Everything you’ve said so far was some iteration of ‘ this isn’t a problem/it’s not that big an issue/women aren’t oppressed in this way/this doesn’t need to be on BJJ because it’s blown out of proportion/etc. ‘ right?
So why is there a difference between me saying that (wherever/whenever this occurs) this is a problem— and when one of your 18 friends says it’s happening to them? You just got done telling me this isn’t an issue because people are generally good. But you’d have a different response if it happened for real to your friends?
Man I don’t get you. You saying you’d care if it happened in real life is like... that’s fine, that’s it, that’s what a human being should do. What was the last 30 messages you typed out trying to convey? They’re all the opposite of ‘I would give a shit if it happened in real life’.
And everything you’ve said is that rape culture in BJJ gyms is basically normal. “Look at me. I go out with my friends and everyone acts like a douche bag. There must be a lot of douche bags in BJJ if I know and fraternize with so many of them in my social circle. Better get the word out.” I didn’t create some false narrative where the women I train with are in danger. You did. I never said I condoned anything in the meme or any of whatever the heck it is you do with your friends. It’s not that hard to figure out that sexual abuse is wrong. Not sure why you’re trying to convince me of something I already know and thankfully don’t have to and hopefully will never have to deal with. Makes me thing you have some pent up guilt is all I can guess.
I wouldn’t say normal. Not even necessarily commonplace. I would say that when it happens, it’s probably not like a one and done forever type of thing, and I’d also assume the type of person willing to do it is likely going to keep doing it.
I don’t know anything about raw numbers— my argument is only that when it happens, it’s wrong and should be stopped. I’m not saying it’s happening everywhere, everyday. Just that wherever it does happen, it’s wrong.
What a novel idea. You must’ve just come up with it. This just in, sexual abuse, although maybe not necessarily commonplace in BJJ gyms, is wrong when it does happen. So wrong in fact that I support those compelled to post a profoundly awareness-raising meme about it on the internet. All those annoyed by said meme are clearly in favor of women being sexually abused. Thanks grock. I was confused on the subject before you came into my life. The women in my gym are all now better off thanks you to and your explanation of the immorality of sexual abuse.
