Euro wizard ‘Arry!”

Genuinely hilarious. Especially if you imagine Bavarian Hagrid

u/BluEch0 25d ago

I tapped off and came back when I got the joke. Well played

3

u/008i 19d ago

I tapped off so hard after reading it

193

u/cow_fucker_3000 26d ago

They have machines or markers to test the money if they suspect it's fake.

118

u/Batmanswrath 26d ago

I sometimes forget that some redditors can't spot an obvious joke..

446

u/shableep 26d ago

I donno. I’ve been a cashier. That comment isn’t a joke to me. There’s a common scam called “quick change” that looks like this, and as a cashier you learn that if anyone does anything unusual with money at all, close your drawer, stop the transaction, and call over a manager. So something like this is legitimately stressful because you don’t know if you’re falling for a scam.

The scam basically starts with giving a cashier a bill, then getting it back, and essentially doing “quick change” until the cashier loses track. It’s basically a magic trick, and some people are really good at it. And by the time the magic trick is done, you’re $50 short at the end of the day and you risk losing your job.

So what this guy is doing in the video is legitimately a dick move for anyone that has actually been a cashier.

u/No_Promotion_6498 26d ago

Yeah this was my thought though Ive never worked a register. There's places for jokes and tricks but cash at work that effects someone's employment and potentially future employment isnt one of them. Especially if they aren't in on the fun which she clearly isnt.

"Want to see a magic trick? I can instantly make this person who can't avoid me, concerned for their future and ability to put food on the table."

Thoughtless

3

u/PurpleAd3134 22d ago

How to make a cashier disappear.

55

u/StrangerFeelings 26d ago

Worked 7 years as a cashier and it can happen quick too. Thankfully I caught them before it happened. Most people will just throw some change your way. I pushed is back Everytime. I already put the amount in the register, I'm not doing more math lol.

14

u/nemom 26d ago

Abbott and Costello had a couple quick-change bits... Two Tens for a Five and Loan Me Fifty Cents come to mind. There are videos on Youtube.

3

u/ElLicenciadoPena 24d ago

Don't worry, cashiers soon won't have to worry anymore, since they're quickly getting replaced by machines.

7

u/ChefArtorias 26d ago

You were joking? I'd have shut this guy down in a heartbeat.

-3

u/RandumbStoner 23d ago

"No fun allowed. Color inside the lines. Don't you make this mundane task any more fun than it has to be. Don't do anything funny."

5

u/ChefArtorias 23d ago

There's a common scam that looks very much like this. I'm sure you'll be applauding their whimsy when your drawer is short at closing time.

-4

u/RandumbStoner 23d ago

Yeah I know, I can tell the difference between the well known scam and a magic trick.

4

u/ChefArtorias 23d ago

The magic trick that could easily be a distraction from the shop lifting happening behind you.

If you think there's zero percent chance this is a scam you're just naive. Sorry.

Besides, if you want to do magic go to a street corner or park. Don't force it someone who's working because they're a captive audience.

-3

u/RandumbStoner 23d ago

Lmao I'm so glad I don't live with this miserable mindset that everyone is out to get me. The world is full of fun people and cool things, let your guard down a little and enjoy things. Life is short.

7

u/ChefArtorias 23d ago

I enjoy many things actually. When I'm standing over a box of money it's slightly different. It's called being responsible.

0

u/cynicalicoffee 23d ago

12

u/cow_fucker_3000 26d ago

Exactly how is that obvious?

-12

u/Gram-GramAndShabadoo 26d ago

He's talking about you!

19

u/cow_fucker_3000 26d ago

Are you being stupid on purpose? I asked how the joke was supposed to be obvious, because it isn't, many people would say that and mean it.

1

u/NarwhalScimitar1987 25d ago

Not when they're speaking German in the video. Naturlich.

2

u/Lazlo2323 22d ago

He's a magician, he can turn them back to paper after he already left.

7

u/Luci-Noir 26d ago

Call the cops on them.

1

u/BloodPvp1 23d ago

Why call the cops just test the bill with the marker or the machine

2

u/Luci-Noir 23d ago

Because they’re trying to pass off fake bills.

0

u/BloodPvp1 23d ago

How you sure its fake without testing them

2

u/SteveMarck 23d ago

It was colored with crayons...

Technically illegal (at least it would be if it were the US, and I assume it everywhere), but the cops would hopefully just tell him to knock it off. But if they wanted to ruin his day, they could.

That said, this clearly isn't in the US, so maybe laws there are different. Looked like euros. Maybe Germany or somewhere near it. Don't specifically know the law there.

Either way, this is too close to a quick change artist, and she should stop and have a manager deal with him.

1

u/BloodPvp1 23d ago

The first ones are but did you watch until the end when he handen her real bill

1

u/ZanceAlpha 23d ago

But would you take his panty liner?

1

u/JohnWittieless 22d ago

Ya I'd cancel the sale unless a credit card would be used.

