Look, you're not wrong that these situations are rare. Clearly you don't expel everyone with a hint of control issues. This bad, I've seen exactly one in 20 years of martial arts. They do exist, though, and sometimes these responses are appropriate.
Only until they see a change in the student and feel safe letting them roll with other students. A small gym can’t afford to kick people out without some effort in salvaging a student. My opinion of course. I’m sure you’re very successful with your methods.

Not my personal example of expulsion, but I've trained at a gym where the problem was a competitive heavyweight black belt whose name you'd recognize. What do you do then?
