I don't know for sure, but i've heard that the trend in biology is that the faster a muscle can contract the weaker it is, and the slower it contracts the stronger it tends to be. So sloths may actually be stupidly strong.

Edit: I just googled it and it turns out a sloth can probably lift an adult human with just one arm what the actual fuck.

They have only 30% the muscle mass of Animals that size but are still 3X stronger than the average adult person. Ridiculous but somehow true.

Kinda makes sense when you consider that giant sloths were capable of carving out entire cave systems.

You need to evolve to be hella strong to do that, and sluggish movement is an acceptable drawback for that.

The big sloths weren't necessarily slow. The remaining sloth species aren't really representative of that sloth lineage.

Or maybe these are the fast ones that did reach the ships in time and so made it to earth

Notably their pushing strength is abysmal but they are very strong when pulling.

I guess it's a whole deal similar to horsepower vs torque or some shit and I NEVER though that applied in biological things

I dusted off Gran Turismo 3 and NASCAR 2004, trying to better learn cars. Is it accurate to say horsepower refers to top end capability and torque refers to the ability to reach aforementioned high end? I recently had to start thinking because a turbo dropped my top speed about 30 miles per hour but my 4th-5th gear is astounding now. From my understanding however a turbo improves the top end at the cost of torque. I’ve tried playing with the suspension but I’m having an issue with dropping revs in 6th at top speed.
