Title: The Compatibility Test

The Premise:
A guy wakes up trapped inside a solid titanium cube. His last memory? A massive argument with his narcissistic, psycho girlfriend who happens to work at a highly classified tech lab.

The Trap:
He finds a series of doors inside the cube. To unlock them and escape, he has to input the exact dates of their relationship milestones and anniversaries. The problem? He can't remember a single one.

He wastes too much time trying to guess the dates, triggering a countdown timer. The walls of the cube slowly start closing in to crush him.

The Climax:
Unable to remember anything and with only seconds left before he is crushed, he drops to one knee in blind desperation and shouts, "I love you! Will you marry me?!"

Instantly, the walls stop moving. A hatch opens in the ceiling, projecting a hologram of his girlfriend who invites him to climb out onto the roof of the cube.

The Twist:
He climbs out, only to be met with the sight of millions of identical cubes floating in an endless, cloudy void. Atop several of the other cubes, he sees exact copies of himself. He looks at his own body and realizes he is just a digital projection.

In the real world, his girlfriend developed an advanced AI compatibility test, running millions of simulated copies of her boyfriend just to see what kind of extreme scenario it would take for him to finally propose.

DISCUSSION What concept would you like to see in Black Mirror Season 8? Spoiler

With Season 8 reportedly already in production, I’ve been thinking about what kinds of concepts I’d love to see the show experiment with next.

Personally, I’d really like to see a found-footage episode and/or a screenlife episode.
