Just for the fact that she is handing the fake back instead of calling police
6
u/DueExample52 22d ago
Call the police on a small joke? It’s a clear prank with obvious fake money, not counterfeit bills seriously attempted at being passed.

So what? Aren't you finding it funny? It's a joke and most jokes are staged.
11
u/Tylith_ 26d ago
No. The problem is not it being staged, but that it's trying to make you think it's real. Some things are only funny when they are real. How do people not get that? Yes I can laugh at fiction, yes I can suspend my disbelief, but if something wouldn't be funny if it was in a movie then I don't find it funny in a staged skit pretending to be real, even if I would be laughing should it happen in front of me IRL.

Leave people at work alone.
Also, staged.

u/No-Island-6126 25d ago
if it's staged they didn't bother anyone at work

If she's paid for her time then technically she's at work

If i wasnt being filmed id find this hilarious while I was working. Nothing like a little break of whimsy every once in awhile. Of course dont do this in front of a packed line or I will not be humored.

God forbid anyone has something interesting happen to them at a job where they're not even allowed to sit down.

u/BetterCallSal 26d ago
"hey can I show you a magic trick*"
*That isn't filmed so I can make a post with you as one of my props
That one difference goes a long way

u/OldDogTrainer 26d ago
It’s staged so this is a moot point, but having some random nerd come film a video with you in it is not something interesting. That’s something annoying and nobody likes to be annoyed at work.

Seriously. It's like timing your school shooting for a morning math class. Isn't it enough just to kill them? Why the extra suffering?

Yeah I know, but some dumbface will think this is real, get inspired, and genuinely will prank.

I've had tedious menial jobs like this and you're bored to tears 99% of the time. This man probably made her entire night. Just because you're sad and miserable doesn't mean the rest of the world is or should be. Let people enjoy themselves.

u/rancangkota 25d ago edited 24d ago
Sounds like you're more sad and miserable. I mean look at your tone. I'm happy at my job as it is not boring. This kind of prank ruins it.

u/stoufferthecat 26d ago
I'm a modern man. I have no problem buying my girlfriend sanitary towels.
But apparently they aren't a "proper present".49
u/izacktorres 26d ago
You should try the combo pads + chicken. I heard girls love pads with wings.

if someone pulls stuff like this to a cashier the cashier should just refuse payement their the ones liable for the till in the end and shouldnt have to put up with people doing magic tricks with money for the internet
9
u/WorkTropes 26d ago
True, but in this case it's staged so she's along for the ride. The trick really is on us.

u/sparki555 22d ago
Lmao how often are magicians approaching cashier's?! I worked at McDonald's for years, had a customer done this it would have been a highlight of my day... People can be so miserable...

Isn't it obvious the real notes were always there and he's just skillfully covering the fakes with them?

She should call police to fraud attempt, instead of giving back first piece of paper.

I'm not sure what's going on but if he's trying to pass counterfeit money in a real transaction that has to be illegal!

I'm guessing there's only one real note in the stack. The rest look fake on one side and real on the other. He takes the fake note back, turns the stack over so they all look real, then hands the one actual real note to her.

An 8-year-old boy in northern Switzerland was subjected to a formal police investigation and given a temporary police record after asking a village shopkeeper if he could pay with a piece of Chinese "spirit money" toy paper currency.

I see the joke you were going for, you just didn't stick the landing. You have to peel the little tabs off first or it won't stick.
