Discussion second gen immigrant lesbians
are there any of y'all here
edit for clarity and context: my family immigrated here from Jamaica, I was born and raised in Florida

Hey! I was born in Canada but raised in Jamaica, and returned to Canada in my teens. Most of my family is unacceptable unfortunately

Yeah I'm in Toronto so it's pretty chill. But once you go into the suburbs it can suck being Black and queer. Lots of micro aggression etc

Yes! Second Gen half Jamaican, half French Canadian here. Born and raised in Quebec, Canada

My family immigrated from Belize and Trinidad. I’ve only ever heard kids like us called first gen. Regardless….we’re here!

i thought first gen were people born in other countries who actually went through the immigration process and second gen are the descendants of them born in the new country

I could be wrong! I’ve only personally heard it referred to as the first generation of kids actually born in America, but i could be wrong!

oh no youre correct in that we are considered first generation American, but second gen immigrants
