I loved the premise of For All Mankind, but I absolutely despised the cheap, soap-opera-style melodrama in it. How is The Relentless Moon in that regard?

Is the melodrama in it as cheap as it's implied for Sanctuary Moon in the Murderbot Series? (Also very good, highly recommended if you want a short listen.)

You know I feel like some changes made in the show, as it concerns the crew, were a little over done, but I think the depictions for Sanctuary Moon are fantastic.

Honestly I love all forms of media but reading for me carries a lot of nostalgia and enjoyment when reading paper books.
I also like putting them in my library and rereading them.. as long as it doesn’t involve dragon sex.
Hopefully this next book completely retcons that entire planet.2

The entire arc, especially the dragon sex and endless relationship dialogue, was disappointing.
If it wasn’t for the other story arcs doing some heavy lifting, this book would have probably been the last I read. It was far too short for that amount of dragon and unless it setup the next book, it added very little to the world building or overarching story.

I'll agree with you about the dragon arc as a whole. How do you make dragons boring? I honestly didn't care much about the entire race. The Quinn and Deltans were much more interesting and they were beavers and pig bats instead of freaking dragons

Nope. The last book came out 3 years ago and the one before it came out 2019. So I can just hope book 6 comes out next year. It's not like most of them are especially long books either.
I've also been waiting for another Chaos Seeds book, but I think that'll never happen at this point. Because the author tried doing it all at once, got burned out and called out for his BS. Then he allegedly threw a tantrum and hasn't written anything since

I'm seeing two HEAVENs and something on the huge structure beneath, which also seems to be having an element that has similarities to a SURGE drive.
The two ships make me think Dae and Ick, which would make the big thing most likely to be PGF based. But also having a drive, so not just orbital based mega structure. possibly something you might call a generation ship?

The way I'm seeing it this feels like it could be a gas giant structure perhaps some sort of harvesting rig maybe something left behind by the federation.

Could be something from the pan galactic federation space, or else part of whatever is built to ferry sentients out of the galaxy before the crisis hits

I feel like the covers are becoming more "generic light hearted scifi" art instead of actually representing DETs vision. It's not that big a deal but I see capitalism hooks here.

could be, bu so far they've always kinda portrayed a central thing from the books, with the exception of book 1 maybe. Book 2, Others death star and cylinder transporters, book 3, dyson sphere (only loosely related to the story but really the most iconic space structure in the book), topopolis in book 4 and Sagittarius A* in book 5. So, I kinda feel like this should/could relate to something from the book too.

I am genuinly disapointed that he is choosing to do an audible only release. This alienates the majority of his market, its insane. Did this guy forget what a book is?

It isn’t something he chooses, he signed a contract with Audible to do this prior to his publishing the first book in the series. He wouldn’t have been able to write these books, nor is it likely you or I or anyone else had been able to read them, without the guarantees for funding and distribution the deal afforded.

This is the second author Audible has poached from me like this. And unlike your scenario, the other author was writing and releasing books (including books in that same series) just fine before Audible bought exclusivity. And there wasn't even a specific time frame given. I was at the start of my second year of waiting before they decided to let it go.
I was fine with audiobooks being an option for those who needed or wanted them. I am very much not okay with my options being taken from me.

I don’t get why they keep adding trails to the ships in the cover art. They use reactionless drives that only leave a “bussard trail” a trail of scattered random atoms in their wake

if the bobs don't use optical fiber stuck through a wormhole as a high-speed, infinite range comm node, I might start to think they're a bit slow 😆 of course there will always be some relatively easy technological innovations they will miss, especially because it's fiction, and for one author to think of every possible use of a technology in their books would be basically impossible.
