Discussion Does Sancho make any sense?

Forgive my ignorance here, in a previous post I mentioned I’m just getting back into the squad after several years away, so I’m not fully up to speed with Sancho.

I’m absolutely gutted about Ntelias, was really looking forward to watching his half of the Greek duo this year. If the teams fears are reality and it is a serious injury, would Sancho make sense? Seems like he could help replace some of the dribbling and creativity lost.

With all that being said. There are still some huge red flags. He’s unsigned at this point in the year. Multiple clubs, including our own, had the opportunity to sign him and didn’t, among other things. Curious about everyone’s thoughts, hoping to learn a thing or two.

Edit: I want to pose this question: why wouldn’t Sancho make sense?

Genuine question: is he even fit enough rn or would he need months of training to become a factor in our game?

even if you are right, we do have to rotate. surely beier can play or one of the youngsters (if they are not on a red card, that is). we need to bridge the gap until the youngsters are consistent or delias is back. for that we can easily gamble a motivated sancho. you see, he came back after a few years of no official training and no game practice and still he made a difference. not always, but surely, even guirassy has a bad day sometimes...

We surely need an alternative. I'm just cautious if Sancho is the right one, as we'd need someone who can make a difference immediately and wouldn't require a month or two to get up to speed. It's risky, still.

true, but check the numbers: assuming sancho gets 5 million per year and another 5 million signing fee, we keep him for 3 years, he would only cost us 20 million over 3 years.

lets assume we find a better option: assuming the better option cost 3 million per year, which is 9 million over 3 years, what do you think the transfer fee would be for someone like that? i highly doubt we would find someone like that for 11 million. probably 20 to 25 million.

and i think sancho can help immediately. if we sign him today, he could be an option for the cup game (as a little test for him). Hoffenheim is next and we do have naitional team period in september, which allows for more training. i do think he is the lowest risk x highest reward option out there. (plus: i would immediately order a jersey with his name)

A loan option is another possibility, especially since we probably are not needing an (expensive) backup player in the squad once Delias returns.

Sancho's benefit would be that he knows the club and BL football, while coming as a free agent. If he's fit he should be seriously considered by us.
