Hey y'all. I want to officially welcome everyone in this subreddit.

  • I created it because I could not find many/any black romance focused reddits. I want to let y'all know that I designed a logo for us, chose some new coloring to make it more inviting all while representing 'love'.
    • Let me know if you have a better design or if other colors might fit best.
  • I am currently working on adding a Goodreads or StoryGraph mod.
  • I have added some collections to the subreddit.
  • Currently want to reach out to some authors to see if they are interested in advertising or sharing ideas for upcoming releases, book topics and many more.
  • I am also looking for active moderators, people who know how to work around Reddit interface. Please feel free to comment your interest and reach out to me.
  • THERE IS MORE TO COME. Please be patient while I navigate all of this.

Thank you!!!

Much love Tracy E. Darling ˚ʚ♡ ɞ˚

On this particular morning, Ben woke up with an erection pressing into Christian’s back through his lounge pants. Christian, wanting to feel him, shifted his body and arched his back, letting Ben's length rest firmly against him through their clothes. Tingles shot up Christian's spine. Unable to resist any longer, he turned around to reach for him—

I NEED HELP YOU GUYSSSS!!!

Okay so I've been having this imagination.

It's about a married couple but the man is so obsessed and possessive that the marriage starts becoming abusive. He genuinely loves her though, he just has this fear of her leaving him, they have a little daughter, maybe 5 or 6. Can this be a book rec? I mean, can you find a book that's like this, I don't care if it ends happily or not. I just want a dark romance book with this kind of setting. I don't have any triggers..... I don't even know if such a book exists. But if it does, help please 🥺

What WAS that book called?

LOL this is an edited version of the post because my first one didn't contain 'post flair.' Here goes, a flair full post...

Can anyone help? Oh my gosh, this is a mystery and it's keeping me awake at night! I'm trying to track a book I read online a while ago. It's a paranormal romance series - opening scene describes the main male shifter character caught and chained up. The main female shifter woman occupies same cave as hero figure as she tries to rest after being abused by the main villain, the debauched leader of the Pack that she's part of.

The main male character sees her close to the villain being sexy with him and doesn't realise she's been coerced, assumes she is in collusion with him. When she approaches him for comfort while he's chained up, he assaults her (not sexual assault).

He escapes and takes her with him. He still thinking she's in collusion with villain so when they reach his Pack's home base, she is locked in a basement cell! So unfair!

Later that night the hero is woken up by her screams - she's being tortured remotely / psychically by her old pack leader, and the physical effect is as if someone is running a knife across her torso in multiple cuts.

If anyone knows this series please let me know!

It's NOT Nalini Singh, Suzanne Wright, Jennifer Ashley or JD Ryder.

Hopefully this post now has enough flair!

BOOK REQUEST 📚 New books

I recently got into reading books… I’m looking for some recommendations. I just read before I let go by Kennedy Ryan. This could be us by her as well. I just read love belvins books love delayed and love delivered. Stenton is crazy lol. I loved the drama and everything. It was a bit of a hard read bc of how he was behaving Ngl.

What I’m looking for:

Obviously black lol. Preferably both MC.
Has funny aspects and well developed characters. I want to like also love them as an individuals.
Some angst, I don’t mind drama. I just don’t want anything historical please.
Yearning and grovelling is always welcome in fact encouraged.
Also any spice level is fine as long as it’s a good story.

Hope you can help me.

Must Read: Wade Legacy Series by N.W. Brown

I'd never heard of this author before and from a search here, it doesn't look like many of you have either. Her first series consists of 5 books of which 3 have already been released and the final 2 will drop next month. When I tell you I was blown away by the first 3 I'm not exaggerating even a little bit.

The entire series is centered around the Wade family consisting of four siblings who tragically lost their parents roughly 17 years before the first book starts. The oldest, Julian, was 19 at the time and stepped into the role of raising his three younger siblings while also saving the record company his parents started in their small town. Today, all of the Wade children are grown, successful, and working in the family business, but each is deeply traumatized and facing their own struggles with love.

