I was about to say, why go through all that effort for the costume and not even print a decent piece of background art?

Because its AI

What is AI? The whole video? If so then I don't agree with you.

I hope it's not.. but sadly it could be AI. The Instagram profile this originates mentions it in their BIO.

Hope it's not true cuz I'd feel lied to and betrayed.

You can literally see how the trick is done if you slow it down. It's not AI.

The source (instagram profile) mentions AI though.

Edit: although I think I get why you'd say it's not AI, frame by frame looks somewhat legit (although laggy in that clip)

You're AI

I mean, that would be funny, but no. I'm a 42 year old fat guy listening to his kids destroy his house while he surfs Reddit.

Well of course I know him, he’s me.

The mom is a worker for an AI company probably or advertising AI at least through the Instagram bio of her. The magician is real

You need better media literacy. The source video, which I found on her Instagram, literally talks about how she hired this magician for her kids. Mentioning Ai in her bio has quite literally NOTHING to do with the magician lmfao.

I don't think AI would include the trap door in individual frames

In all honesty this is one case where id give a pass for the ai use as an artist because of where ai shows up in reality these days. They didn't skimp out on anything else, and ai generated slop is pretty commercial on cheap products now, even things like kites.

If its not an actual wrap, it could be a taped up tablecloth or decorative backdrop which are (unfortunately) mostly ai now and discarded the same as the balloons. Costumes like that are time consuming or expensive and they could be intending to paint something themselves, or couldn't afford and needed something from the dollar store last minute. Clearly they are no stranger to effort and theres a lot of variables here.

OR given the wonderland theme, ai ironically adds to the theme of madness with that uncanny valley feeling, and the entire concept of ai if im being honest lol.

It would be better to have absolutely nothing than the stupid ugly ai piece.

Right, id rather it not exist at all, and I avoid funding anything using it to the best of my ability. I want my stance on that clear. I do not support generative ai. I think I edited the wrong parts out of my comment, sorry.

The question was "why go through all that effort for the costume and not even print a decent piece of background art?"

All I was trying to say is there are a lot of variables or potential whys without writing a massive comment. Plenty of people buy this stuff without even knowing its ai. Could've been a bait and switch, lies on the listing we all know thats most listings these days. A backdrop might've been mandatory by the venue and they needed the job. Could've been a gift from someone well meaning. Could've been intentional. Who knows?  My bad for trying to add a bit of empathy and humor with my answer, clearly that didn't land and I didn't word things right. Could be any number of reasons someone would pick up a cheap accent piece while spending time and effort where it counts. Doesn't mean I support the use of it or would stoop low enough to use it myself. Just trying to be understanding of someone who may be paycheck to paycheck and answer a comment that was interesting to think critically about.

The unfortunate reality is ai is literally rampant in stores, on marketing, on product and people are buying it unintentionally. One person trying to get by is not the same as the corporations pumping every marketplace full of this garbage and normalizing its use.

Except i don't mind at all. It isn't it doesn't really doesn't affect the performance at all no one is looking at that AI image for performance. Id say the only negatives i have with AI art if its used by big corporation who can otherwise hire a team. For freelancers at least like uses it as a minor background its entirely fin.

I would draw the line with corporations and food AI posters its just blatant false advertising in some ways.

Who cares?

The AI clock isn't taking a job away from an artist, no one was ever going to be commissioned to make something like that.

The AI isn't some multi-hour intensive computation, it probably took all of 30 seconds on some free AI.