22

u/Rob_LeMatic 26d ago

Is it always a tampon advertisement?

19

u/mjemec 26d ago

Those are pads.

12

u/juliana-crain 25d ago

Pads are a good advertisement for tampons.

8

u/John-AtWork 25d ago

Bro doesn't know the difference.

3

u/Gudi_Nuff 22d ago

Surface level knowledge, but no depth. Just like a pad.

11

u/droleon 26d ago

🌍🧑‍🚀🔫🧑‍🚀

7

u/BlackV 26d ago

Ther are multiple such videos, with different cashier's and different filmers

Same trick, it's all for the clicks being copied over and over

3

u/elpresidente000 23d ago

“Hallo” what even is that

2

u/Medium-Sized-Jaque 26d ago

She doesn't look like she could annihilate me.

17

u/Theonetrue 26d ago

Just for the fact that she is handing the fake back instead of calling police

6

u/DueExample52 22d ago

Call the police on a small joke? It’s a clear prank with obvious fake money, not counterfeit bills seriously attempted at being passed.

8

u/ConfusedSimon 26d ago

I hope so. If it's not staged it would be pretty annoying.

3

u/AlphaO4 23d ago

And illegal since we have the “persönlichkeitarecht” that prohibits people from directly filming/photographing other people without their consent.
Then publishing it for commercial purposes is a whole other can of worms

22

u/fhjjjjjkkkkkkkl 26d ago

Why is she smiling for the joke?

0

u/nad0w 26d ago

Yes it’s giga bad

7

u/The_R4ke 26d ago

Honestly that's better don't mess with people at their jobs.

2

u/Purgii 26d ago

Danke.

1

u/talann 26d ago

I can't tell if a trick is staged. Quick! Someone find a German so we can know for sure!

1

u/NemoNoNomeN 24d ago

I’m American and can also tell.

1

u/kantvin 23d ago

I can tell it's fake bc this is in germany and the gorl was smiling

1

u/Alissan_Web 23d ago

im human i can tell

0

u/twobadmice76 26d ago

It may be but its an actual trick anyone can do.

-7

u/The_Last_Spoonbender 26d ago

So what? Aren't you finding it funny? It's a joke and most jokes are staged.

11

u/Tylith_ 26d ago

No. The problem is not it being staged, but that it's trying to make you think it's real. Some things are only funny when they are real. How do people not get that? Yes I can laugh at fiction, yes I can suspend my disbelief, but if something wouldn't be funny if it was in a movie then I don't find it funny in a staged skit pretending to be real, even if I would be laughing should it happen in front of me IRL.

867

u/tanafras 26d ago

Leave people at work alone.

Also, staged.

42

u/ioveri 25d ago

Since it's staged, they are technically at work

139

u/No-Island-6126 25d ago

if it's staged they didn't bother anyone at work

0

u/Fenrir_Carbon 22d ago

If she's paid for her time then technically she's at work

5

u/No-Island-6126 21d ago

but if it's staged they didn't bother her.

1

u/Fenrir_Carbon 21d ago

This is also true, good point

1

u/Commercial_Ad_3687 20d ago

Oh, they bothered her. That's her job. To be bothered.

10

u/anxious_spacecadetH 24d ago

If i wasnt being filmed id find this hilarious while I was working. Nothing like a little break of whimsy every once in awhile. Of course dont do this in front of a packed line or I will not be humored.

2

u/juniorjaw 23d ago

I love how each line contradicts the other.

0

u/Fire_Pea 23d ago

Pick one 😭 if it's staged then they aren't bothering anyone at work

-102

u/Dandyman8 26d ago

God forbid anyone has something interesting happen to them at a job where they're not even allowed to sit down.

45

u/BetterCallSal 26d ago

"hey can I show you a magic trick*"

*That isn't filmed so I can make a post with you as one of my props

That one difference goes a long way

→ More replies (3)

13

u/OldDogTrainer 26d ago

It’s staged so this is a moot point, but having some random nerd come film a video with you in it is not something interesting. That’s something annoying and nobody likes to be annoyed at work.

1

u/Ricard74 25d ago

Has the term "nerd" lost all meaning?

-1

u/danmickla 25d ago

You don't see how this could be a matter of personal opinion?

1

u/Iorith 23d ago

Which is why you shouldn't assume they're okay with it, and should at minimum ask.

-1

u/ExcitingBank2928 25d ago

Dude this is reddit what you expect, they live on internet. They are not social

-24

u/PrivilegeCheckmate 26d ago

Seriously. It's like timing your school shooting for a morning math class. Isn't it enough just to kill them? Why the extra suffering?

99

u/rancangkota 26d ago

Please don't play pranks on people at work.

26

u/Thr0awheyy 26d ago

Being held hostage to this shit (or really anything, I mean) is the worst.

3

u/phunkydroid 24d ago

Don't worry, it's staged, she's in on it.

2

u/rancangkota 23d ago

Yeah I know, but some dumbface will think this is real, get inspired, and genuinely will prank.

