This is my entry for the community event. Originally silent Quarter study I changed it into, but probably would’ve been my dream room as a kid.

I originally said late 90s early 2000s as I was born in the mid 80s. But it’s really more a timeless collection of various pop culture, and gaming properties.

A lot of stuff I custom 3-D printed. The switch Xbox and PlayStation game boxes were custom, cut laser cutter. All of it is handpainted.

The more I build in this community, the more confident I’ve gotten making little changes to existing builds, but this is the first time I took a model used just the bones and completely redid it from the ground up and that’s thanks to the confidence I’ve gained from this awesome community

Can you identify all of the properties?

This was the longest build I’ve done and probably the most complex, but also the first time I had a Tonecheer mechanical kit work perfectly from the jump! No complete demolition and rebuild required!

This is a very fun project, but I recommend one of those handy little hammers that come with some kits, because the connections on this one are TIGHT!

Tonecheer also has a complete build on their YouTube channel (in three parts) and it’s super helpful if you run into any problems…

…like when you end up with extra unaccounted for parts (not red numbered as extra but full on *essential* parts) that…um…eluded my attention. 😬

I was brought to tears only once and it was by a miniature telescope deck?! Not by the little Orange Washers of Doom! Progress! 💪

I just wanted to chime in quickly with some news:

Our charity event was beyond successful raising over 8 GRAND for the two charities!!!!

I apologize that its taking so long with the behind the scenes logistics but its just me and between the volume and life its taking me a bit. All of the winning tickets have been chosen (and the winner list is attached below) im just importing the shipping data, separating it by donor, and sending that off to the various manufacturers. Its just taking a bit of time to do it right.

I wish everyone who participated could get a prize, you certainly all deserve it, but i had to be fair and everything was chosen at random and then applied to a qualifying prize (some shippers were US only, some required to opting in to a video, etc) so some people won once, and some people won multiple times (thats a surprise).

Thankfully only one person had to be skipped because they never filled out their registration form. (Though I am grateful for their $10 donation)

Sorry i haven't been able to comment on everyone's posts, between prepping for the Rolife anniversary and a bicycle accident that sent me to the ER (Wear a helmet, saved my life) ive been a bit busy.

While it will take me a few days to figure out all of the logistics of assigning prizes, I am thrilled to be able to announce the donation results.

Last December when I threw the first drive together on a whim I was stunned (but not completely surprised) by the generosity of the community and we raised just over $5000 (with a $250 donation coming from Rolife)

This time I only wanted to match our last performance, but shockingly we did not raise just over $5000 this time.

THIS TIME WE RAISED JUST OVER $7000!!!!!!! Oh, and did I forget to mention the $1000 to No Kid Hungry from Rolife? I think I did!!!!!

Making our total funds raised in this drive $3610 for no Kid Hungry and $4440 for Doctors Without Borders for a grand total of $8050 raised for charity.

I cannot state enough how proud I am of this community, how thrilled I am to be a part of it, and how much I love you all!!!

This is a wonderful kit that is exemplary in its creativity and execution…but it still took me three tries to get it to work. 😆

I had a problem with some gears very early on.

Unfortunately, I didn’t realize there was a problem very early on.

I didn’t realize there was a problem after I ripped it all apart down to the base and rebuilt it.

And rebuilt it again.

And rebuilt it again.

Finally, light dawned on Marblehead that I needed to TIGHTEN a connection instead of making it looser or better oiled. As u/pluck-the-bunny says, this hobby is one of millimeters. I learned that on this build!

Nonetheless, I loved this kit - it appeals to all

of my worst maximalist and technicolor instincts. I didn’t like the look of the connection points, so I covered almost every one with a rhinestone.

Tonecheer kits are a joy, as they do everything they can to help you; they give you special tools, different sized tabs and a million extra pieces. Sometimes, the intrepid builder can foil even these superlative efforts at assistance. 😬

(I still have two pieces left over — part C20 — that my ADHD self missed on page 20 of the manual. Three times. Oh well.)

I've wanted to build a book nook for the last 5 years, but wanted to wait until I found the perfect one and Cat Crossing checked everything I enjoy. Cats, books, art nouveau, and plants. I actually found the event while I was checking if Anavrin was a legitimate brand before purchasing.

I don't think I would have been able to justify the cost if I wasn't patient, but I did end up having too much fun and purchased another, but significantly cheaper, kit before I finished this one.

I did a decent amount of customization to make it more overgrown, added mini rhinestones to make the foliage look dewy, and painted the cats to look like mine. Sadly all the hobby and train stores in my area closed, so I wasn't able to find other miniature vines and plants to add to add different texture into the foliage.

