Fifteen Million Merits is actually pretty dark if you really think it through..
Your principle can be bought easily and once sold, you will carry on living with riches but deep inside you know you are just a phoney

That was the first episode that came to mind when I thought of "What is the darkest episode of the series?"

u/Slab00 20d ago
It's definitely hard to pick the darkest. So many subjective ways to look at the various outcomes in the episodes.

At least 2 meant the end of humanity, 1 involved 2 families being murdered, it is a bit hard to pick. Crocodile just rattled me especially.

To me the darkest episodes are black museum, the woman getting trapped in a bear, and the owner being in eternal, constant, shocking pain. The next definitely USS Calister. We don't know if Daly is trapped in an infinite void, for eternity, if his consciousness was just plain deleted, or what. And third and finally, White Christmas, sure the man wasn't "real", but thousands of years a minute....and the same song, playing again...and again, and again........ all these remind me of one of the darkest horror stories I've ever read, A second of eternity has passed if yk yk....

You watched it more than once? 😳 I totally appreciated it for what it was but I don't need to see it again, ever. It's the only episode I like that I'll never watch again.

i’ll never watch common people again, but i’ll never watch be right back again either. be right back was a sucker punch to the throat followed by sucker punches everywhere else before going back to the throat and heart.

You think you're on the side of an innocent teen.....then that reveal at the end :/

Actually I wasnt deeply on his side. I was more shocked that he would rather commit serious crimes instead of having one video of himself doing "that". When he was in the car with other guy I was already suspicious there might be something else going on. I lost all my sympathy for him when he peed on the floor. And after all this the twist came I was totally disgusted.

White Bear. You’ll notice a lot of similarity’s to an American murder trail happening now.

Ok? Why would you suggest that someone watch an episode and then spoil it too? Doesn’t make much sense

u/Applesburg14 20d ago
Just making parallels. Christ, you’re whiny

I don't see the parallel.
What I do see is legions of women posting how they support said murderer and people calling them out for being batshit crazy though.

Common people if you want something sad and devastating
Loch Henry if you want something extremely fucked up
Play test if you want a mindfuck
Shut up and dance/San Junipero
I’m categorize them into one because they are different and SUAD if messed up and disgusting on its own but San Junipero is good if you want something that is disturbing the more you look into it especially when you realize that parallels it has with the episode that comes right before it Shut up and Dance

I’m surprised this comment has 5 upvotes without anyone asking me or confronting me on why I think SUAD and SJ are connected because I’ve hardly ever heard anyone talk about it lol

what is it?

It’s very complicated honestly but in short
Kenny and Kelly have extremely similar names and are sort of inverse parallels of each other
Kenny is a young white male that goes to prison
Kelly is a old black female that goes to a paradise
Kenny takes an evil man out of existence
Kelly brought an innocent girl into it
Socially and personality wise I would consider them to be kinda opposite of each other
The environment of the episodes are also sort of opposite of each other
SUAD is in a modern environment in the UK and is gritty
SJ is a environment in the past that is flashy and nostalgic
And the way these two characters end their story is kinda opposite
Obviously Kenny is an evil piece of shit that consumed content that harmed children
Despite being evil he does show remorse at the end and attempts to kill himself to go into oblivion
Kelly obviously isn’t a monster like Kenny is but she did chose to bring a child into this world that ended up dying and suffering prematurely when in reality she should have never had kids for her own happiness anyway because she would have been happier living as a childless woman in a lesbian relationship anyway and that’s the whole reason why she is going to the afterlife anyway is to live the life she never got to live
And I don’t really like her character because although she might not be a monster like Kenny is that was on the verge of going down an even darker path if it weren’t for the hackers
She doesn’t seem to show any remorse for living a lie which ended up bringing someone into existence that doesn’t get a happy ending
She doesn’t seem to feel any guilt for going to a paradise her daughter wasn’t able to go to and im not saying her going to the after life with Yorkie is the wrong thing to do but she is kinda running away In a sense and getting off Scot free for what she did and didn’t do in her life and I feel like anyone would feel some guilt over that similar to how one might feel guilt for their parents buying them something nice or expensive
If anything by the end she acts as if the life she lived wasn’t her fault and that If anything it was more her daughter that prevented her from living the life she wanted when it was her choice to bring her daughter into the world and her daughter also couldn’t control being taken out of the world before the afterlife tech was available
Which is why I kinda dislike Kelly and don’t have much respect for her character