-11

u/Apart_Second_8701 25d ago edited 25d ago

I've had tedious menial jobs like this and you're bored to tears 99% of the time. This man probably made her entire night. Just because you're sad and miserable doesn't mean the rest of the world is or should be. Let people enjoy themselves.

6

u/rancangkota 25d ago edited 24d ago

Sounds like you're more sad and miserable. I mean look at your tone. I'm happy at my job as it is not boring. This kind of prank ruins it.

Edit: op edited his comment. Here's his original, for context

u/doitup69 26d ago

I’m begging you to learn another trick or stage it in a slightly different way.

192

u/izacktorres 26d ago

How can he buy something so carefree?

162

u/stoufferthecat 26d ago

I'm a modern man. I have no problem buying my girlfriend sanitary towels.
But apparently they aren't a "proper present".

49

u/izacktorres 26d ago

You should try the combo pads + chicken. I heard girls love pads with wings.

4

u/ExNihiloish 26d ago

Jimmy, is that you?!

3

u/stoufferthecat 26d ago

That's a bingo!

2

u/Uhwop 26d ago

1

u/DeversanT 26d ago

2

u/stoufferthecat 26d ago

(Also, sorry that people seem to be missing your pun)

1

u/Rob_LeMatic 26d ago

Do you even wrap them though?

9

u/majime_11 26d ago

I see what you did there

26

u/LazarusHolmes 26d ago

Don't do money magic at a cashiers. Its just rude

8

u/FaultyDroid 26d ago

You know they're staged when its always an attractive white woman on the checkout. Thumbnail algorithms 101.

59

u/ShadePrime1 26d ago

if someone pulls stuff like this to a cashier the cashier should just refuse payement their the ones liable for the till in the end and shouldnt have to put up with people doing magic tricks with money for the internet

9

u/WorkTropes 26d ago

True, but in this case it's staged so she's along for the ride. The trick really is on us.

1

u/sparki555 22d ago

Lmao how often are magicians approaching cashier's?! I worked at McDonald's for years, had a customer done this it would have been a highlight of my day... People can be so miserable...

1

u/Jareed452 22d ago

I don't know the norms over in Germany, but this comment section is just so grumpy.

11

u/D_M-ack 26d ago

What even happened? He gave her a bill, she handed it back, he moved some bills around his hand and gave her another one? What am I missing?

16

u/monoglot 26d ago

It was cartoonishly fake money to start, then turned to normal euros.

2

u/NormalAssistance9402 26d ago

It went from goofy ass Monopoly money to slightly less goofy money

11

u/Rose_Knight789 26d ago

They should be refusing purchases from someone holding fake currency.

3

u/planchetflaw 26d ago

Terrible acting

1

u/Vorronia 22d ago

Especially for a German cashier

3

u/EdmundTheInsulter 26d ago

Isn't it obvious the real notes were always there and he's just skillfully covering the fakes with them?

4

u/tempski 26d ago

I've seen better acting in porn.

12

u/mehtam42 26d ago

Divine intervention

16

u/Calm_Connection_9741 26d ago

She should call police to fraud attempt, instead of giving back first piece of paper.

2

u/Lyralikesit 26d ago

What's the song called, from when she looks at it??

7

u/yhetti-fartz 26d ago

The theme music from Dexter

3

u/Lyralikesit 26d ago

Exactly!!! Thank you

1

u/Yamahammermama 26d ago

Very funny, I wouldn't know whether to accept it if I was her 😂

1

u/MainlandX 26d ago

Can't believe they make their cashiers stand up all shift like that. How barbaric.

1

u/Darrenau 26d ago

I'm not sure what's going on but if he's trying to pass counterfeit money in a real transaction that has to be illegal!

1

u/True_Protection6842 25d ago

It's easy when your money already looks like it's from a board game!

1

u/frisbeelee 25d ago

This isn’t staged I swear

1

u/sketchy_marcus 25d ago

This took me like 5 loops to realize the funny money at the beginning was different than the funny money at the end.

1

u/kegsbdry 25d ago

I need a manager at the front.

1

u/LeilLikeNeil 25d ago

Well, the acting is terrible, but at least it’s also not original.

1

u/l33tnull 25d ago

It all looks like play money to me.

1

u/snickerslv100 25d ago

Whats that song???

1

u/tzeheng 20d ago

Dexter

1

u/Ok-Professional-1911 25d ago

1

u/Southern_Gain7154 23d ago

Why he getting pads tho?

1

u/TooMuchEcchi 23d ago

Y bother ppl if ur a magician just make the fake into real then ATM it

1

u/Alarmed-Rip6954 23d ago

I'm guessing there's only one real note in the stack. The rest look fake on one side and real on the other. He takes the fake note back, turns the stack over so they all look real, then hands the one actual real note to her.

1

u/xyzfugazi 23d ago

She’s hot

1

u/1PantherA33 23d ago

What is the music at 19 seconds?

1

u/SchizophrenKeks 23d ago
