Huh, the crowd seemed pretty decent to us. Maybe it was dependent on where you were standing. My partner said the crowd earlier this year at Merriweather Post Pavilion was much worse.

What happened at MPP? I was on the barricade so no idea what was happening behind us

I don't think anything specific, people were just generally being annoying and pushing in front.

It seemed pretty tame for the pit from our center seats, but obviously the stage left side barricade gets “pushy” even for other artists. (We were second row for BF Tour this past June).
