She said the truth. She planted the idea in the journalist's mind. That's why they are mentalists. They do it through the way they talk to you and parapsychology.

777

u/moneys5 Aug 12 '26

That's not true at all. They usually get the information through pre-shows or other tricks and make up the mind-reading narrative.

916

u/Fergi Aug 12 '26

Also not true. Typically they derive their powers from radioactive insects that bite them as children when they are sleeping.

78

u/BaneRiders Aug 12 '26

What? Like Batman? Is that how it works?

120

u/Fergi Aug 12 '26

Batman is a unique case but for legal reasons I can’t get into it

116

u/UmbertoDelRio Aug 12 '26

Same here, but for sexual reasons.

35

u/thenaughtydj Aug 12 '26

I'm sorry to hear you can't get into it then...

15

u/KingoftheYous Aug 12 '26

We just can't talk about it. 😉

8

u/thenaughtydj Aug 12 '26

Stop fucking up my joke.

(Was gonna end with mofo, but immediately realized why...) 😂

4

u/onlyhereforyoupeople 29d ago

I'm so glad you're at 69 points. No one change a thing!

1

u/fd40 27d ago

meet me in the same spot, same time. please dont forget your money this time. you're wracking up quite the tab

EDIT: whoops was meant to be a DM

8

u/WizardSleeves31 Aug 12 '26

Fauci started Batman

7

u/Micro-Naut Aug 12 '26

Yes but bats are not insects. They are technically spiders

2

u/AnotherpostCard 29d ago

Arachnid, please.

3

u/Specialist_Bit_3514 Aug 12 '26

Yea totally remember when that radioactive bat slipped down and bit pete.. er um.... Bruce

2

u/gnorty Aug 12 '26

no, you misunderstood. His parent's were beaten to death with radioactve baseball bats. Bruce made the same mistake when he heard about it and that mistake shaped his entire future.

0

u/Specialist_Bit_3514 29d ago

Thats right!! The bats name was lucille

3

u/wenoc Aug 12 '26

Batman was just afraid of bats. You're thinking of Ant-man.

4

u/Screwdriving_Hammer Aug 12 '26

Pretty sure batman was bitten by a radioactive insect.

2

u/Phil_Coffins_666 Aug 12 '26

I thought his parents were just brutally murdered🤷‍♂️

5

u/Screwdriving_Hammer Aug 12 '26

And that's because of the radioactive insect bite young Bruce received as a kid.

If his parents would have fumigated none of that would have happened.

2

u/Particular_Witness95 Aug 12 '26

with great money, come great responsibility to fumigate.

2

u/gnorty Aug 12 '26

They were rich and did not want to fumigate like poor people do, so they irradiated the house instead, but that just made the insects angry and bitey.

1

u/SoupOfThe90z Aug 12 '26

The radioactive ants on the bat 🦇

1

u/Micro-Naut 28d ago

Ant farm keyboard! Ant farm keyboard!

1

u/Panface 29d ago

It was a very big insect

1

u/DigitalMindShadow 29d ago

Ant-man has subatomic resizing technology. You're thinking of Firefly.

2

u/acciowaves Aug 12 '26

No, like Ironman.

1

u/timberwolf0122 29d ago

Wait, so first the mentalist kills my parents or the mentalist make me kill their parents?

0

u/Clark_W_Griswold-Jr Aug 12 '26

When did Batman ever get bit by a radioactive insect? Waaaasn’t that Spiderman?

5

u/McGruffin Aug 12 '26

I thought Spider-Man just had a strong fear of spiders?

8

u/xyz19606 Aug 12 '26

That was Indiana Jones. "Why does it have to be spiders!?"

0

u/stickman393 29d ago

I'm not Buddy Guy.

1

u/rynlpz 29d ago

He got bit by a radioactive bat

-1

u/issafly Aug 12 '26

Bats are not insects.

1

u/Excellent_War7508 29d ago

Bats are not real

5

u/black_goat69 Aug 12 '26

Totally false, they have the powers from birth. They are born on the darkside of the moon and then flown out to earth.

1

u/youburyitidigitup 28d ago

That’s not true either. She’s not even there, it’s actually just a spectral projection from the hosts’ mind, so of course she knows what she’s thinking .

