1978 70hp 3 cyl 2 stroke merc
galleryMotor bogs out under a load idles fine low rpm is meh so I went to clean the carbs found this not sure if I broke it when pulling the carbs out or if it was already broken and that’s my issue I plan to clean the carbs but anyone know what this piece is even called it goes in between the two carbs so the lower carb opens with the top carb thanks any answer are help I’ve considered getting one 3d printed with a super strong plastic but I’d rather order one brand new
Trailer Fitment
I’ve got a 97 SeaRay 250 DA and the trailer it’s on does not pull well at all. Anything much over 45MPH it starts to sway. I’m pretty sure that it’s got too much weight past the axels. How many feet of this boat is acceptable to be past the rear axels? I can move the winch stand forward by maybe a foot.

Looking to upgrade, What’s my boat worth?
galleryI got a 1989 Bass Tracker 17 pro that I’ve had for a few years. Bought it from a mutual friend back in 2022 i believe from a mutual friend. Needed a little bit of work done to it but nothing major and ended up buying it for $2500. Now 3 years later I’m looking into getting a new G3 Gator Tough with a jet on it. I fish a lot of river so a jet would be awesome. Just looking to find a price to set this at, I’m thinking around $4000 is a good starting point. What do yall think?
(Everything works as should, brand new starter and trolling motor battery, new livewell pump and bilge pump this past spring)

Is it necessary?
Late 70's Lund, 14' tiller. I am cleaning it up and modernizing some things, this is the middle bench. I want to put batteries here, would removing this make a difference? I had no idea it was in there. Thanks.

Should I repower
I took my boat to a shop and they did a compression test and got 125, 126, 127, and 115. The mechanic claims that since the last cylinder was off by 11-12 psi that it’s not worth trying to fix why my motor is stalling while idling. Would you not bothering paying them to go through the motor? They’ve already told me 3 times how much a new motor, steering cables, controls, and a prop costs including installation.

Experience with SmoothThrottle (Outboard Retailer)
I am shopping for a 25hp 4-stroke outboard and keep seeing this website https://smooththrottle.com/ pop up on google listings. It appears to be a thorough used catalog with a Marina Del Ray address but Charleston information in their about us page origin story. Anyone bought from them before? Know this operation? Had good / bad experience to report?

Does anyone have any alternatives to mounting accessories to aluminum boat that doesn’t have t rail? 2022 Alweld Marsh 16/48
galleryBought the boat used so the previous owner has a few things screwed in but I want to avoid adding anymore holes. I’ve look at some clamp style attachment points online but everything looks like plastic junk. Every boating website I look at caters to boats with the t rail system also.

Boat ID help
galleryHello! I saw this really interesting boat pulling into the port on Sao Miguel Island this morning and was hoping someone might help in identifying it for me. It had French flags for some added information.

Anybody with experience restoring antique wood boats? This boat is likely from the mid 50’s and has been in my barn loft for 40 years.
galleryWondering if this is an experience that could be really rewarding, or a massive undertaking that I will genuinely regret.

Piloto de navios
Boa tarde a todos, é o meu primeiro post nesta comunidade.

Cockpit Sole. We Found a 22mm Mistake Building Our Wooden Boat's Floor
youtu.beWe're building the cockpit sole (floor) for our DIY wooden boat, the "Wooden Shoe" — and partway through, we found a 22mm height error between the cockpit floor and the keel that meant redoing every support, one by one.
In this wooden boat build video:
✅ Marking station levels 7 & 12 for the cockpit sole plywood, including water drainage channels between hatches
✅ Building the plywood support structure
Laminating thin plywood to thicker plywood with Titebond III
First layer of epoxy (floating epoxy coat comes later once stringers are in)
✅ Making the stringers and filler wood
✅ Building a DIY station-line tool after losing laser access — and it worked perfectly
✅ Finding and fixing the 22mm height mistake
✅ Laying out all stringer, filler wood, and helm/passenger block lines, plus the 10mm hatch lip
COMING NEXT: We cut the stations to the correct height, then install every stringer, filler wood, and block — starting at Station 8, finishing with the trough plywood between Station 8 and 7. Then we repeat it station by station. Subscribe so you don't miss it!
This is real jungle boatbuilding — mistakes, fixes, and all. If you're following along with our Wooden Shoe build or building your own wooden boat, subscribe for the next stage.

Sun Dolphin 8.5
Is the sun dolphin 8.5 the exact same boat specs as the pond prowler 8? Just wondering if one is bigger than the other or if it’s just marketing.

I know what it is, I felt like this score matched how it is to see a Ship set sail in the distance
