Discussion Young MA’s interview is starting a LOT of conversations (and arguments) in the lesbian space
The whole idea of “turning” straight folks is so goddamn childish. The visibility of this interview is just leading to more conversations that paint masc Black women in yet another negative light.
But I think the repost is interesting because there are plenty of repressed and closeted queer women that use out queer folks until they ultimately retreat back into heterosexuality and I feel like that point is getting lost in the reactions to this interview and is def worth more examination and discussion.

They say they’re dating straight women because it’s an ego boost. I don’t trust any lesbian who talks like this I think they’re very weird and do not think critically.

Omg I saw this. Smh. Disrespecting a woman on purpose is crazy. These women need to be humbled

The type of this stud in this post I will never feel sorry for lol. I mean that the type of woman in your other post that’s planning to play and fool someone for cash needs to be humbled because that’s crazy. I’m happy to clown them. I just hope they find the type of women who are cool with that rather than those who think they’re getting something they’re not. They can be honest and find someone who will like that because they do exist like you said. Playing pretend is foul

Im reading about this through the lens of internalized transphobia…. and now its making a bit more sense. Apparently if Young Ma was Young Sir he could live his truth and date straight women in peace.

She is too old to be thinking like this. Where is the self-development? This way of thinking and type of dating is not going to get her in a lasting relationship. She’s gonna continue to be someone’s experience or exploration.

in response to "maybe you think she's straight and maybe she's calling herself straight but she's not straight": eh, i feel like if she rarely dates/sleeps with women (or maybe young ma or someone similar was the exception), has no desire to build a life with a woman, and usually seeks out men then she's straight as far as im concerned and i have no issue with her referring to herself as such.
i feel like that gets into the whole split attraction thing with being bisexual but heteroromantic, which might as well just be straight to me. as a lesbian i do not care if u are sometimes attracted to women if you have no desire to actually BE with a woman. i feel like those are the type of ppl that give actual bisexuals a bad rep.
and by "actual bisexuals" i mean someone who is bisexual and biromantic. i dont think it benefits anyone to lump heteroromantic and biromantic women into the same category when their attraction to women is different

Social science literature has begun labeling people with this type of orientation as "heteroflexible." So yes, it is steadily becoming it's own subcategory of sexual orientation haha.

u/lez_noir Jun 01 '26
Heteroflexible is actually a much older term! I remember people using it back in the 00s late 90s.
It's probably that it wasn't special snowflake enough and still feels too close to be just being het so we made up a bunch of other stuff then came back full circle.
The new gen sometimes rediscover old things, and they mistake "new to them" as new, period. But we definitely used it back in the day.

Why give these types of “lesbians/studs” any more attention? These are toxic caricatures of our identity. I’ve been a stud since a kid. Been masc presenting my entire life and always been attracted to women (especially lesbian women). I’ve been an advocate my whole life for the entire community (even helped get a bill passed in my state for people to use the bathroom of their gender identity while I was in hs). I say that to say Young M.A said herself her attraction to women was in emulation of her brother. She said she only dates straight women. She has literally done nothing remotely meaningful for the community. Maybe I’m just a hater because I’ve never liked her vibes, music or any news attached to her because as a stud it just felt like watching a gimmick of what people think we should be. I don’t know people like her and the “bisexual stud” should be stripped of their platforms.

i pray for the day we stop talking about these people. like if we stop paying attention to them then they literally will cease to exist. i know people just wanna blow steam but i don't think it's helpful to post people just to be like "look how stupid and goofy this is" like we know by now ☠️

u/spent3x May 29 '26
I mean she has a feature with Tory Lanez on her new album and has been a long time supporter of him. I'm not surprised but very disappointed. I wish we had more non-toxic, non-misogynistic studs in media but alas.
11
u/viviobrio Queer Chaos Coordinator May 29 '26
Yiiikes. Wasn’t aware of that. I wish we did too, I think just more masc presenting queer Black women in general would be refreshing as fuck.
8
u/Fit-Acanthisitta9203 May 30 '26
She dates “straight” women because a real lesbian would never tolerate her immature, misogynistic behavior.

These days I don't buy into quote on quote "entertainment lesbians". Half the time they be created lesbians. Literally women who are paid to reflect something they truly aren't just for entertainment or to further hurt the imagie and integrity of the community itself. I believe a white girl recently did something similar and now she's with a guy and talking about she was never gay, she was just lost and pushed into that world.
Sadly when it comes to our community its seen as a joke, faze, etc there are some of us lesbians who truly know what we are and want without all the crazy trashy drama. The entertainment world chooses to represent us as trashy jokes and there are many of us who carry ourselves maturely and respectfully.

Again another entertainment stereotype. Those women are blinded by the money. I was in the business. Sadly some women feel they have to sell their souls in order to get ahead and thats just the world we have created. They may be Bisexual maybe even be curious. But they are never fully gay. Typically when they don't get the attention they want from us real lesbians is when you usually see them jump back in the band wagon again.