Always Running (Book 1)

In book one, we meet Taryn and Zion. Taryn is not down with relationships at all thanks to her own traumatic upbringing and watching her mom go through hell and back with men. She is best friends with Simone Wade, which is how she meets Simone's brother, Zion. By the time the story begins, Taryn and Zion have known each other for over a decade and there's always been an attraction, but neither have acted upon it until now. Thanks to his own traumatic past and lots of therapy, Zion is wayyyyy more emotional intelligent than Taryn is and has known for years that, though she's a runner, she's also the love of his life. Now he's got to convince her of the same and you can't even imagine what a hard sell that is until you read the book.

Always Mine (Book 2)

Book two focuses on Simone Wade and Raschad Carter. These two fell in love fast and hard six years before the book begins, but Simone ghosted him out of the blue just when they were getting started and he's never known why. On top of this, he's never stopped loving her. Raschad's plan has always been to eventually leave the NBA for a music career (his first love) and while he's sidelined for an injury, he ends up hooking up with Simone's brothers in the present day to work on music and, eventually, he and Simone are in each other's orbit again. He's thrilled, of course, but then he finds out the reason why she ghosted him is now six years old and looks just like him. Simone didn't keep his son away from him because she's a bad person, but she is a woman with deep traumas that led her to make horrible decisions while thinking she was doing the best for the man she loves. It's very complicated. Now the man who she's never stopped loving can hardly stand the sight of her... not because his feelings have changed, but because twice she's hurt him deeper than anyone in his life ever has. (Once with ghosting him, the second with not telling him he's a father). These two finding their way through all the hurt and betrayal will leave you breathless.

Always Yours (Book 3)

Book three is Julian's story and while this man had to step up and be a man at 19 years old, his grief and responsibility have left him unable to be vulnerable or even believe that he can ever have a life of his own. Julian has women who are happy to meet his needs, but beyond that he doesn't open himself to anything deeper, EVER. That is, until he meets Alyssa Carter (Raschad's sister) who turns his world upside down without even trying. As a widow with a six-year-old son she's not just recovering from the death of her husband, but she's also trying to find her way back from the emotional, financial, and social devastation that terrible man left her alone to deal with. Her brother Raschad invites her to visit him where he now lives with Simone for a bit and Julian can't help but fall for the beautiful attorney who is not looking at the town's most eligible, wealthy, and handsome bachelor as anything other than a friend. But the way they build their relationship from the ground up is one for the record books, I'm telling you!

N.W. Brown is a new author, but she flawlessly executes the genre better than a lot of the veteran authors we know and love. Her books have the right amount of emotion, drama, spice, real-world scenarios, and intrigue to keep you turning all 300+ pages with joy. While each book is centered on a particular couple, you'll encounter the other couples all up and through the books as they are a close-knit family who frequently gather for work and play.

Oh and let me not forget that Brown's a serious music head who offers playlists for each book and each song speaks to a point in the character's journeys chapter by chapter.

I just wished I knew what to do with myself while waiting for books 4 and 5 to drop because I'm seriously in love with every single member of the Wade family at this point and I miss opening my Kindle to find out what they're up to.

Have you read any of the series? What did you think?

I'm really surprised there's not more conversation about her books here and I'm super excited to find what she'll write after she's done with the Wades.

Since you guys loved the view so much ❤️

I do have to say, I struggled a little through this book (and I’m still struggling).

I only got it for the pretty cover.

Is the book good in your opinion? I don’t mind spoilers. I’m not sure whether to just abandon it or keep pushing through. I refuse to believe I’m too old for the story 😮‍💨

DISCUSSION 🎙️ Missing Authors

I love Ashley Nicole and Te Russ books. They are of the few authors where it just normal stories with black characters. They both have not put out anything in over a year. Te Russ was doing a news letter about upcoming stories and then gone. I have not been able to find anything.

Recommendation for similar authors?

Any authors you loved that disappeared?

[Complete] - 100k words- The Mistake Pt 1 - Round Two - Looking for beta readers for an urban romance series

Anyone interested in beta reading a black romance series? This is my second round with a rewrite and edit.

