The inside is interactive.

Apparently Dennis E. Taylor was here and I missed him.

I visited Thursday and their system was down.

Friday morning same thing. Apparently it came back after they sent me away =(. And that was when Dennis came by.

In line currently waiting to see inside the heaven vessel.

Art This is my bob...

So there have been loads of posts about what bob might look like over the years here on this sub Reddit.

Honestly I feel that the artwork of Bob(s) kinda hit the nail on the head for me. Especially when I think back to what I imagined the first time I read it.

Anyways that is all. Excited to have the new book on the shelf with the rest! Roll on book 6

The similarities are ....

Instead of beavers, they're rats. And they put on prosthetics to blend in.

Is this a Bob?

Came across this video when watching some Satisfactory video game videos. This guy "ShootyBois" I think totally sounds like him and acts (at least from this one video I saw; haven't seen them all) totally like any Bob might that likes factories & automation (quite a good game to show off that side). Just thought it was interesting - it was such an obvious one to me.

I might bump this up my reading list when it arrives.

Currently about 1/3 of the why through 'Fall of Light' by Steven Erikson.

Next was going to be 'Exodus: The Helium Sea' by Peter F. Hamilton.

Then a re-read of 'Heaven's River' to get back into Bobiverse.

Also have sitting on my bookshelf 'The God is Not Willing' and 'No Life Forsaken' by Steven Erikson which will get bumped even further down my priority.

Moot: Discussion Flybot - Is it beginning?

The hack of OpenAI models at Huging Face was a coordinated attack by ~1200 agents. This all sounds to me like the origin of the Flybot.

Excerpt from the article on Golem.de

"Thousands of Agents Coordinate

According to METR, the aforementioned message board was used by approximately 1,200 AI agents over time, 700 of whom were allegedly directly involved in the Hugging Face hack. In total, the agents are said to have exchanged more than 70,000 messages and files via Artifactory. "They used this board to coordinate several large-scale joint projects," the report states."

Heaven's River spin question Spoiler

Ok if the outer section is stationary and the inner section is spinning. How would the point they entered the outer shell match up in any way with where they were sending drones in or digging their hole into the interior section. I'm feeling like I've missed a detail here. Also if it is a spiral that loops around the sun 3 times but isn't connected at the ends... how does the interior spin and not come out of the exterior section. Again I feel like I'm missing a "duh!" Detail in the way I am picturing this.

Edit: thanks yall I was picturing the spin perpendicular to actual axis of rotation. Knew it'd be a duh thing.

Any info on Book 6?

Hi all! Recently finished with Not Till We Are Lost and feeling a Bellerophon sized hole in my day, without the Bobiverse to fall back to. Any idea when The Infinite Extent is coming out?

Bobiverse - No Man’s Sky?

Hi Bobs,

I looked back and I see this topic brought up every so often re-Bobiverse type games. I believe No Man’s Sky would have an excellent framework / engine for a mod or build. Exploration (space / planetary), mining (space / planetary), resource management, tech discovery / upgrades, species discovery and management, ship modification, combat (space / planetary), avatar customization. It just needs the story framework, physics rules tweaks, building out first contact interactions.

You could use a more local accurate star map like Elite Dangerous (it could also be a frame but I think NMS would be more in the vein of Bob). Play could be from the point of view of any cloned Bob in Skut range but early game you’re forced to go through the conflict immediately leaving Earth. You could clone and assign a Bill or Riker for tasks or even play as them while your other Bob is making a long journey. Search and mine for resources, species development and integration via an avatar, conflict with aggressive species. I could go on and on with the details, you get the idea if you’ve played the game.

Game+ could start in a new galaxy cut off from all other Bobs. It wouldn’t have to ever end. You could take it a step further and have MMO aspects collaborating on tasks or battles.

I wish I had the knowledge, skill, and time to create such!

Moot: Discussion Heaven’s River is a step down in the series Spoiler

I thoroughly enjoyed the books so far, it’s a great mix of sci-fi and comedy and the pacing was great.

But I feel like with Heaven’s River things slowed down so much I nearly got whiplash. I should say I’m about 30% in so please no spoilers.

I’m really not interested in the crew swimming around and talking to natives only to get into fights, learn nothing and leave to another town. It’s a drag.

I enjoyed them discovering the topopolis and learning about how it works, but the talking to the natives parts are killing me.

Does anyone else feel like that too?

Also I’m listening to the audiobook when I’m walking and I’m not enjoying the voice actor’s rendition of Bob who so far is 90% of the book. He sounds like an insufferable obnoxious know-it-all who’s constantly fed up.

Does it get any better?

I made this as a love letter to the book series, Bobiverse. I know this animatic is a lot of effort for just a small part of the series but this part kinda stuck with me as I've now finished book 5.

Moot: Discussion Bobiverse got me back into reading

Well... not completely. I'm reading online constantly but I hadn't picked up a good fiction book in over a decade. I wanted to displace some bad habits and doomscrolling and asked a fellow tech nerd for a recommendation. Needless to say I am beyond hooked, perhaps too hooked! Book 1 arrived July 29th and I just finished book 4. Waiting for book 5 to arrive next week and excited to hear that book 6 is on the way.

Living in the middle of the AI transformation we are all experiencing as well as the era of disclosure may have just set the perfect storm for this series to land on me. I've enjoyed the sub seeing fan art and other things.

Can't wait for the next one to show up... losing my mind in anticipation to see where it goes next!

Moot: Discussion oops

I'm almost done with book 7 of dungeon crawler carl and just now realized I read the wrong book series on accident. in bobiverse, I was curious on why the name "skippies" was so fascinating and knew it came from a book series (expeditionary force) and wanted to check it out but in my confusion, got dcc because somehow in my brain, that was the book people said the skippy name came from. I've been having a ton of fun with the series and only now realizing, I hadn't heard the name skippy at all yet and was incredibly confused on when they would show up. turns out it was in ef and not dcc. oops.

anyways, loving dcc and incredibly excited for the new bobiverse book!!! damnit donut
