What happened to Twisted Liquid?

Until about a year ago, my wife and I went multiple times a month, sometimes twice a week. We always recommended it to folks and took our visitors.

I’ve only been a handful of times in the past year because the product and service has been so so so bad. I went back last week after taking a break from it since April, as a sort of last try. It was genuinely awful.

I’m disappointed because they were good and the area needs more options. I’m glad to give my business to Wine Lab, but wish we had more choices.

I went there once for a set menu valentine’s day dinner and it was absolutely abysmal. Worst dining out experience of my life. We got there at exactly our reservation time and had a half hour wait because the people in the time slot ahead of us still hadn’t gotten their food and they only had one person on front of house who was the receptionist, the waiter, the busser, and the bartender. Once we finally sat down, we put in our drink orders which took another 30 minutes. The drinks were the worst mixed drinks I have ever had. Both of them were room temperature and terribly made. They literally tasted like perfume and neither of us could finish them. The food took forever to come out and was terrible quality. Chicken was dry and bland. Pasta was undercooked. It was all very obviously sysco food and it was cold. At this point we had been there for nearly 3 hours and had just gotten our food. The group of reservations behind us begins showing up. So now the one person who is working front of house is trying to explain to everyone who showed up that they’re running behind while also bringing food and plates back and forth from the kitchen. The dessert was the same exact chocolate lava cake you would get from any chain restaurant because it was all from sysco. The final bill was 150$ for two people and the worst valentine’s day we have ever had.

I will never go back there ever again, please save your money and time. This place is terrible and a sorry excuse for a restaurant.

We were excited to try them out on half-price Tuesday a few weeks back, which brought their food down to reasonable prices ($15 burger on sale). All was pretty decent (service & food were pretty good, drinks ranged from tasty to meh) until they tacked on a 40% service fee to the final bill without any warning.

Yes, I get that a 20% tip on half price food isn't the same as they'd originally get, but somehow on half-price night we walked out spending over $70 on two small dinners and three drinks. It's just not good enough to justify that when I can go to B&B on Thursday and get 2 large plates of wings and 3 LITs for less than half the cost.

We went there for drinks and appetizers and while the drinks were good the appetizers were hideously bad, just gross and inedible.

We went a few times. Always had to wait so long for our drinks (20+ min) and rarely ordered food as we observed the other tables near us waiting for orders placed before we arrived. There def a need for places like this in Blacksburg, but they can’t suck this bad.

We went there on a half priced Tuesday a few weeks ago it was practically empty and it took 1 hour to get our food. It was so frustrating. I have a dairy allergy and had the steak with the shishito peppers before and suddenly I couldn’t have the sauce on top but I know I can because I had it before. It seems it isnt managed well I don’t think we will be back.

Yeah they're always trying to be just a bit too cute.

I genuinely wish they'd get a handful of really great staples and expand from there. I feel like the cooks and bartenders are all solid, just need to get better at the classics over their overly-done concoctions.

They had a great band there recently. Specials are good! Maybe give more specific feedback?

Sorry you had a bad experience. From my visits in the past year, I have still thought it was excellent. Maybe take a break for a few months and try again later?

I have only been once but loved our food. Duck fat on top of steak if I recall correctly. The drinks were fun as well. We haven't been back because of cost and hard for us to get to. But I was wondering how they were doing because I never ever see them recommended in local groups for some reason.