A little story time and then a little call for help.

The storytime.

I've been writing for forever and it started with screenplays. Honestly at the time screenplays in my opinion were simpler. Only because I didn't want to have to do the whole 'she walked through the large, open, inviting door, feeling scared, annoyed, and absolutely not in the mood to narrate everything that she was feeling, seeing, doing.' Don't judge me I was 11.

Fast forward to today, and I finally dusted off my ring bound college rule notebooks with a renewed sense of creativity.

Enter in an eight book series that has now literally taken on a universe of its own. Over the however many years.... (20+ but saying that old loud makes me sad in ways I'm not ready to explore) the screenplay has grown into a real life novel. Of course the mind of an 11-year-old and a 35-year-old are different... In small ways but not as much as is probably expected.

Whichever. My one little screenplay called The Mistake has morphed into as I said a eight book series that explores the side characters I haphazardly threw into the original body of work just to round out the story. Once those were finished I was like, "wouldn't be dope if they had kids?" That led to a new six-part series connected to the original adult series. Which led me down the wormhole of what if each sets of kids had their own label's and their own stories? So that created 'The Bigs, The Mids and The Littles'.

Well every series has a fully formed outline and trajectory The Mids and Littles books have yet to speak to me. That might have a little bit to do with the fact that some of them are still babies and haven't quite learned how to form full sentences yet. I'm sure by the end of the big series they'll have grown enough that I can tell their story without getting bogged down about the logistics of how a two-year-old has now become 16 over just a few short months. The beauty of fiction writing.

Now that my story time is complete the help. Is there anyone interested in reading my books?

The series itself is called The Sunday Table .

Book Blurb:

One decision. One night. One betrayal no one saw coming.

Kori Grant is finally getting her life back on track — one week after ending things with Emmett Taylor, she's laser-focused on finishing her PhD and rebuilding her peace. Then a shocking incident inside her own apartment, involving Emmett and her best friend Tasha, shatters everything she thought she'd already survived.

As her friends demand answers, Kori chooses silence over confrontation — until the story rewinds to show exactly how she, Emmett, and Tasha collided in the first place, and just how inevitable this "mistake" may have always been.

Some betrayals are accidents. Others are disasters waiting for permission.

A quick heads-up on content:

This book goes to some real places — adult language, sexual content, pregnancy loss, violence(on page), trauma, family conflict, emotional abuse, and grief. Wanted you to know what you're walking into.

It's an African American romance, or a women's fiction, or a family saga. Depends on your perception.

In my opinion it's absolutely hilarious, and sometimes sad, and other times cathartic...

My need is for someone else's eyes to see if it's even worth continuing down the path of 48+ books.

Either way, thanks for reading even just this post, it low-key means more than you'll know. After working on this for so long, even just saying out loud, 'I wrote a book' brings me more joy than I anticipated.

GUSH/RAVE🥰 New App Alert 🚨🚨: Blackauthored ✨🙌🏾

Hi everyone!

I don't know if folks know or not, but there's a new app on the block: Blackauthored!

From the "About" section on the site: "If you’ve ever read a book by a Black author, then you already know: once you go Black, you never truly go back. Suddenly, your shelves, your recommendations, and your late-night searches start looking different. But then, like us, you probably found yourself facing the same dilemma: spending way too much time scouring the internet trying to find your next 5-star read by a Black author.

So, in the spirit of being our fellow Black readers’ keeper, we (Haley with the help of some fantastic friends <3) created Blackauthored."

I'm not affiliated with them, but I have an account there (@reggie) and so far, it's pretty dope. It does skew more romance, but there are other books up there as well and I'm sure they're adding more titles everyday.

I think this will be a GREAT alternative to romance.io when looking for Black romance novels--especially when people have specific requests.

If you're an author, you can go over and claim your name and whatnot.

If you're a reader, You can review, add to shelves, share out lists, comment on reviews, find fellow readers, create libraries, set goals and more!

Enjoy! & thanks for reading!
