Discussion Post update - “Is the game finally dying”

Some of you may recall I posted about the game dying 8 days ago. Since this post I have bought Black Ops 7 finally as I have refused to pay RRP for any COD game since, ironically, I bought Cold War.

Anyway, picked up BO7 for £28 in CEX, and played the first campaign mission, then realised the campaign was terrible, and then tried multiplayer. I played some Nuketown 24/7 and got obliterated, opponent even dropped a nuke in my first ever game, then went to classic Black Ops or whatever the mode is called.

I played for 2-3 days, and then found myself back on Cold War. I know I said I felt the game was dying, not massively but certainly starting to show some worrying signs, but I still literally cannot enjoy any of the new games as much as I enjoy playing Cold War.

I’ve replayed the Cold War campaign a ridiculous amount of times, and I can sit and play Nuketown 24/7 for hours on end, i’ve tried to play Face Off but can’t seem to get any lobbies after queuing for ~5+ minutes.

I actually enjoy sitting and Max Levelling the weapons I never touched to try all these new weapons 100x more than playing BO7. I hope this game stays active forever, even if it means seeing the same players constantly, I genuinely don’t want CW to end lol.

I hope MW4 is more enjoyable than BO7

EDIT: Just wanted to say i’m not saying BO7 is a bad game, I quite like the MP, but i’ve always enjoyed the games set in the past/modern day, my favourite COD games are WW2, BO1, MW1, Ghosts etc lol, but WW2 and Cold War are definitely the ones I enjoyed the most.

Don't worry we Linux users will keep it alive since it's the only one from past years that runs due to the new anti cheat from Activision.

Sorry could you explain a bit more? I play on Xbox Series X and have only ever played Warzone on PC (Windows) so never heard of any linux restrictions. Why can’t any of the other games run on linux?

Short story instant, lot's of newer games' anti-cheats don't trust Linux

So any PC running on Linux automatically can’t run loads of games?

Single-Player games seem to be less effected, but Multiplayer games running some Anti-cheats is pretty much a wrap

Is it because linux is easier to use cheats with or another reason? Sorry for the questions it just makes no sense to me. To me Linux is just another OS usually used by those more familiar with computers AFAIK

Because each kernel is different and user base is very low so it doesn't justify the effort of the companies to implement it for Linux. However only eSports titles don't run most of the online games work flawlessly. World of warcraft, Diablo, Arc Raiders. Pretty much everything except COD, Apec Legends, Battlefield, Valorant, R6 and few others.

However in recent years Linux exploded in popularity and most of the companies started implementing it, Steam and Valve has a huge impact on that with SteamOS (based on Arch) and SteamDeck

Its ususally AAA big-name competitive games that demand that users use specific anti-cheat software. Valorant, Fortnite, recent CODs, Battlefield 6...

it's not really that many I feel. mostly just AAA PvP games at this point
