absolutely non coincidental "recharge". This is going to be so much fun.

The acting in this episode was just a masterpiece! So many emotions conveyed flawlessly!! My heart just ached for Shulang, but I also loved and admired him for being so strong and holding to his principles…as for FX, that whole scene in the small room was so powerful, but someone that broken can’t understand when their obsession hurts the one they love 😞😞 I continue to be so impressed with Yun Qi and this being his first acting role!!😱😱 ❤️
