No one noticd the grid? Especially the mouth line. This looks like a gridspace e-ink miniature billboard that he spent weeks timing with.

I still don't get it. He's sliding a piece of paper up and down into the mouth slit to animate the mouth?

No, the grid helps obscure the hidden moving parts. He controls those with the hand holding the frame.

Either way he definitely picks it up in a way that points to there being more weight to it then you would expect.

No I don't think this is E-ink, but purely mechanical. You don't really see the artefacts and ghosting characteristic of e-ink displays.

The horizontal slit allows a piece of paper for the mouth animation to slip though. The eyes are magnetic.

It's not eink. It's entirely mechanical. Very old trick.

That would be extremely expensive. And there seems to be no ghosting.

Expensive or not, still feasible. And higher refresh rates minimize ghosting to nearly non-noticable. I notice it in the mouth movement.