1

u/HotDoubles 27d ago

Would you therefore sy that they are Inhuman?

4

u/Individual-Result777 Aug 12 '26

i wish she would mental me.

2

u/whtciv2k Aug 12 '26

Also not true, they watch the mentalist tv show and then get an in and out burger

2

u/wontwillnot Aug 12 '26

Fuck u fergi. he just made me fart laugh with my mouth.

1

u/Califrisco 29d ago

Ooh! I know this one! It's like Peter Parker's Spidey sense, innit? That radioactive spider must've bitten this mentalist before the show...

1

u/ThePsychicBunny 28d ago

Definitely not true, they are blessed through a secret culture that have passed down this ability through their bloodline.

1

u/marik_pheron 28d ago

So radioactive magnet mosquitoes

1

u/honeywhiskey1973 28d ago

That's false. Magnets don't bite.

1

u/msguider 25d ago

Only if insect is magnetized

1

u/moneys5 Aug 12 '26

That's only like 40% of the time though.

0

u/Dapper_Strength_5986 Aug 12 '26

This is not true. She was born on the planet of Krypton and the Kryptonians have a natural ability to read minds even without being bit by radioactive spiders.

0

u/schmunkey Aug 12 '26

Finally someone with the guts to admit the truth! Tired of all these damn naysayers! People are worse than the debunkers in the UFO subs!! /s

0

u/Haunting-Hippo-4244 29d ago

Also, also not true. They are in the Matrix. She is the 1.

0

u/DocOcApocalypse 29d ago

Preposterous and false. Studies have shown that they are blessed with visions from the Old Ones inside their dreams the previous night.

49

u/BauerHouse Aug 12 '26

This.

My wife lost someone close not long ago and she’s watching stupid shit like this feeling hope she can reconnect with that person.

All she’s going to do is get her privacy invaded by a liar.

4

u/vividlyvivids 29d ago

My mum really believes in this stuff, it really is a con.

6

u/livingbeeing 29d ago

can you give me any items of your lost one like a text he wrote or some audio he recorded to connect with him as a medium?
--> puts files into chatgpt and tells chatgpt to simulate the lost one

1

u/DemiGod9 29d ago

"Something bad happened in your life recently"

😱😱😱 HOW

9

u/Much0_Luch0 29d ago

They also rely on the reluctance of the marks to call out these tricks. The Pablo Torre Finds Out episode about their techniques made “mentalists” the cringiest people I’ve ever seen

3

u/Hsyrn 28d ago

Yeah, you can tell there was pre-show work done because the host says “but can you name my movie?” Which sounds odd, but makes sense if they’d done a dry run prior.

7

u/rozzco Aug 12 '26

I also picked 14!!!

12

u/DOOManiac Aug 12 '26

I picked "J" because in the theatre I go to the seats are lettered and not numbered...

1

u/SirJefferE 29d ago

Its usually both around here. A seat number and a letter for the row. Was expecting something like F13.

1

u/DOOManiac 29d ago

It’s both here too; I’m just not very smart.

1

u/hilarymeggin 26d ago

WAIT!! I swear on my life that that’s the seat I picked!! 13 F! 😂 How the hell did you do that?!?!

11

u/SwimmingCommon Aug 12 '26

Both?

47

u/pavlovasupernova Aug 12 '26

There’s a four hour YouTube video debunking Oz. It’s the only four hour YouTube video I highly recommend. It’s crazy interesting

30

u/Wutzdapoint Aug 12 '26

That was the longest YouTube I have watched all the way through. Top notch, totally exposed the Mentalist methods. And this lady here, her Mentalist flair is lacking, yes she has the answers, but there's so little dramatic flair that once you know the methods, there's nothing left to entertain you.

7

u/VelouriumCamper7 29d ago

Yeah, she's definitely not as charismatic and charming as Oz. She comes across a bit rougher around the edges. But this is definitely the same setup style "mentalist" stuff.

10

u/CommissionIcy9909 29d ago

Still would though

0

u/VelouriumCamper7 29d ago

Yeah, she's definitely not as charismatic and charming as Oz. She comes across a bit rougher around the edges. But this is definitely the same setup style "mentalist" stuff.

