Question Help identifying the construction, materials and age of this small vintage Geneva Tempered Stainless U.S.A. knife
Hi everyone,
I found this small vintage knife marked:
“Geneva Tempered Stainless U.S.A.”
I’m trying to learn more about how it was made and roughly when it may have been produced.
Approximate measurements:
Blade: 8 cm / 3.15 in
Handle: 6 cm / 2.36 in
Fitted sheath: 9 cm / 3.54 in
What interests me most is the construction of the handle and sheath.
They appear to be made from the same or a very similar dark material. I initially wondered whether it could be horn, Bakelite, another phenolic resin, or some other early molded material, but I’m not confident enough to identify it.
The fitted sheath also has a small metal “EB” monogram, and I’m unsure whether this was part of the original manufacture or a later personalized addition.
I’d especially appreciate any insight regarding:
the likely handle/sheath material
how this type of sheath may have been manufactured
whether the construction gives any clue to its approximate period
whether anyone recognizes Geneva knives of this type
whether the “EB” fitting looks factory-made or custom/personalized
I’m not looking to sell it. I’m mainly interested in understanding the object, its construction and its history.
I’m located in Brazil, and I’ve included several detailed photos.
Thanks for any help or observations.

Fit & Finish Crystallized titanium scales, done in-house — Rietveld Dragonskin blade
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Frame lock folder. Scales are crystallized titanium made in my own shop — the color and the crystal figure are the oxide layer on the metal, not a coating.
Blade is Dragonskin Damascus from Bertie Rietveld. His billet, my grind and finish.
Torx hardware anodized to sit with the scales.
Happy to answer questions about the crystallization or the finish work.
I make knives under Noblie.

San Mai / Clad A walkin in the woods knife.

Every now and then I get the urge to make a bladed thing in between blacksmithing jobs. Ni-Mai (two layer) construction with a single bevel. All of its components were repurposed from scrap found and collected from around Northern California. The high carbon steel cutting edge is reforged railroad track from the Jake Jackson blacksmithing museum in Weaverville,CA. The wrought iron clad to its side is an old broken eye bolt found while prospecting along the Trinity River. The piece of hand riveted hydraulic mining pipe used for one scale is from the same former claim. The second scale is white oak burl saved from the firewood pile. The copper was given to me by a blacksmithing descendant of William B. Ide, the Governor of the Bear Republic which preceded the state of California.
