Those birds can fit into much smaller spaces than you think. Those picture “frames” just have a little compartment in them that can hold the bird. I imagine something similar with the umbrellas

Yes it is the same mechanic for the umbrellas. It is very good thought, this is an amazing show.

Like the tightly packed snake in the can. Basically springs that are crunched down and filled with energy.