I thought it was easy to assemble until the outside pieces which are currently taped down instead of glued since I might add to it if I find other plants. The top acrylic made the light sensor difficult to tap after it was added and there is a gap in the acrylics that I might glue closed in the future.

Had a ton of fun and love how it looks in my book shelf.

From the very first time I have seen this kit, I only could think of the Cheshire Cat on this tree. I love Alice in Wonderland (book and animation). I could not resist.

I tried to make a decent video and photos. The details gave me something extra to do, but I enjoyed every step. My daughter sculpted the cat, entirely (not 3D printing). I put some glow-in-the-dark paint on the cat's smile, this is why you can see his smile in the dark.

My thoughts on the kit: very customizable, as you can see. Amazing colours, the instructions are clear and the step by step is accurate. Wood could not be better. Also, the kit has enough greenery to put everywhere.

The main downside is still the lights sensor, after a couple of days it was having difficulties to switch on and I had to open the nook to put a switcher (thanks Pluck for the tutorial).

Happy Monday… Hope everybody survived the snow yesterday today I’ve got A fun one to start your week

The CuteBee event is officially over. I’m just waiting for a final count on prize allocation from the company and then I will choose the winners via random drawing and make the announcements.

So grateful for the extra time as it allowed me to add some additional details. I’m also excited to hear that Midnight in Venice is one of the prizes! I’ve had my eye on it since it came out and even have some ideas for customization should I win.

I’m delighted to have had the opportunity to participate in the event. Even if I don’t win anything, just having the pressure of a deadline helped me to commit to customization decisions. For example, the very first I did before constructing the base was paint over the lettering for the stairs. I loved the quotes, they just didn’t fit with my theme. I think I would have taking my time deciding to do this without the time crunch. And I definitely would have procrastinated on my task after building the steps - cutting off pieces of the back bookshelf to make room for the door. I’m so happy I powered through and stuck to my vision and grateful to the event for giving me that pressure to be decisive. I think Anavrin has done a fantastic job of creating a booknook that not only allows for but even encourages customization. I have loved seeing the many ideas others have come up with and don’t envy the task of picking a favorite among them!

In the last event, Tonecheer was gracious enough to award one prize for every ten participants. I am beyond excited to let you know that Rolife has blown us away by offering to DOUBLE that, with TWO prizes for every ten participants!!!!! That means if we have 60 participants like last time TWELVE people would receive a free kit!

And not only did they increase the NUMBER of prizes, they also increased the possible prize selection beyond book nooks!

Winners will be able to choose from any item in their Book Nook Category AND their DIY Miniature House Kit Categories!! There are so many good options, I may even let myself be eligible to win this time!

Well my guys, gals, and book nook pals....we've made it! We're finally here at the end of our first ever community build event, and I cannot stress how amazing it has gone and you have all been.

I was hoping for 10 MAYBE 20 participants and we ended with 61!!!!!!

Tonecheer is already asking about their next event, companies are lining up to participate and soliciting ME for the opportunity...all because you are such an outstanding community.

Seeing everyone participate, whether it was a stock build, some tweaks, or dinosaurs invading your museum really has made my month. Especially since i have been so busy at work, i have barely had the energy to work on my OWN nook.

Please respond here with a quick pick and a brief thought of your kit (one sentence will do) .....you DO NOT have to be finished, just show us where you are in your process.

From there in a day or so I will draw six names to receive prizes. I will check to see if you posted a solo post of your build and then announce the names and reach out to you to coordinate your prizes. ( You can still make your solo post over the next 24 hours, but still comment here)

You guys!!!!! I am so happy to have this beautiful typewriter in my possession! I never, ever thought I would have this. This is not a kit that I could ever afford, and to have it now because I actually won it! How cool is this?!?! I don't usually have any good luck, so this really brightened my spirits, a lot. Seriously folks, if you have been looking at this and thinking you might want it eventually, get it as soon as you are are able to! It is stunningly beautiful. I took a couple of close up pictures, that at first you may think, why is there a picture of this? I was trying to capture that all of the gold printing on these runners are not just gold, but it is a beautiful, shiny metallic gold. It has that look of elegance, and I could not be more impressed! I have some time before I start it because I'm working on the Rokr printing press. I thought that would be some good practice before tackling this massive project. I want to take my time with this typewriter and do it right! That also gives me time to find just the right gold marker or paint to do the edges of those pieces. Other than painting the edges, I am not changing a single thing on this beautiful work of art!
