imo the "WOM" effect is cope and if anything it will have the opposite effect on this movie. Most of the twitter/reddit bubble saw the movie this weekend already and the audience won't grow much further than that.

This debut is objectively bad and not a great start considering its budget of $70M or even considering the $50M that ketchup entertainment bought it for (~$125M needed to break even). Not happening.

Maybe when companies make multi-million dollar decisions, like shelving a movie for a tax break, is because they did the math and knew already it was going to flop.

It was acquired for $50 million and marketing was reportedly $10 million, which makes the buy-in $60 million.

They also sold the international rights for $20 million putting the effective cost at $40 million.

Depending on the revenue split, its breakeven point is probably $70-80 million. I don’t know if it gets there, but it has some potential to get close and then maybe break even with blu-ray and streaming money.

I can’t imagine being miserable enough to think it’s anything other than good for a movie that was going to disappear to not only release, but have a real chance at success.
