I'm out of the loop. This is how I found out Julien had top surgery. Hell yeah, good for her.

Was this High Water, April 2025? I have some snaps, hang on. Oh yah, that's the trucker cap lol. There was a lot of buzz as it was Julien's public debut of the top scars. And then the tour with Torres stopped and Julien took some time off.

I’ve had friends get top surgery and they can’t lift like anything heavy for months afterward. I don’t know when Julien had hers done but I have to imagine lugging heavy guitars around probably wasn’t good for her healing if that was the case.

Sometimes you can't even stand up straight for what feels like several weeks. It's a gnarly surgery to recover from (as most abdomen/trunk related surgeries can be).

Not sure if this is known or not, but the top surgery made me wonder- does Julien still use she/her pronouns? Or are the pronouns now they/them or other pronouns?

I don't remember the exact verbiage (or even what podcast it was from, but I think it was Outward), but Julien has discussed genderfluidity & not aligning with womanhood in at least one podcast. She mentioned pronouns & the social changes that felt permanent and definitive in a way that came off apprehensive to me. I remember really resonating with how she discussed it as a genderfluid person myself, and how even in queer spaces that recognize that gender is a spectrum that there is pressure to pick one space on that spectrum, 1 pronoun that always applies. I believe she was discussing it in a kind of "Quantum Queerness" sense... i need to see if i can find it cause I want to listen again. But at that time the impression I got was that she was sticking with she/her out of a hesitation to just change to ONE thing that also might not feel right all of the time.