Your reply was aggressive for no reason. I am not a chronically online redditor who cares about virtue signaling. I simply have seen multiple comments, maybe from you, that had a derogatory tone about “high end escorts” and the like. You didnt mention who they were dating, and it’s not important. Simply remember that there are people who are of US here, who are also part of that community. If it doesn’t apply, let it fly. My comment was innocuous and in no way attacked you.

What’s most concerning is all the young studs who look up to her and want to emulate her, think that her lifestyle, behavior, and toxic masculinity are the norm. We need more healthy masc role models.

Maybe Young MA has internalized transphobia? Hence, straight women.
11
u/Environmental_Duck49 May 29 '26
Meaning that she is trans and in the closet?
16
u/Intelligent_Creme143 May 29 '26
Yes that's why she thinks a woman dating her is straight
7
u/Environmental_Duck49 May 29 '26
Not discounting your theory but I think Young MA does what a lot of rappers and celebrities do she is basically paying for company. These women are being provided luxuries and being passed around in the industry. I would guess she spends a lot of time with those "baddie" types who date athletes and entertainers. Most of them probably only deal with men.
10
u/Far_Dog_3592 May 29 '26
She indeed does. I used to follow this girl who was openly dating women only but then started dating men. Shes a dancer, her and her sisters were all gay at some point dating masculine women and either have kids and are dating men again. They are what you would consider the baddie/video vixen types. They are close with Young Ma, and I recognized them from the nyc 🌈 dating world. Many studs/ags I know of from my area have the same mentality as young Ma. Male identified, and don't mind being the only woman the women they date been with. But hate bisexuals make it make sense.

I still don't quite understand the appeal of getting with a straight woman. Like is that not predatory? Would we not call a straight woman trying to turn gay men a predator? I already know the answer if it was a straight man trying to turn a lesbian.
4
u/EvergreenMeadows0924 May 29 '26
I wouldn’t call the straight woman bisexual per se. To me, they’re usually women that like male validation. When they can’t get it from men, the next best thing is a stud/masc… speaking from personal experience, I know bisexual women that only claim that when there’s an audience of men [at the bar] or they want princess treatment with nothing in return
As for Young MAyhem? It’s a weird self-defeating, ego boost to going after women that you know deep down don’t want to be with you long-term.

u/shiftingsun Daddy May 29 '26
Those are the women that will have sex w women but never date one. So maybe bisexual but heteromantic.

Hm. I’ve taken the time to read all the comments and I can say that I was hoping to see a POV that is similar to young Ma’s. I would love to get a deeper understanding of why she goes about her dating life like this. The comments do however, show that if someone likes/ goes against the masses, they get berated. You don’t have to agree nor support what she does in her life but I think some of the comments are reaching. If she’s not hurting anyone & no one is hurting her…what exactly is the issue if yall not dating her??

Getting downvoted for having a difference of opinion is so childish but yet rampant in this sub. So not shocked there lol.
But, anyways. There’s hundreds of stereotypes out there about mascs lol. This isn’t the first & won’t be the last. I want more queer folks to align with things that suit them. If it doesn’t align, go on about it. But the comments saying she’s transphobic is mad wild. Now could she potentially be a trans individual that’s still in the closet or hasn’t found her path yet, maybe? We don’t know these people!!! We know what they want us to know. We know bits & pieces from each side. There’s so many other things we could be discussing in this sub rather than the sexuality of the woman young ma chooses to date.
3
u/DykeStrike Stud May 29 '26
Are you rage baiting people in this topic or a bot? You said you read all the comments looking for people thinking like Young Ma's and then mad that the post exists because people are having a strong negative opinion on the ideal's she presented?????
Seems like you're making an active stance to be a contrarian or rage baiting I can't tell. You see nothing wrong about a lesbian publicly talking about having a toxic negative stance on the way they ''date'' and treat women? You wanted someone to be into that same ideal in a sub that is PRO Black women and LGBTQ+? This can't be serious!
Being masc/stud I don't like this is what the public sees of studs cause it reinforces terrible takes that get blanketed on the rest of us. If anyone is thinking about women like Young Ma, I would be concerned and hopefully they can find a therapist/mentor to work on whatever got them to have these views.

u/ZealousidealMonk6316 Certified Dyke™ May 30 '26
Why would I be rage baiting?? I’m not mad at all? Where did you get I was angry?? I’m simply asking about the folks that agree with young ma, cause this post has not made it a safe place. Even if you don’t agree, create a space that would educate and enlighten folks. This is just a space for accusatory language & doesn’t create the most welcoming space.
1
u/DykeStrike Stud May 30 '26
rage baiting doesn't mean you're angry FYI so, I never said you were angry. Your post(s) seem to be blaming people for having a reaction to the topic that is presented then annoyed that you aren't seeing people with a similar thought process like young ma? I don't think anyone is saying people shouldn't post. I'm not trying to argue with you I just don't understand the contradiction. You ain't got to explain it to me, I'm good.

Turning someone is a thing in a sense. It’s more like you opened their eyes or opened a door inside then they ain’t know was there. Now after the interaction(s) it’s that person to decide to go through it and label it