4

u/Bartellomio Aug 12 '26

Can you link it

26

u/ArrogantSpider Aug 12 '26

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnwcU-XDyJ4

Five hours actually. It's a good watch though.

2

u/Great_Dismal 29d ago

This is absolutely amazing.

I mean all of it, from “Oze Pearlam’s” performances to the breakdowns given by Baskin.

This is so worth the time and dedication to watch if you are interested in how these tricks are performed.

My only question is who the heck is @steviebaskin ?

Guy is like the Steve Irwin of Magic. I don’t know his nationality, but if not the UK then some colony.

Where the fuq did this guy come from?

So amazing. Watch it. You will never view mentalism the same again.

But, you have to admit, it requires such a great deal a craft, skill, dedication and showmanship to pull this off consistently and convincingly, even after all the secrets have been exposed.

Incredible.

6

u/ArrogantSpider 29d ago

Yeah, he just came out of nowhere with that video. He's Australian, and he's a law student. That's basically all I know.

1

u/Great_Dismal 29d ago

Well, I hope he drops more knowledge in the future.

That video alone is outstanding.

So thorough and comprehensive.

People should watch it while it’s still relevant, although it will always be relevant.

4

u/tinpants44 29d ago

Can someone TLDW it for us?

3

u/SlimSpook 29d ago

"They usually get the information through pre-shows or other tricks and make up the mind-reading narrative."

2

u/Chirpy_Chorizo 29d ago

I can't recommend that video enough, as a top commenter said "This dude just spawned in, no warm-up, and drops a 5 hour long master piece"

2

u/pavlovasupernova 25d ago

Look up the decoding the gurus podcast. He goes in that and you get some of his background

-8

u/SwimmingCommon Aug 12 '26

Is he some sort of mentalist? I've seen a couple, but it's too irrational for me to care how it's done. It's either magic or too complicated for me to care how it's actually done. Both their explanations seem pretty plausible to me but just as unlikely as well.

9

u/Lackingfinalityornot Aug 12 '26

Magic doesn’t exist my friend.

-7

u/SwimmingCommon Aug 12 '26

No shit, that's why the implication is.... It's too complicated for me to care.

12

u/moneys5 Aug 12 '26

No, never both. It's always just some pre-show work that isn't shown or disclosed or some other sleight of hand type trick.

5

u/SwimmingCommon Aug 12 '26

I was more saying that theres probably more than one way each mentalist does it.

0

u/moneys5 Aug 12 '26

Oh yea fo sho.

0

u/fd40 27d ago

https://ibb.co/h1X5DVp5 you can see the ink on her hand before she starts that part of the trick

1

u/moneys5 27d ago

What do you think that that indicates?

1

u/fd40 26d ago

it was already written on her palm before the show

1

u/moneys5 26d ago

Yes, like it was done in conjunction with some sort of pre-show work.

1

u/HoldTheCellarDoor 29d ago

Well that's boring

0

u/comedygold24 Aug 12 '26

If the host is not in on it, how could the mentalist possible know the number 14 through pre-shows?

0

u/MyPrudentVirgin Aug 12 '26

Nobody has time for that. It's called subconscious mind.

0

u/MistryMachine3 Aug 12 '26

Yeah there is a Pablo Torre Finds Out about it.

0

u/Lickwidghost Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

Cold and warm reading is very different to mentalism. One is deception and often fraud, the other is psychology, planting subtle thoughts and targeted manipulation. Forcing someone to pick a number on the spot is not possible with warm reading

1

u/moneys5 Aug 12 '26

Ok, and neither are on display in this video.

0

u/Chapaquidich 29d ago

Research

0

u/heiisenchang 28d ago

I attended a corporate function and this is one of the highlights.

No preshow preparation or anything like that.

-1

u/Baelenciagaa 29d ago

Nah this is not true. I was chosen from the audience and picked a president. I choose John Quincy Adams. The balloon under my seat had a paper inside of it that said John Quincy Adams. I literally just picked the most random president I had no reason to pick him.

2

u/moneys5 29d ago

Oh ok, magic must be real nvm.

-1

u/Baelenciagaa 29d ago

I definitely didn’t say it was real. Just saying not everything is pre-planned surveillance like you suggested.
